The Tau are an enlightened race - I choose to view them as they were in the beginning - before the backlash: As a young, but idealistic and benevolent people. Their first contacts with outlying Imperial systems caused many to defect - and the following crusade, where they could've wiped out the Imperium's invasion force, but did not - goes to show their goodness.
They honor their agreements - and they are immune to pyschic powers.
They simply have absolutely NO knowledge of the Warp and have an incredibly weak signature -- hence their lack of Warp drives and a much slower means of space transport than either the Imperium or the Eldar.. They're as susceptible to psychic powers as anything, in fact, they're probably at a disadvantage against any enemy using Psykers. It's just that under the influence of the Ethereals they're resistant, perhaps even immune to corruption.
@CaptainPengu Actually, no tau has ever succumbed to to warp or became psykers. They stay away from the warp, travelling on the brink of the warp rather than fully immmersing in it. This means their warp travel is worse but they do not fall prey to chaos.
@mch158 I never said they'd fall prey to Chaos, mainly because of the Ethereal's presence. They're still susceptible to psychic powers, such as Eldar Farseers or Chaos Sorcerers using their own respective abilities.
@NicholasGeschke Also, the Tau have an incredibly small presence. The amount of territory they hold is minuscule in comparison to the Imperium. The only reason, to be honest, that they haven't been wiped out is that a full-fledged assault on the Tau holdings would mean the Imperium would spread its forces out quite thinly, leaving it susceptible to raids from Chaos, Orks, Necrons, anything. They're also incredibly naive; the new Tyranid codex and the humorous snafu with the Necrons shows this.
somehow this is silly. at the beginning constantine and ko´vash are talking and kvash said he will meet the govenor . but then later the admiral and kovash are intruducing eachother again.
anyway the Admiral is the best char of the game :D
Dawn of War two is actually way better when compared with the origional. The game play graphics are nuts, and the brand new marines are awesome! If you want it for no cost, you can certainly download the total video game over on DOW2DownloadXcom (replace X with . ). When i did, and it worked fantastically!
Hold it Hold it Hold it...I know that mankind has made truces between xenos' before, like the Tau and the Eldar, BUT THEY LET THEM ON THEIR SHIP? Isn't that against the codex astartes or something?
It didn't look like a demon. It actually looked like some sort of teleportation (Warp) system opened up when he said "Embrace Chaos" maybe a magic word? :D?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
that sounded a bit sexual "But I can count on you not to...disapoint." ... never did like Ardias .Also it seems strange that a SPACE MARINE would want to make peace with a xenos...
I do know I played the game and i'm well versed in 40k fluff. The ultramarines just seem to pity the tau Calgar himself had his forces work with the tau to defeat the necrons and then allowed the tau to evacuate when he ordered an exterminartas on the world.Shortly after the tau began an expantion into imperial space. What a great way to say "thank you"
Its meant to be like the physical maufestation of chaos. If you step in it you wail like a 3 year old and the screen goes all red and blurry (the player presumably becomes possesed by chaos) and you revert to the last save
nop, but the burst cannon consumes very fast your ammunition and is very scarce. On the other hand to obtain bolter ammunition you have only to kill the chaos marines.
wow I would never have seen that coming. 2 tau elite warriors and 2 elite space marines are defeated by 2 chaos space marines. I always knew the chaos were tough badies but elite guards prepared for this sort of interuption? At 2:34 you can clearly see what the tau had in mind anyway.

Perfect allies against Chaos if you ask me.

The book based off this game was one of the first 40k books I ever read...and led me to picking Tau as my first army. Covenant meets Federation.

it was to fight against the greater threat.
the tau are a young race that , not much of a threat to the imperium whereas chaos is an ancient enemy far more dedlier
