R110 is not new, its old. They stop using it because it cause damaging brakes and fire damage

to all these wishing for R32, R42, R44, R46, R62, R68, & R68A, there are all gonna retire in the future, these trains would all be gone completely by 2026, starting with the R46 retiring in 2015, R38 in 2017, R62 in 2023, and R68 in 2025. You can see all these trains replaced fully by the R142/R143/R160 cars, and the new cars coming, R179/R188/R210 cars from 2015 to 2025.

the R110A and the R110B were built in 1996 and was used for testing not passenger service but were unused for years because of fire damage and is used now for training

the R110 unites were cars that were used for test service on the 1 and A lines, they were retired in the 90s from fire damage, hoever some still exist today throughout newyork ;)
