  • i once saw a blue jay that got its wing ripped off, then i took in arrow in the knee (i also killed it to put it out of its misery)

  • Well, Hey, the hawk has to eat. It's not just gonna stop hunting smaller animals because we don't like it. This is nature. It has to kill to eat. Just like what ever you guys are eating. Plants or animals. What ever you need to eat, it had to die before you ate it right? P.S. Yep, That hawk earned its meal!!!

  • last week there were a bunch of blue jays cawing at this hawk because the hawk was eating one of the babies.

  • DAMN NATURE YOU SCARY !

  • I believe we humans have an obligation to hunt and kill to extinction all species that we ourselves do not eat. This would eliminate the possibility of sensitive-types witnessing such barbaric acts of nature. Except for platypuses. They crack me up.

  • Birds are mean lol

  • ah i have one that lives by my backyard. Yesterday i saw it doin' its thing in the sky could barely see it, then it started to descend and in like 3 seconds it was right above the trees, awesome. Sometimes s(he) lands in a tree out front, their facial expression is priceless they look at you like "say whaaat"

like you people never seen a cat or a dog kill a bird...they dont even eat it, they just play with it.

  • The hawk is killing and eating a bird. It's a natural and necessary event in the cycle of nature. The person freeking out ate plants and animals that were killed to provide them with necessary food. The sickening thing is that people are so out of touch with nature. That's why the world is in trouble. I suggest people turn off the TV and video games and go for regular walks in the woods to learn something about the world and millions of other creatures that live in it.

  • @gladw2c I totally agree!!

  • poor,poor Mordecai....

  • @IvyLULZ lol. I know.. ;A;

  • @IvyLULZ NO!!!!!!!!!!! MORDECAI IS DEAD!

  • that bird is a real "peckerhead"

  • @Alipashaa I'll bet you'l hit, kill, cripple more wildlife in your baby-bleu BMW.

    BITCH!

  • why don't you go to help the poor bird...How can you record this video when you see the bird is suffering... :@

    YOU ARE HEARTLESS

  • @Alipashaa Dude, he is not heartless. the hawk is just trying to get a meal. he cant go to the supermarket like we can. he is taking long to kill him because the hawk is young, and also because the blue jay is quite an adversary, not much smaller than the hawk. it would kill it faster if it could. the BBC or the Discovery channel show animals killing and eating other animals all the time. does that make them heartless too?

  • mimic me again i dare you!!!!

  • Wildlife often eats their victims alive...

  • Ouch ouch ouch...stop plucking my feathers!!

  • sad shit :/

  • one killed a bluejay out of like a flock in my driveway this morning... the flock was insanely loud..

  • I'd like to be pecked to death

  • Peck peck peck, ure dead....

  • @chubfisherman that can be arranged

  • hawk keeps lookin around like Yeah Im the man!

  • That's one ballsy Sharpie!

  • very cool video

  • great video

  • That Blue Jay is a soldier.

  • "FINISH HIM!"

  • Nature is awesome.

  • Horrible way to go.

  • Actually studies have shown that only 1% of blue jays eat eggs/nestlings. I always hated them until I heard this. Still dont care for them ....

  • It's a Sharpie you can tell by the width of the legs a male coops would have more definition on his head and he would have thicker legs.

  • Nature is fucked up.

  • who cares about the blue jay , they are vile and cruel , destroying another birds nest...

    go hawk YEAH!!!!!

  • A blue-jay killed my baby pet bird that I found and sheltered for 2 weeks. It was next to me and a blue jay bit its neck so I kicked the blue jay and killed it *YAY* but my bird died in one minute. BLUE JAYS SUCK!

  • @tshotblue22 Thats the natural balance of life. Deal with it.

  • Nature is neither good or evil. Nature simply is.

  • It's pretty pathetic when people yammer about "SAVE THE BLUEJAY" on videos like this.

What would saving the Bluejay do?

It would only cause the hawk to lose a meal so the person taping it wouldn't have to see nature take it's course. The hawk would just rip apart another bird live somewhere else. My god people.

  • hey wsarmenianpower youi are retarded YOU IDIOT soSHUT UP YOU IDIOT YOU UGLY ROTTEN PIECE OF POOOOOP YOU GAY FO OH AND BY THE WAY LLIL WAYN ROCKS AND YOU S.U.C.K HAHAHAHAHAHAHA IDIOTIC BRAT GO TO THE DEVIL YOU IDIOT

  • National geographic does it

They film Lions tearing apart Zebras so people can watch and learn on TV

  • Its actually a Coopers Hawk, but awesome video!!! To all you dumbasses who feel bad for the jay. get a fucking life, this is how nature works.

  • Coops? Based on what? Certainly not size, markings, or flight style...so what did you base this on? Just curious. Me thinks its a brave sharpie.

  • i'm pretty sure its a sharp-shinned, not a cooper

  • Sharp shinned hawks are smaller. A coopers hawk is much bigger. Just see how big the blue jay looks to the hawk.

  • BlueJays are mean birds

I've seen Bluejays eat other baby birds and attack nests of other smaller birds

what goes around comes around lol

  • Hard to say...male Coop or female Sharpie?

  • FYI, these hawks specialize in preying on other birds, and typically pick off old or ill individuals that are easier to catch. The help remove ill individuals from the population and are important for keeping diseases in check. I understand that this can disturb some people, but this is great footage of something that most people are not able to see.

  • mutha nature is a muthafucka

  • poor bird

  • WHAT!?! Save the Blue Jay, why? It 's much tougher for the immature Sharpie to get a meal than a Blue Jay at some backyard feeder. That hawk earned that meal!

  • @RobDom123412

due to bird feeders and large populations of birds, especially invasive species, these urban hawks have a buffet of bird meat. not just bird meat, but grain fed bird meat.

so yes they earn their food, but their food isn't exact rare or hard to come by. if it misses it can try again 30 minutes later once feeder activity has resumed. watch hawks kill birds in a neighbors yard every day.

  • @RobDom123412 shut up you bastard, you must be thrown to these many hawks and you must be made a meal to these hawks so they may eat you as their meal then you will like and and they will earn you as a meal. so of a bitch

  • @TheGreatPakistani What do you have to say when a Blue Jay eats another young baby bird or just plain throws it out of its nest? Or how about those insects they eat, they are living creatures as well? That is nature. If this hawk was not allowed to kill prey to eat, it would die.

  • next, we'll see PETA picketing the hawk's nest...

  • Yeah, but the hawk is definitely a juvenile (note the plumage coloration) and likely an inexperienced hunter. As he gets better at it, I'm sure he will kill quicker, if only to protect itself from possible damage from a struggling prey.

  • Poor mr bluejay, he took a long time to die.

  • He still wasn't dead after the clip ended

  • ..seems like a rather painful way to die..

  • is it me or does it seem birds kill more brutally than big cats. these wild birds stab there prey and pulled them apart, very slow and painful death, wild cats suffocate, its a slow death but less painful.

  • You sure don't see them bleed or struggle but it still takes a few minutes

  • SuperARC, this is a young bird. Just a few months old at most. He is not yet an experienced hunter. as he gets older and better, he'll be able to kill its food faster. It's to their advantage to kill quickly so they can avoid injury and so that they are not exposed to other dangers while on the ground. So he's not taking his time because hawks are cruel. He just doesn't know better.

  • well sorry m8 but altho crows and jays ... and other members if the crow family *mug* birds of prey its 99.9% impossible for them to injure the bird, birds of prey can easily out fly any crow and also... a jay can crack a nut but a hawk can crack bone so.... they cant do shit rly cept chase them off... its not a real serious fight at all lol ive seen peregrines kill geese... bout 6 times larger than a peregrine but the falcon takes the gooses head off ...

  • accipiters certainly are "action" hawks...that sharpie was on FIRE! A jay is a real serious fight for a sharpie...nice footage! The blue jays here torment our poor local sharpies...and I've seen them chasing birds as big as robins and pigeons....but they hate the jays and I'm yet to see one attack a blue jay....the jays gang up and fight back hard with a sharp beak and neck muscles that can crack hazel nuts open. Again ..nice footage!

  • very nice shot. young hawk. did not know how to kill the jay quickly but it will learn soon enough:)

  • Nature is cruel.

  • Nature is beautiful!!

  • but your name is cat in the vat...

  • So? It's a name. For all you know, it could refer to a cat in a vat of comfy bedding and cat food. What's your point?

  • it strikes up an image differently from person to person so i really dont care but i kinda lol'ed when i read your name

  • nice catch
