  • Hey, we were told by our surgeon that heavy women have high levels of estrogen, and that when you have WLS, those levels start to dramatically drop. So, your body is basically going through the feelings of menopause. He perscribed us estrogen patches for mood swings. I know this is an old video. But wanted to throw this thought out there.

  • 60 plus pounds lost in 3 months is amazing hon...keep your head up..it will come off..

  • Thanks so much!

  • P.S. Did you notice that even your voice has changed... and your speech.. WOW!!! You look and sound terrriiiffffiiiccccc!!!!! I am so proud of you babe

  • About the depression... Most people experience it w/in the first 3 months... Just think you have had MAJOR changes moving, surgery, new lifestyle, and loss of body/food... Do not chalk it up to clinical depression until you cannot firmly point a finger to any stressors. Right now you have a TON of stressors including Birth control/hormone changes, Just wait it out.. YOU GOT THIS BABE!!! Go through the feelings completly, do not push it down, somehow I feel most of us got here doing just that!!

  • Have you thought about meeting with a local surgeon? Maybe they would be more knowledgeable.

  • You're completely right and I don't know why I didn't consider that before. I guess I thought a physician would be sufficient.

  • Wow I am already seeing the transformation from you ealrier videos....I am pre-op myself I go in on July 2nd..I was lucky enough to get my insurance to cover it....Congrats girl!!

  • Congradulations! I'm so happy for you and it's great that you're getting it covered. Please keep us updated :)

  • I do slip a little in and out of depression. I was depressed before surgery...I don't think I have a reason to be either, but depression has no prejudice. It doesn't care who it infects. I recommend getting out, doing something directly for yourself, maybe take on a project. It get easier, seems like after surgery, it takes you brain time to catch up with what is happening, you know, the burial of all foods once enjoyed, and the feeling. Good Luck!

  • That's really good advice Angela, thank you. The burial of all foods once enjoyed is still happening and I think it's subconsciously affecting me. Thanks so much for your support!

  • Congrats so far,and great job...you look great and happy...keep up the good work,I wish you the best take care.....Daniel

  • Thanks a bunch!

  • You are looking so good. I think some people said they have anxiety after the surgery, but I am not sure about depression. Good luck and keep up the good work :)

  • Thanks for the support! Yeah, I've heard anxiety is pretty common, too. I guess we'll find out about depression. Hope you have a good weekend :)

  • Thanks :)

  • You look amazing! I am so happy and proud for you!..I dealt with a lot of anxiety before the surgery and at times I thought I was depressed..It is hard but I kinda just aloud myself to feel..whatever it was happy or sad..just take some time for yourself and center your thoughts think positive and breath! Do things that make you happy. I am here for you if you ever need to talk..I am sending goodvibes your way! xxoo Cora

  • Wow, that's really good advice. Thanks Cora. It's hard to just let go and feel whatever you're feeling. I've been trying the "think positive" thing for the last few days and I think it's working! Thanks a bunch...can't wait to see more videos from you :)

  • wow,you are looking great. Very proud of you.

I dont know about the depression, havent had my surgery yet, but I do know you have been through alot of emotional and physical changes and I would imagine some depression is normal. As the other poster said,, check the doctor, I am sure he or she can help you.

    again, good going

  • Thank you! Yeah, I guess with all the physical changes you go through with surgery there's bound to be some emotional recourse. I hope your son is well! (and did you hear about your psych eval?)

  • You look great! WTG on joining the gym! Can't wait to see more of your videos.

  • Thanks! Hope you're still doing well :)

  • You look really great :) Don't worry about the stall (plateaus last for a couple of months usually)!!! They happen often :P Usually right around when you're supposed to get your period.. so your body retains water and after the stall ends, you drop quite a few pounds REALLY quickly

  • Thanks Laura :) Stalls are lame! But I guess it's all worth it as long as I lose in the end...hope you're doing well!

  • You look great. You are doing fabulous. Congrats on the gym. I have to get back to mine as well. The depression thing. NORMAL totally normal. Talk to your doctor about it today. But don't feel alone I would bet 90% of WLS go thru depression at one point or another. So Talk to your doctor. Hang in there. And keep up the FANTASTIC work!! ~Nicol
