i saw it all, in fact, i make a cameo in the vid, and the problem was that in the first lap there was a pile-up in the other lane that took down the tape -- this section was frozen rutted mud. the course officials should have put the ribbon back up ASAP because riders were constantly straying across into the oncoming lane. trebon came around the corner, gassing it with his head down -- you could see it coming, ouch!

If you were not there and are talking crap.... Trebon was not going to win this race. This was a dangerous section of the course, one of two. I raced it the day before. On Sunday, there were still two sections with frozen ruts, this being one of them. It's CX, everyone was eating shit, everyone was going down, the conditions were crazy all week. Jonathan Paige's bobble that cost him the race happened in the same exact place that Trebon went down.
