  • I had the same problem, phone rang, alerts could be heard, but when playing a song nothing. I tried the suggestion of switching the vibrate button on and off ...it's right above the volume buttons and voila it worked!!

  • "headphone" mode is when your on the main springboard of your iPhone and you hit the volume rocker on the side and it says "Ringer (headphone)" rather than just "Ringer"

  • If you spill water/liquids on your iPhone and it's stuck in "headphone" mode. Soak all the water up immediately. Take a hair dryer, set it to cool and on high, and position it somewhere so it's pointing into the headphone jack of your iPhone. 20 minutes later it should be back to normal. Some water or moisture may still be in the headphone jack making contact as if headphones are plugged in.

  • Yea I have a brand new 4S and it has the exact same problem. Needless to say I HAVE, believe it or not turned my phone off vibrate, honestly? Did people actually not know how to do that?

  • find a solution yet i have same problem. NO sound on music, alerts, keyboard, games, videos, YES sound on ringtone, on calls + calls with speaker. And the MUTE is turned off (that's the button above the volume rockers). Tried: q-tip cleaning headphone jack whole, plugging apple head phone in multiple times, reset, restore, upgrade to ios5.0.1, air canister to clean speakers & head jack whole. Also tried pressing the bottom as some suggested on apple forum sound comes on for a sec then goes off.

  • @connor24242 I have the same freaking problem, and I don't even know what I did wrong to begin with.

  • @xoxoeLou This was about half a year ago, but now I think I know, my Iphone was handed down to me by my brother and I think the problem is that there was slight water damage and it didn't come into effect until it's to late to fix it, sorry dude. Try a blow dryer and definitely try to clean out the dock/charging part, I cleaned that out and it worked good for a month or two but then it broke again, anyways goodluck.
