Yeah... they weren't. 13th Floor Elevators are probably the first band to release a psych album and the London underground scene including Pink Floyd influenced The Beatles' Revolver (which people who have never heard of the 13th Floor Elevators call the first psych album). Of course then came Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and The Piper at the Gates of Dawn which were recorded at the same time in the same studio. There was no single band that started it.

Oh yes, i agree, old and new there is plenty out there, some is good and some is terrible but for me PF really hits the spot and each time i lie back and go to that place I realised i missed something the last time i listened. In other words - i always seem to get something new from PF. I get the same feeling when i listen to soundgarden, the beatles, hendrix........etc.
