  • 2:47 Gets me every time.

  • yes sam fucking fisher is pissed the best suspence higher up song ever

  • that what happens when you make sam mad this epic song starts to play

  • Classic 90s

  • first i thought it was Illmatic, then i thought it was 36 chambers...then i thought it was get rich or die trying..nahh jk about that one. but now i believe this is my favorite album

  • yay-ee yay-ee, yeauh......mayne,, hold up

  • that's how you let the beat build, Bitch.

  • Fuck people who take things like Pitchfork as gospel and call 2011 tracks in 2011 'timeless'. It really winds me up. This is timeless music. Very ahead of it's time and still incredible today. Some of the best breaks and sampling in the history of music and that is no exaggeration, I would never take that back. There's probably only been about 7 or 8 albums released since this that I would say are better. His new album was pretty awesome too.

  • I'm here because of Splinter Cell: Conviction.

  • I got this from the Top Gear episode with the Vauxhall Monaro VXR when the gate was opening xD.

  • I GOT THIS 12' for Christmas my 5th copy

  • there are millions of emotions that only music can decipher.

  • fuckin a, this CD never gets old! oh yeah, i member skipping my first class of the day back at LBCC so i could go to buy this CD!!!

  • crawdad....LOL yeah dat!!!

  • i used to build streams, then i took a grain of salt to the knee

  • nothing better

  • this beat has subconsciously kept me sane for the past decade

  • @itsWILLEMLOCK word

  • Shadows best album by far IMO. Private Press was really good (god knows the BBC used it on every documentary soundtrack for the next 3 years) and the Brainfreeze / Product Placement LP's were fantastic but they're collaborations with cut chemist and not strictly studio albums. The Outsider just didn't do anything for me at all

  • thanks DJ Shadow. this album has had a tremendous affect on me for 10+ years. Like the guy said, I was clearheaded as fuck when I first heard it, and even though I'm not anymore, Shadow Endtroducing, thanks

  • it's the splinter cell's version ! I LIKE IT !!!!!!!!

  • This has tempo and Impact,That equals.....Pure Innalation!

  • easily the greatest hip-hop sampling album of all time. hands down

  • rip derek

  • Shit is about to get serious now!

  • Endtroducing. I'm going to use that in an English essay.

  • love the beat of this song

  • this is fucking nuts

  • this is so beast

  • one of the greatest beats of all time

  • Comment removed

  • i fucking loves this chunnnnn

  • EPIC!!

  • Is that Amoeba? In LA?

  • @LaineyLooBoo na its some record store in Davis, Ca...like 20min away from Sac

  • wasnt this on children of the corn

  • Fontana Island Records? WTF? Mo'Wax?

  • I grew up in New York, this was me and my crews anthem

  • Trip Hop

  • sam fisher is fuckin' angry now.

  • my love for good music brought me here.

  • dark days brought me here

  • dude ! this is seriously serious !!!

  • producing

  • I have 90k songs of varying genera, I'm not even lieing. Do you guys think I could produce enough samples to create something a quarter of the awesomeness DJ Shadow has made?

  • @ilackedtheheart well, yeah. how the fuck can you have 90,000 songs? its not the quantity as much as just creative gift.

  • To think DJ Shadow produced this with nothing but vinyl records and some analogue recording equipment.

Not to take away from modern DJ's and producers, but the fact that DJ Shadow created this album from noting from samples and did it with such "primitive" equipment is a monument to his genius.

If I could be half the creative genius he is with such modern equipment, I would be satisfied with what I have produced. He's the last of the great producers in my opinion.

  • Half life poke 646

  • Jabbawockeez anyone? lol

  • Beautiful music. :)

  • Endtroducing is the only album I can think of that both created a genre and was never topped subsequently by anyone (including Shadow himself).

  • @TheIcemanMorgan I wouldn't say it "Created a genre" but it definitely is a classic album even 15 years later

  • this song is good on anything !!__!!

  • is this song good high?

  • DJ Shadow and RJD2 for life!

  • @DJH4ZELL They used it in splinter cell?!?! For fuck's sake! Fucking videogame industry! Nothing is sacred to those money grabbing scumbags...

  • @connor828

they pay to use it, the only person you could accuse of being a 'money grabbing scumbag' is shadow himself. anyway if you'd play the game in question you'd know it fits in well and definately adds to it, I fail to see how introducing more people to this sick music is a bad thing

  • This song + a rainy day; equal to or greater than BLISS.

  • Jabbawockeez have very high taste for music!

  • @RedAddict90

What? They used this song in something??? Link plz!

  • Jabbawockeez :]

  • thumbs up if you were listening to your copy of this album in 97, have been preserving it as a relic ever since in your collection and still listen to it from time to time..

  • What makes cancer tenacious

  • this is legendary...Splinter Cell Ayos!

  • Hello, Jabbawockeez fans. :)

  • I herd this song on an Episode of CSI NY and i thought for a second i know i herd this song before but from where, then i remembered Splinter Cell Conviction.

  • Yiruma brought me here .-.

  • @timwins31 LOL

  • @timwins31 LOL U USE DRUGS U R NO SMART PERSON LOLOLOLOOLOLOLLOOLOLOL *Troll faic*

  • @Sinan12s I'm no smart person? First off I can type in proper English. Not idiotic text abbreviations.

I also have a Masters Degree from Texas Tech and work for Texas Instruments, a Fortune 500 company.

DJ Shadow is also known for using hallucinogenic substances when he creates music, as are many other musicians.

I guess they're all stupid too eh?

  • @timwins31 sorry i was in a troll mood yesterday :P

if you use drugs or alchohol or smoke then its your own opponoin

and this music is very great! =)

    Sorry again :)

  • @timwins31 Your "credentials" mean nothing, the work you put into getting them is what matters.

  • @timwins31

    Trolled softly.

  • @timwins31 I think I may have been in that same Cadillac tripping my balls off.

  • @timwins31 whats a moon roof

  • @timwins31 First time I heard this, I was sober and clearheaded as fuck, walking through the city with my back pack full of paints. But it had the same impact.

  • @elspoko I'm sure you did.

  • @elspoko ive stopped street art now, but i completely noe wat u mean, i nvr listened to him wen walkn with my paints, but i bet u felt pretty cool with the music playin :P

  • @elspoko

the f irst time i saw it was at a live concert and my eyes hurt from not blinking. and yes, it was better live.

  • ok so i remember listening to this song like 2 years ago and then i found a song with a really weird video and it starts with a kid asking "daddy can you read me a bedtime story?" and the dad is like "ok kids" and i cant remember it. i was led to it by this video. if you know the song plz message me it'd be tight

  • @MrDansMusic

Might be "Walkie Talkie" by DJ Shadow

  • @BloodLayer thanks so much man!!

  • Today a good friend of mine showed me this song and the artist. I must say:

this is the best thing i've ever heard!

  • I can't believe, as an avid hip-hop fan who is obsessed with the genre, it has taken me so long to find out about this album. I'm so ashamed and annoyed that I wasn't listening to this years ago.

  • @dnjp4life Same here. This album was released in 1996, and yet I heard about it around 2009. I bought it a day after Christmas (while buying my mom a Gospel CD for her birthday, which was 5 days after Christmas) and man, I am glad that I discover it because it is one of the best things of all time.

  • Love this

  • Compelling tune which still amazes me after more than a decade. Shadow's moved on to other things now but it must be hard to live up to this masterpiece and the power it holds over its listeners. The xylophone sample still dissolves me into bliss.

  • Cartoon Network Gundam Wing advert.

  • Kevin Brewer's ridiculously SICK freestyle brought me here.

  • @princesspica9 check out Lil Buck's freestyle to this....

  • splinter cell :)

  • kutlied

  • tairy hesticles HAHA

  • Does anyone know the meaning behind the title 'building steam with a grain of salt'? I'd love to hear opinions.

For some reason, I feel it has something to do with consciousness.

  • @AstralEtheric NaCl being used to trigger a neuron to send a message?

  • Thank you, Poke646.
