  • romen noodle and shmuckabee

  • Oh...McCain got his info from THIS youtube video! I was wondering how he took everything so out of context. It was as if he saw it on a video where they edited what Romney said and cut off the context of what he said...IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW!!!

  • mitt romney is awsome

  • Where has the logic gone? In the 2nd part he NEVER says anything about withdraws, JUST milestones. He says that there ought to be time tables to meet milestones. All these leftist and anti-Mitt people accusing him of being a liar or flip-flopper are just not listing to what he is saying. (oh and I am republican but I do not support mitt as a primary candidate)

  • If Mitt Romney doesn't support timetables, he should have answered "NO!" on ABC.

  • The reporter asked a simple question. "Do you support a timetable for withdrawal?" He didn't say no. His answer seemed like a yes to me.

Maybe he wanted his answer to be ambiguous enough so that he could pick either side in the future... whatever suited him politically. Even if he isn't an outright liar, he's at the very least dishonest.

  • i think it was smart at the time for him actually even if it was slightly dishonest. Anyways since he doesnt support time tables now, he's the best

  • McCain wanted timetables and benchmarks in Iraq too! MCCLATCHY-TRIBUNE January 26, 2007, entitled "McCain considers setting benchmarks for Iraqis".

Goals people. GOALS. Not a timetable to withdraw the troops. We will be there forever if we don't make progress. Progress is only made with GOALS (aka benchmarks).

  • Here is the deal. Romney DID call for milestones, benchmarks, goals, etc. And there is no point in setting goals if there is no timetable. What is the alternative? Just an indefinite occupation with no program or motivation to get our troops home.

So, Romney was for "milestones" and benchmarks. Good for him, because that is the correct position to have. You would be a terrible leader if you weren't setting goals for the mission and trying to complete it in a timely manner.

  • Romney said McCain lied. Mitt is the flip flopping biggest lier I ever saw. He and his elite CFG funding supporters, Bain Capital/Clear Channel buying of talk show radio host will allow the Dem's 527s to devour him in a general election. Want a consistent conservative that is not for sale (reason he's hated by the elite) Vote for Huck and get more for your buck. He spends other peoples' money frugally and wants to be President of ALL Americans; not just the wealthy elite.

  • MR. ROMNEY: Well, there's no question but that — the president and Prime Minister al-Maliki have to have a series of timetables and milestones that they speak about. But those shouldn't be for public pronouncement.

  • John McCain criticizes Mitt Romney for stating that the President of the United States

should have a private plan, benchmarks and timetable for Iraq. Apparently McCain wants

us to elect him President and put him in charge of the war in Iraq without him having any

plan and without him having any time table for accomplishing that plan. McCain's

position is absurd, especially coming from someone with a military background.

  • Sorry, folks, but the illogical syllogism in this video wreaks. Huck's accusation and the "expose" don't even match up. Romney did not say anything about supporting withdrawal timetables, he just said that obviously, somewhere down the line there would need to be a troop withdrawal, some idea of when and how. Huck tried to portray Romney as a liberal. Go to college and learn logic, people.

  • Slow down. Every operation has metrics for both progress and success. The US and Iraq must have time tables and bench marks otherwise we are just wasting time and resources. I DO NOT believe we need ANY public timetable, but we surely need private metrics - which is Mitt's point.

  • Grift1 is correct.

It is appropriate for the US to establish benchmarks and timetables for the Iraq government. It is part of the mismanagement of the non-military aspects of Iraq that this has not happened.

    BUT!!!

That is very different from establishing a timetable for withdrawl.

HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE THIS!

    Thanks, TOm

  • Opps! I meant :14-15 seconds into the clip.

  • He smiles because he knows Mitt is lying out of his ass.

  • If that is the case why would doesn't he glance to any of the other candidates during the debate. It is apparent from other articles on the web that the two have formed a pact. They know that they need to get rid of Romney so that the two of them can debate later on. If they don't sink Romney now they know they will both lose.

  • Did you see that smile of Huckabees and glance over to McCain at about :49-50. Shouldn't he be paying attention to Romney since he his talking to him. Why would he glance over to McCain unless it was to search for support or approval. What do these two candidates seem to have drawn a pack between the two. It was not the first time nor the last Huckabee looked over towards McCain for approval. I am sure Huckabee did not think he was being filmed since Romney was talking. What a hypocrite!

  • I can't tell if Mitt is being dishonest or if he honestly just can't keep up with all the different positions he's held and flip-flopped on. Is he a sociopathic liar or is he just losing track of his flip flops? Hmmm...hard to tell.

He has nice hair though. I think I'm going to vote for him.

  • The phrase "a series of timetables and milestones that they speak about" IS VERY DIFFERENT FROM "a timetable for withdraw that they speak about". But I understand that the less intelligent people out there would not understand this. It's the same reason they support some of these other candidates out there...

  • Slick Mitt does it again, the man can't help but lie. Well I guess I can no longer say that Mitt isn't consistent, because at least he is a consistent liar. The Romney supporters are in denial if that can't see by now that there candidate has a problem with the truth.

  • This video is totally misleading. Romney in this video said he thinks there should be timetables to accomplish specific things because if no goals are set, there's nothing to shoot for. But he was NOT referring to a timed withdrawal from the war. Huckabee lies again about Romney's position and unfortunately.. many people are being led by a lamb in wolf's clothing.

  • I agree. Mitt may be a flip-flopper (I think he is) but the second clip which is conspicuously cut short doesn't demonstrate that he said yes to WITHDRAWAL timebables. He is a tool, but why overstate the case.

  • What another great video! Romney WILL DO just about ANYTHING to get elected. He is a disgrace to the Republican Party... A party he didn't want ANYTHING to do with just decades ago. ROMNEY BACK TO THE OLYMPICS! This is the presidency, only big boys!!!!

  • I am no fan of Mitt but I think the old news clip was in fact edited to take his complete response out of context. I would like the whole quote from Romney, maybe I am mistaken.

I think Huckabee was right though ultimately, he quoted a real source, mitt just babbled on and tried to make it look like he was taking the high road.

  • You just cannot trust that guy... McCain is right... Romney is the candidate of change... changing positions and trying to change what was said!

  • Great job Kevin! You caught Mitt in another one of his dishonest moments..

  • hahaha...Gullible lemmings. Had you heard the entire quote you would actually know that Romney no more called for a withdrawal than McCain (or his boy friend Huckabee) did.

  • Huckabee supporters have got to be the most ignorant of all the candidates' supporters. Clueless clown Huckabee has no chance at all of getting the nomination, but if he did get the nomination then a democrat would be guaranteed the presidency.

  • notice how in the debate huckabee accuses him of saying a "time withdraw" when your quote is romney saying a "timetable." two completely different things. somehow you think because they both include the word "time" that they are the same. a withdraw is finite and absolute, while a timetable is a means of prediction.

  • is he related to john kerry? because he waffles like he is.

  • The man is just like his father... willing to say anything to get elected.
