possibly one of the worst officiated playoff games this decade, second only to the lakers-kings game where they shot 27 free throws in the 4th quarter
Yeah, only if you listen to those whiny, idiot Houston announcers. They bitched about everything, as if the Rockets deserved every call regardless of what actually transpired on the court.
Finley's out-of-bounds play was the only legitimate complaint, but those announcers whined incessantly the entire game about every call or no-call that went the Mavs' way.
@shadyparadox Dude, they are paid by the Houston freaking Rockets to announce the Houston Rockets games. Every single announcer for every team in the NBA is biased for their respective team. If you dont believe that then you are an idiot. The Mavs announcers bitch just like the Magic announcers and Rockets announcers and every other set of announcers in the league. But when Tim Donaghy comes out and admits that this game was rigged, then we have a pretty good reason to complain if you ask me
@houstonrockets1994 Donaghy did not say it was rigged. He said the NBA listened to Cuban's complaints about Yao's illegal screens.
The Mavs were jobbed in Game 2 because of illegal screens so the NBA told the refs to enforce the rules properly from then on. Both teams were fairly warned, as JVG admitted, and they were able to adjust and Yao wasn't called for any illegal screens in Game 3.
NOT listening to Cuban's legitimate complaint would have been suspicious, but it was handled properly.
@valin771 Yeah you are correct. Tim Donaghy even admitted that the two playoff games that were rigged was the Lakers - Kings game 6 in 2002 when the Lakers got somethin like 26 free throws in the 4th quarter alone, and this one when the refs handed the mavs the game at the end. It sucks. This was the best Rockets team we've had since the days of Dream and Clyde, and we got screwed.
that where is turned gay. mavs had free throws to shoot i forgot who shot but they missed both. jon barry or david wesley got the rebound michael finaley was out of bounds clearly and hit the ball while he was out of bounds. the refs were blind. if they were real they easily would of saw that out of bounds. then mavs got free throws again only got 1 in. then tmac goes to the line missed the first then the second he got the rebound shot a 3 but missed.
Um, if you're hacked without calls in the paint over and over again, you'll stop attacking the paint.
I remember in particular Howard and Harris were continually abused in the paint and got practically zero calls late in the series.
Conversely, the Heat adjusted their game plan when they discovered to their delight they could travel, push, shove, flop, and do basically whatever they want and still get calls. It boosted their confidence so they continued to do it and eventually won.
this is why the nba will start declining... stern has done great things, but has hired crappy people. especially donaghy. he's blaming series that he thought was fixed
This game is also famous for David Stern sitting in the crowd a game after he gave Van Gundy that 100,000 dollar fine. Then what happened was pure truth in motion as the REfs screwed Houston 3 straight times in the 4th period with horrible calls. I think recent events in volving Refs had proven Van Gundy was right back then and others who challenge Refs today are right aswell.
All you need to know is this series was much like the Lakers-Kings series of 2002. Refs had to help the Fakers win and the Refs had to help the Mavericks win. In both series the underdog teams the KIngs and Rockets were the aggressers yet it was the League sweetheart teams the Fakers and Mavs that got all the calls. Imagine that?????

2006 Miami v. Dallas. Lotsa cheating there!
Over9000Wolf 3 years ago
that one actually didnt have cheating for all the complaints and accusations that were made, lol
the mavs just choked, didnt attack the rim in a tightly called series
more importantly: couldnt stop Dwyane Wade
