;this is gooooood...im a dummi when it comes to the electrical music stuff (whats a loop, anyway?), but i got 2 comments to u, if u will...number 1, the 2nd tenor in the background, although sounds great, but is not clear..a bit 'blourry'...number 2 ur tenor is kindo squeaky..other than that-its absoluetly beautiful, and i happened to love the beatboxing..very talented..
I personally love the idea of beatboxing behind the wood instruments - or any instrument for that matter. What i would have done was part way through make the beat a little beefier by adding a solid kick drum sound. And if your loopstation has an undo function you could thicken up the beat and then drop the extra thickness once the intensity is supposed to die down. Either way awesome job !
Very very cool. I would like to get a looper pedal and start experimenting with it. I have probably a dumb question, but if you are using a looper pedal for voice or recorder, what do you hook it up to for the sound come out? Would I need to buy a PA system or can I use my guitar amp? Can I use a mic hooked up to my laptop?
@klsike Well PA system might give you the nicest sound... i'm actually using an acoustic amp here.. like the kind you buy for an acoustic-electric guitar. Normal guitar amp works it's just a matter of how much you care about distortion and that sort of thing. There are ways to do it through your laptop... however some programs or ways of doing it--in my experience-- might give you a little delay.
@speakwhnspkn2 Thanks- i think the one i got was about 180 or so. The two-pedal one is a little more but is probably easier to use so i suggest considering that one too.
@SoldatSolutrea Cool- I could see that. I guess in this case, I was worried all of the tenor loops would get muddy, so I thought beat boxing would be a good beat holder. I appreciate the feedback!
@bbrizzy89 I think that this is brilliant, and I wouldn't change a thing. (except make it longer.) and as for the beat boxing holding the beat, It definitely works and only enhances the awesomeness of this song.
This is really fun and interesting. You should join a group or create one. Alto and Tenor recorders have great sound and should be bettre used on contemporary music (even if they are great in baroque one).
It's just a Boss loop station- in the U.S. they are sold almost everywhere... i see ur from the UK... u could probably still order them... but yea just look for Boss guitar pedals.
Really cool stuff. I even like the rough edges and well-controlled wolf-howls in your playing. It actually goes well with this jam. Shame about the sound quality, though. This would have been great in a better recording.
Great sound! Well done! Playing with my Tenor Recorder for the first time today! Awesome instrument with such a wonderful timber in its different registers!
The reason for a tenor is the real resonnance you get with wind, tongue. You are squeaking which means you are blowing too hard and not covering the holes. You have fabulous rhythm but can learn a lot from cinderbutte who is fab. I have taught recorders as parent volunteer for years with kids on the odious sopranos and me on tenor.
Sweet that's awesome. And thanks for the feedback. That was the first day i bought that thing, but yea i know what you mean. You really gotta hold back to get those nice lows out. I was used to just wailing away on a soprano. good stuff :)
say tut tut for staccato note and try lou lou. I play my tenors wherever I go, best air was the grand canyon. Played New World symphony on brand new wooden one last summer in Mt. Washington NH the air in my apt is so dry the recorder is loose.
You know, Ive been thinking about buying that tenor recorder. The only tenor model I can find is a plastic one for about 90 bucks, which seems like a good deal. I want to cover videogame music with it and possibly record something original later on.
Good. lol. Mine was only 70 bucks and it plays fine. It takes some getting used to... it has more nuance than the little soprano recorders but you get used to it. And it's way cooler lol.
Thanks for the kind words and the subscription! It's a basic RC-20 Boss Looper. Definitely check out some of my live stuff to see some of the ways I use it.

wicked cool! Try relaxing your throat and tongue a bit more when you play - that may be why you're squeaking... :)

The tenor sounded amazing with the acoustic effects, but I really dislike beatboxing mixed with wind instruments.
