omg sooooooo adorable, "until they free the people, until they..................make........make everyone..........free" poor little thing. i luv him
no you my dear nutcase are the sheep (like the majority of people on youtube) here. I was pointing out the lack of critical thinking; you cannot think for yourself properly (as one cannot really develope an opinion that is truely yours,if it is not coming from your own critical analyze) if you are unable to expose superficial war-propaganda. I hope your master obama calls you to serve and die for him, because he "calls" you to. your stupidity and genuine ignorance is profound MeyrinkTheFox.
Mex is an idiot because he has an opinion? I dont get it. I don't side with sending people overseas to be killed, but I definitely don't side with ignorant assholes like tbktb who probably cant even defend himself let alone his own country if he was called to do so. sheep.
@mexman48 How is that relevant? How is attacking communism in a 3rd world country gonna make me or you safer? We left Nam and everyone knows we did nothing significant over there except lies and war propaganda.. many peoples' lives got lost for no good reason". Everyone is a soldier fool. The only difference is that men in uniform nowadays and back in Vietnam are and were brainwashed tools. Wake up. Get your head out of your falsely patriotic ass. Learn history, then talk. Red White and bullshit
And what Art is saying is actually really profound. He's not saying "War is bad" or "war is good" hes really just causing one to really think about the realities and the meaning behind it, and understand how precious human life is. I like that he speaks from his heart
I can imagine that there wasn't a soldier who didn't have that thought running through his mind, somwhere between leaving his family, and fighting: "Is it worth it?" and to see it through the eyes of the soldier is very profound, and humbling. so many times we forget how many lives were lost to protect this great country, America, and to free others from dictatorial leaderships. I hope we can carry the honor of those soldiers, and be Proud to be Americans...land of Free, home of the Brave.
and to ponder what it's like for the soldier who is actually in battle, as he weighs his home, family, loved ones, with being in a bush. theres no doubt that the soldiers were heros.
...opportunity or as much as that can be done within this society, until that happens then it's the function of uh, it's a function of people to point it out and continually remind ?. (I can't make out the last word, possibly "themselves".)
Simon: I mean, I think that much of what we say - what we're saying if not all of what we sing is extremely obvious. Uh, as obvious as it is that uh, we should be in Vietnam or as obvious as it is that people are starving in this country and they - or as obvious as it is that there's any quality in this country and maybe annoying as it is to hear it; but, it has to be said until they stop the war, until they feed the people, until they make - make everyone free and have equal...
Garfunkel: It's very easy to lose sight of what it means for a bullet to come to another person's insides and for a man to be killed by somebody else's gun. A man to be out in a - he's home, he's in Iowa one day and the next day he's in a - he's in a state that he's supposed to feel - it's supposed to feel - he's supposed to feel this is worth it. For me to be in this bush now trying to kill that guy and be in a position where this guy could kill me, I'm supposed to feel this all makes sense...

Sure would love to see this elusive '69 CBS special in its entirety. Why can't CBS just re-master & release it on DVD?
