But that didn't happen. they beat us 18-7, and with a minute left in the game marmion was passing trying to run up the score with their starters still in. that's kind of dis respectful, so yeah we were pissed. idk about the team now because i graduated in 2010. but from what i remember, after the game, we took a knee on the other side of the field, and a marmion kid yelled out "go home montini, you suck", and our coach yelled back "we'll be back".

@cerce34 Yeah, I hear ya. I think it just comes with the territory of having such a great program. I think you'll see more people begin bashing us because of our accomplishments. Personally I have a great deal of respect for the JCA program. For most of us it was HUGE to beat Goliath last year. I think that says a lot about JCA. Every time you step on the field its like a championship game for the other team.

@cerce34 I completely disagree (big surprise huh?). Winning State in any sport is a HUGE accomplishment. You can't minimize it, no way. I wonder if JCA celebrated when they won their first State. I would guess YES. And they should have, as well as each of the 13 times they've done it. And for the record, Montini has 3 state championships, including this year making it 2 years in a row. Winning back-to-back in itself puts Montini is a special class. Not many schools can boast that.

@jca246 Perhaps you can point to those plays....the punt fumble was on the return, and the last one had a couple of tacklers on him. They weren't unforced at all. On the other hand, our interception was a poorly thrown ball. That was a gift. Nevertheless, the game this coming August ought to be a good one. I'll be interested to see if there will be a more balanced attack from JCA. If there is, I would say lesson learned.

Both teams played to their strengths. JCA ran, and Montini had more balanced between air and ground, but total yardage was even.Turnovers are also a wash, but if you look at offensive production (in terms of points), Montini was more effective. In any regard, a closely battled game. Montini came out on top with a gutsy 2 point call....and nailed it. You can't take anything away from anyone when plays are made.

All I have to say is, this ball did not cross the plane. His knees were down in the end zone but the ball was out of the end zone. We didn't come prepared like we should have. But all I have to say is its a whole knew ball game next season, in week No. 1. JCA will be coming out for our revenge, ready to knock anybody down that gets in our way. Montini is done next season.

I think this was reviewed afterward by lots of folks and the overwhelming conclusion is he was in, if only by a half foot. And the ref was right there in front of the play. Tough loss, but Montini wins.
