I have sent various messages to users like: MediocreFilms & also to cdrdj & also a few others and I have gotten 0 answers from close to 10 messages I sent. I guess those people are too important to respond to messages from people like me or they hava a secret they don't want to reveal...!!!

This is all wrong... The video quality differs on the type of footage you have. 320x240 mpg encoding doesn't give high quality to everything. You just have to try different resolutions and compression rates/types to see what works best for your vids.

depending on your program it will change but basically all you have to do is change your output quality when exporting it or import it into something like windows movie maker and change the size to the number you want

For just videologging a face 21 fps is enough, 24 is fine too (still used a LOT in cinema), and 25 fps is a more than perfect frame rate. 30 is just overkill, to be honest. It's not even 30, it's 30000/1001, or 29.97 fps.

YT doesn't have the percentage bar anymore. From what you're saying, it's doing exactly what it should. Just leave it on the upload screen and it should go through fine. Kinda sucks that they don't show the progress bar anymore, but at least the uploads are quicker. Last week, I got a 3:30 vid up in about 15 minutes.

lol what a lameass video. Anyway MPEG4 is the best way to go. The best thing to have is a video editor program that can export your video as MPEG4(a.k.a H.264)with a Youtube preset. Adobe Premiere Pro can do just that.
And also while using a video editor, it's best to keep the resolution of your source clips the same as the project settings. I used to use clips that were 352x480 when my project settings were defaulted at 720x480. Then when I resized my source clips to 720x480, the quality improved vastly. If you've done that already and your videos still turn out like crap, then probably the source video from the dvd you captured from had poor quality in the first place.
This just does not cover enough settings, plus some of these things aren't really available in the program I'm using (maybe some of these settings are too old?).
Oh my gosh!! This is just awful! Just get to the point. This video is not even remotely entertaining...it's embarassing. Just list the settings and stop torturing us.

For movie maker users: When you save a file, save it as high quality video (large). It has 30 frames per second and 640x420 . or you could save it as small. 320x240
wow..not very helpful. my problems are not with fuzzy or choppy conversions. Its massively pixilated and sounds like crap. converting my music videos to 64bit mono is just wrong. I've got to wonder if this isn't really about hard drives and bandwidth.
I think Youtube is full of SHI#. How many people have uploaded their video to 320 by 240, 30fps, etc and it still looks CRA#. They just say that so it saves space and work on their Youtube servers. Why do all the popular high rated subscribed channels have excellent quality vids like lonelygirl15 for example. I bet Youtube makes exceptions for those channels.

Please YouTube, increase the filesize limitation by at least 50MB's. Even 150MB's would help alot. 10mins of video + audio with WMV9 encoding is 'still' 153MB's. The compression is alot better than Xvid for filesize and it's still too big! :'( I'm dyin here trying to find a solution.

This is NOT enough info...not cute either. While compressing videos on various programs, there are many parameters to check on/off, bit rates, hi-med-low...Please put some of your GOOGLE brains on this to provide specific info, screen shots of iMovie, MovieMaker, QT, etc. Ie, should one select "compress for download...hinting" or not?

I also don't agree with the Divx format thing. In the past, when I uploaded in that format, the audio desyncs really badly. What I have to do is save using Fast Motion Divx ;-) (don't know where I got that codec though...) and recompress the audio in Mp3, Direct Steam Copy won't work. (I use VirtualDub) Then I use Riva FLV encoder, use the Divx bitrate calculator I just mentioned to figure out what bitrate I need and convert my video to .FLV and upload that. THAT's what works best for me.
Actually, I found that the higher resolution I upload my videos in, the sharper the video is. I sometimes upload my videos in 640 x 480, sometimes 512 x 384, sometimes 480 x 360. I go lower for longer videos so I can stretch the video data out, resulting in less compression artifacts. By the way, I use the Divx bitrate calculator to figure what bitrate I need to stay just below the 100MB limit. It can be accessed through VirtualDub if you have the Divx codec installed.

For movie maker users: When you save a file, save it as high quality video (large). It has 30 frames per second and 640x420 . or you could save it as small. 320x240

wow..not very helpful. my problems are not with fuzzy or choppy conversions. Its massively pixilated and sounds like crap. converting my music videos to 64bit mono is just wrong. I've got to wonder if this isn't really about hard drives and bandwidth.

I think Youtube is full of SHI#. How many people have uploaded their video to 320 by 240, 30fps, etc and it still looks CRA#. They just say that so it saves space and work on their Youtube servers. Why do all the popular high rated subscribed channels have excellent quality vids like lonelygirl15 for example. I bet Youtube makes exceptions for those channels.

my videos have all been uploaded with the file extension, '.avi'. until now. now all i get after upload in the broadcast field is 'failed'. it doesnt tell me why it failed. how can i find out whats wrong. im using the same format ive always used. the video is less than 30 seconds long. video taken with same camera as the successful uploads. WHY ISNT IT WORKING NOW??? *WAAAAH!!!*

Please YouTube, increase the filesize limitation by at least 50MB's. Even 150MB's would help alot. 10mins of video + audio with WMV9 encoding is 'still' 153MB's. The compression is alot better than Xvid for filesize and it's still too big! :'( I'm dyin here trying to find a solution.

I figured out how to get High Quality Videos for Upload to YouTube, converting your videos into the Flash Video Format (FLV) using the Total Video Converter 3.10 and some special settings explained in this tutorial.

NOTICE: videos converted to FLV format with another programs(Adobe Premier, VirtualDub, Riva Encoder, Sorenson Squeeze), will be and degraded by YouTube Servers, in the same way like other formats.

Yeah liks to the format sites would be the very least to expect, i love how youtube uses 320x240 and streaches it to 425x320 and sayes that is chrips quality.
Not to mention the crapy conversion they make to .flv.

This is not enough info, please don't dumb down. Have you searched YouTube itself to see how many ways people are trying to get the best quality compression? This is NOT enough info...not cute either. While compressing videos on various programs, there are many parameters to check on/off, bit rates, hi-med-low...Please put some of your GOOGLE brains on this to provide specific info, screen shots of iMovie, MovieMaker, QT, etc. Ie, should one select "compress for download...hinting" or not?

hey guys...i use divx export for the most part...i try other stuff too...i export witht he settings they suggest...ive even tried other sites with different suggestions
but every time i upload to youtube it comes out pixilated! or really low quality! does anyone have a suggestion i could do to make my video come out like the one i am commenting?
by the way i use final cut express on a mac so there should deff be somehtin to export on that! or somethin i should do differently!

I also don't agree with the Divx format thing. In the past, when I uploaded in that format, the audio desyncs really badly. What I have to do is save using Fast Motion Divx ;-) (don't know where I got that codec though...) and recompress the audio in Mp3, Direct Steam Copy won't work. (I use VirtualDub) Then I use Riva FLV encoder, use the Divx bitrate calculator I just mentioned to figure out what bitrate I need and convert my video to .FLV and upload that. THAT's what works best for me.

Actually, I found that the higher resolution I upload my videos in, the sharper the video is. I sometimes upload my videos in 640 x 480, sometimes 512 x 384, sometimes 480 x 360. I go lower for longer videos so I can stretch the video data out, resulting in less compression artifacts. By the way, I use the Divx bitrate calculator to figure what bitrate I need to stay just below the 100MB limit. It can be accessed through VirtualDub if you have the Divx codec installed.
