Hah, I'm 32 and doing the same thing! This and House of Love, Jesus and Mary Chain, The Pixies, Dinosaur Jr, Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine...God, I want it back!!!
LAMB1968 - watch Taggart - it's fucking cold and the beer is warm and Ride don't exist anymore so probably full of snobs and dickheads like Russell Brand
god i love this track! What memories! I remember listening to it on tape on the way, to and from college.... someone please find the EP/CD version and put it on here!
What a great riff...brings back some good memories. Too bad they never caught on in the home of the coward land of the slave. They deserved to be bigger than Nirvana, alas.
Nirvana were nothing more then one long POSIES song. eSearch The Posies on youtube and see where Dave Grole and whoever owns Cobains royalties should be sending their checks!
No The Posies. All the Seattle bands would watch them play out before Grunge broke. The Posies were on the pop side of the grunge movement. Kurt was a fan and Dave G whole post Nirvana career is made possible from stealing every song in The Posies FROSTING ON THE BEATER album. Give it a listen, its brilliant. IMHO
I agree, thats why i wrote stole. Dave G has no influences, He is the king of theft. Those that are fans of the bands he rips know that. It's well documented. You can be influenced by a band that came before you, you steal from a band going on stage the night before you. IMHO, Peace
I'm not the hugest Nirvana or Foo Fighters fan but they are both mediocre enough and Dave G is an astounding drummer. I'll require documentation of this so-called sonic plagiarism if that is your assertion.
It's nice to look back on your youth and find out that the music you listened to then really was as special as you thought it was at the time. Brilliant in every way.
favorite song of all time. love the bittersweet vibe. will have to disagree w/ someone who said that the live version is better. the noise build up at the beginning of the studio version... for me, there's nothing better than turning up my car radio as loud as it can go and waiting for the song to explode after that first drum fill. and the echo/tremolo part at 2:57 on the studio version is so bad a**. song is so great it makes me cry sometime. will listen to it if i'm happy or sad.
mark, collest front man of the era, effortlessly cool. amzing song. mark wore those red jeans so much they turned pink, was he trying to tell us summat? lol, coolest hair ever mark!.wish only they carired on . 3 more yrs after split they would of been huge and we would of got more of this kinda sound. andy bell ruined it on last album singing shite about his wife. ,mark rules. andy pandy bassy oasisy money ponce.
i never thought that ill be 31 years old and when i return home at 5 am ill search to listen ride on youtube!i will always love you!

I have to disagree, Nirvana stole a lot of their ideas from Dinosaur Jr and the Meat Puppets. I don't really see the Posie's influence.
rs40licks1 2 years ago 2
Sorry but do not agree.
beauty8116 2 years ago
What do you mean by "stole"... Do you think Dinosaur Jr. wasn't influenced by Neil Young and so on and so forth... Influence is not theft.
meinLiebsterFeind 2 years ago 3
are you sure you dont mean the pixies?

I agree Frosting on the Beater is a fantastic album, I can see the influence on Dave Grohl, but stealing is perhaps a little harsh.
Ride were fantastic... so underated.
As great as Nirvana were, they didn't do anything that hadn't been done before. They just did it very well.

Steal and influence are different things, nothing under the sun is new.
