  • I saw "Journey" n Portland in November. Left 5 songs in....they need Steve Perry. Bad.

  • Just watched a recent performance of this (2008), it hurt.

  • One of the best performances I have ever seen , and I saw Zeppelin in 77 !!

  • Leo Fender Would be proud

  • killer!!

  • acctually Neal did play Woodstock with Santana and Greg Rollie ya know the keybordest for Journey oh and if you watch the video for Black Magic Woman you'll see Neal and the Played it at Woodstock

  • @TheMoose5150 It's amazing that I've been such a big fan for all this time and didn't know that.

  • @TheMoose5150 Actually, Neal didn't join Santana until 1971. And they didn't play Black Magic Woman on Woodstock, they played: Waiting, Evil Ways, You Just Don't Care, Savor, Jingo, Persuasion and Soul Sacrifice. And he is not on any of the woodstock vids either. Greg Rollie however, did play with Santana on Woodstock.

  • since neal did not join santana till 1970 he did not play at woodstock

  • @TheMoose5150 No Neal didn't play Woodstock he joined the band after Woodstock

  • Two things; (1) Neal is probably the most under rated rock guitar in history, (2) There is so much of these great live recordings from this era, somebody needs to get it together and RELEASE THEM!!! Obviously, the sound is from the board, this is pro shot...

    Yo!

  • NEAL IS SIMPLY A GOD !!!!

  • you all know that Neal played with Santana when he was just a teenager.....he played Woodstock at 16! Love this song.

  • @MsRoleary Neal didn't join Santana until after Woodstock.

  • @Ricksvidz He was there with Santana.....and Rollie. Maybe he wasn't an official member....but he says it himself. Although maybe he doesn't quite remember correctly:) It was Woodstock after all!!!!

  • @Ricksvidz I just checked it out....he's credited on the Santana recordings live at Woodstock. Anyway - I love him and your videos:) Thank you.

  • @MsRoleary I stand corrected. I never knew he was there. That's very cool. Thanks for the info, and you're most welcome. :)

  • @Ricksvidz I looked at some of the live footage from Woodstock and you can see him with his Fu Man Chu moustache, mostly playing percussion from what I could see. It's pretty cool though. Rollie is awesome too!!!!

  • @Ricksvidz

On video.....so is Greg. both were in the group at Woodstock

  • @Ricksvidz He was there but, not yet an offical member, because he also had an offer from Eric Clapton to join him. Watch the Woodstock videos !!

  • @MICKJAC08 I need to do that. Thanks.

  • yeah you really got me now

  • No bass or drum solo...why does everyone cut that part out?

  • The Most under rated guitrist Around, And I have the pleasure to Interview Him Back in 82

  • Oh, thank GOD! I just listened to some other band singing this song and couldn't stop laughing... My ears are hurting but are MUCH better NOW! Whewha!

Aaaah, "The Voice" NOTHING like listening to the REAL thing. Thank you Rick for this video!

    Journey~Steve Perry on!

  • @MAZorgJourneySPfan I was under the impression that nobody would try to remake this song, and instead try to remake the more popular ones.

  • @RyuTairen I hear ya but some still try... Go figure : )

    Journey~Steve Perry on!

  • FUNNYTHEBLUE...

  • NEAL THE MASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sounds a bit vh influenced in parts.

  • Somethings Wrong,32 raings and 8,289 views,Come oon! Journey Rocks!!!

  • Skeery to think what they would have come up with nowadayz if they had stayed together. I think their brilliance fed off one another, but when the chain broke....well history never repeats itself so learn by our mistakes...

  • AWESOME !!!.... Thanks a lot for this clip !

  • neal schon is in a whole different league than evh; he did a lot of this stuff before evh

  • Well, personally was into Fusion jazz and they were really rockin it back then, They rarely had any vocals .

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVE PERRY!

  • If you look back at some of the old Santana stuff Neal had a similar solo... I'm not sure what vid. Was just browsing and noticed!

    PEACE!

    JOURNEY~STEVE PERRY ON!

  • awesome intro

  • Why on earth would you end this video before Steve's big notes???

  • wow! neal schon is the ultimate shredder

  • NOBODY plays guitar like Neal. He has that guitar smokin'!

  • Gotta love it at the end when Steves standing next to NS and NS starts to back away from Steve cause he knows SP's high notes a coming :-)

  • Eddie WHO ????

    NEAL "THE AXE MASTER"

  • Please God let there be someone out there who can post the video of the drum solo in this song from the album CAPTURED! The best drum solo ever! better that Peart, Weckl, Gadd, Rich or anyone else!

  • PLEASE!! Come on, are you serious? Steve Smith is a GREAT GREAT drummer, but,...solos can't be comapred because they're always in a different context. Search for Steve Smith solo, it's all over YouTube ....

  • Steve Smith was one of the driving forces of the Journey "sound in the 80's...Steve "Machine Gun" Smith flippin ROCKS!

  • I like la do da song from Journey

  • Fucking love Neal and Journey. There's almost some EVH riffing in here.

  • Rick, do you have the bass/drum solo segment?

  • Neal's the best.

  • neal played in santana when he was 15

  • OK...at the risk of pissing everyone off...and let me first say that I believe Neal is one of the greatest guitarists of ALL TIME...with that hair and those overalls he kinda looks like he's auditioning for a role in a 70's production of 'Godspell'. Is it just me?... ;-)

In ANY iteration, I LOVE Journey....thanks for the many years of great music guys!

  • No. The 70's was when they were popular. Duh.

  • Try the 80's. That's when they were most popular.

  • yeah neil is truly one of the great s

  • Arnel Pineda sure ripped this song in Seattle last year! I would love to hear more of the stuff from Infinity, Evolution, & Departure this year on tour........

  • Hey Bill1122! I hate to dissapoint you, but Neal Schon has played like this long before anybody ever knew who Eddie Van Halen was. And that as they say is that!!!

  • Aw BTSF, I was gonna send you this song, but I see you've already made your mark. Go figure! It seems as though..You, myself, and Schon2112, seem to really like the same stuff. I'm always seeing you two posting on the vids that I really like to watch...usually the 'live' ones.

  • @BigTimeSchonFan

Right, that must be why Eddie's solo's are over 8 minutes longer than schon's.

  • the version on captured of this song is possibly the best thing they have ever done live, and steve"machine gun smith's" drum solo is wicked!

  • wow... I agree with BigTimeSchonFan LONG before Eddie Van Halen

  • Are there any versions of this song on Youtube with Ross' solo? (Like on the Captured album).

  • that sucks ,it stops right b4 the drum solo groove thing,,, part. ah whatever

  • my god thank you for this! have any more?

  • YAY I GOT 4TH POST!!!!! just kidding. rock on journey.

  • Love the Neal Schon!! 30yrs and still faithfull to Schon Music! You Are the man!! LOve it!!

  • One of the best classic Journey clips out there.

This was when they were at their true peak.

Thanks for an excellent trip back in time!

  • A great video for a great song!!!
