@gnarlyanimal i know a couple operators that have lost their cranes,1 for berglund cont and 1 in newyork cant remember the name.both union both the I Os fault
This ist a crane on rails. The break was released and The rails are not horizontally. When The end bumper was reached The Impulse collapsed The crane to One side.
Maybe the driver wanted to prevent it.. Ever balanced a stick on your hand? If it falls to the left, you can make a quick motion to that side to blance it again..
The signal from meteorologists about approach of a thunder-storm hasn't arrived and nobody was prepared. Weather has deteriorated literally for 10-15 minutes and the first flaw was such force that 2 cranes have swept. крановщица has had time to go down 2 flights while that slid. It has broken off half-and-half. As 3 assemblers were lost. Now mailing on the organizations about weather comes on some times in a week...
I run tower cranes for a living. Usually in building construction tower cranes are stationary, bolted into concrete. When tower cranes are mounted on rails they move very slowly (less than 50 feet per minute). There is a brake on the carrier wheels that automatically engage usually 3 seconds after placed in neutral. These brakes apparently failed. The crane probably hit the stops at the end of the rail stopping the bottom but obviously not the top:)
i think that the crane was on rails and pushed by the wind so there is the same system you can see for stopping the trains at the end of the rails ...im sorry for my bad english, now in french , la grue set sur des rails de translation et le vent la pousse , arrivée a la fin de la voie , il y a des butoirs metalliques qui stoppent net la partie basse de la grue mais l'elan prit par la partie haute fait que toute la tour tombe
It was obviously being blown along , Had he have thought at the time he should have travelled in the opposite direction and this would have stopped ir.........wise after the event
@OsCassador Mar 17 2008 - Three more bodies were recovered from a Manhattan neighborhood following the crash of a giant construction crane over the weekend.
whele it looks like there is a storm and the brakes the prefent the crane from moving arent loked or broke because of the presure any how i hope there warnt death it this one
@marcel911 some cranes ar on rails just like this one. when its lifting the opperator uses brakes to stop the crane from moving. this time the opperator forgotten to lock thoes brakes so the crane could move free on his tracks. at the end the tracks stops and the crane fell of the tracks making it unstable whit the fall as result. i hope you get me this time greets :D

@eliasshedd - that thing moved quick... i figured the brakes would be so packed that not much movement would happen

Some tower cranes have rails built on site to move the crane around. Obviously there were rails as you can see it was pushed perfectly down the line.
