I'm a Christian, but I have to say your attitude / theory of imposing Christian idea's on the ancient past is a big put off, not just to me, but to people in general.

Why? Because Jesus didnt arrive till thousands of years later. to look down on ppl of the past with your present day view point, in most cases, is just silly.
So, Jesus Christ is ONLY the God of the New Testament? Read Isaiah Chapter 53 and Psalms Chapter 1 and 22. The Old Testament is full of the doctrine that Jesus Christ was their God as well. Unless, of course, you believe in two different Gods, in which case, you are not a Christian.
