  • great :) also ur trailor is big in the UK they are small and pokey

  • can i add strawberries to the filling after it's blended ?

  • @mem0o0 The water in the fruit concerns me. If it yields juice while baking, it might dilute the custard and prevent it from setting. It might be fun to experiment. Drier ingredients, like shredded coconut, would be fine. How about this? Make the pie as usual. Decorate the top with sliced fresh strawberries (you could even add other berries) and garnish each serving with a dollop of whipped cream. This idea excites me!

  • @mem0o0 I did some research and didn't find, yet, a recipe in which the berries cook in the custard. I did find recipes in which the pie shell was baked blind (empty), the custard was made on the stove, the berries were combined with the cooked custard, and poured into the shell and then chilled. It's another idea that I like.

  • @whitetrashcookingcom thanks alot for your answers, i'll make sure i try this sometime soon :)

  • Love the trick with the parchment paper! That'll be much easier when shaping the dough (with or without a rolling pin). And of course transferring it to the baking tin. Thanks!!

  • @ptrbssr Thanks for the encouraging feedback. I'm embarassed to admit I didn't think of the parchment paper until recently. Once I learned about parchment paper I started coming up with all kinds of uses for it.

  • Plain custard pies are heavenly to me but they are anything than plain when it comes to that creamy texture, it's an island favorite and like you prefer a custard pie as first choice but won't complain if I have a pumpkin pie w/a whipped cream topping. I think you're the first to have a plain custard pie recipe on youtube. Great timing for posting this during the holiday season............Thanks
