What are the chances that four guys with such great voices would ever get together, blend so well, have such a brillianty arranger among them (Gene Peurling) and stay together for as many years as they did. Just amazing. Isn't it great that we have so many recordings video and audio to enjoy and maybe inspire future artists to go on to greater accomplishments?
Oh to be able to hear these guys again in person. Agreed, downrightman. Thank you Gene Puerling. I had the privilege of studying with him in the 1970's.
Easily the greatest vocal group ever! The Hi Lo's set the standard for ALL vocal groups. And Bob Morse was one of the greatest singers ever. Thank you for posting.
Cedric Dent (who sings Baritone in Take 6) sited the HI-LO's as some of his early influences. He also talked about the Singers Unlimited. Im not sure about that group but They must be impressive to someone of Cedric's caliber :)
@Mahlercougar The Singers Unlimited was another Gene Puerling group. They had an unbelievable female lead, and used lots of over-dubbing to get a really thick sound. They are amazing.
Wooow ! Thank You, Thank You a million times ! What a rare footage this is ! They were great ! Tenderly arranged by the great Clare Fischer ! And Life is a Bowl of Cherries by the king of vocal arranging: Gene Puerling ! Which is the Bass on this group... There was a special with Johnny Mathis I believe in Germany but with The Great Singers Unlimited this time... Please if someone has it post it please ! One of the very very few TV appearances of this amazing group ! Thank You drchilledair !

To quote from one of their 1950s recordings ('Chinatown, My Chinatown')
"THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL FELLAS"
30 years later, their harmonies were as beautiful as ever.
Thanks so much for posting this rare performance.

The Gold Standard of Vocal Groups. Gene Puerling arrangements are the Michaelangelo of Vocal Harmony.

@prezglick4 I don't think Bob Morse ever sang a bad sounding note in his life.
