We recently took our kids out of our former Independent Fundamentalist Church based on the FUN youth group and sunday school/children's church and pre trib rapture teaching. Ken Ham wrote Already Gone to warn why kids leave church as adults. Wish your church was closer!
As a Pentecostal I have to disagree with this pastor. Okay for one thing there are people in my CHURCH OF GOD who have come from IFB churches because those churches are the ones that say their way or the high way. Everything that the Church of God does is biblical. We are a continuance of the book of Acts. IFB say they are the New Testament Church when really they pay barely any attention to the parts of Acts that refer to the Holy Ghost. Why?
So at 6 years old you were brain washed and you are doing your kids that you love so much that you remember there age. Hymn Books really?. If I sing Awesome God I going to hell. I wont waist my time going through all of this crap.
I grew up going to a church like yours and If Jesus Is hate I don't want him or you. Paul describe his religious acts as DUNG (KJV). I describe what you say as religious words. I pray you get delivered. YOU PREACH SALVATION BY WORKS. and dont even know it.
I know exactly what you mean, pastor. I was conned into attending a 'vacation bible school' a few years back, but the subject matter was all about 'fun fun fun' and we only read 1 Bible verse the whole time. I was thinking, "Why do they call it Bible school if there's hardly any Bible in it?" I just don't really get anything out of making arts and crafts and eating pie. Shows how churches have left the Bible behind and catered to making everything 'teen friendly'. The Bible has no age limit.
Great sermon! I currently go to a dead liberal church and I know exactly what you're talking about. My parents won't take me to an independent baptist church because the closest one is a whopping 20 minutes away, and that's just "too inconvenient"...
