I kind of assumed Maleficent to be a more mature character, with a booming commanding voice and a pet crow. These two seem more like teenagers gossiping. Even worse, she has a pony. What the fuck?! That and her design needs work. Lots of work. Seriously. Whats with her hair?!

Sandira thank you finally somene sees wht I see. First when I refeered to hades I was talking about how he backs dow to her in the kingdom hearts series. Second ok we all know maleficent is themistress of evil so she could've easily called down meteors on the bitch. Third I hate tha they got this wrinkled barbie to play maleficent I mean come on use an actor with some attitude like angelina jolie, jessica alba, or megan mullally come on ho wouldn't wonna ee kren walker as maleficent.

Also, this might have been a rare opportunity in which someone got the upper hand on her (like how Prince Phillip, with the help of the three good fairies, got the upper hand on her in the Disney version). This is most likely only a minor setback, like how it was a minor setback when the fairies took Briar Rose / Aurora into hiding for 16 years.

I don't mind this Maleficent. I imagine that after her pet raven got turned to stone (assuming she has one in this version) she wanted another pet, and that pony/unicorn was the best she could do. After all, I imagine she was really attached to the pet. Also, remember that Maleficent did refer to the queen as "old friend". She most likely wasn't utilizing her magic to the fullest.

Ok first off we all know maleficent is stronger than the queen so this was b.s. I mean come on maleficent can turn into a big ass dragon and on top of that even hades back downs to her and he's suppose to be a freakin god so whoever wrote this part of the show should kick rocks I don't like how they made maleficent look or how weak they portrayed her. If anything maleficent should have the evil queens outfit

@Raizen8tails Hades wasn't even in the movie. I, and I'm sure others as well, believe Sleeping Beauty to be the only canonical movie Maleficent is in. At the very least, it is a different "version" of Maleficent, like how this Snow White is different from the one in the Disney version.

i am a MASSIVE Sleeping Beauty and disney fan....and i adore this show its so clever. HOWEVER. gotta say im very disappointed in the girly girl image of Maleficent. I get that this is after Prince Phillip and Auroras happily ever after and Maleficent moved on...but why make her so soft???? and so girly and blonde..and the unicorn? I personally love all that, but Maleficent is kind of the opposite of how shes portrayed here.

In the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale (not the Disney version), did Maleficient have a pet (and if so, what is it a crow)?

As for being defeated easily, I would assume that either 1) the evil queen just happened to get the upper hand in what might be a very rare instance or 2) Maleficient was not using her full powers since the evil queen was her only friend.

@mitmfan Yes, Maleficent had her raven, Diablo, who was turned to stone in her film.

Regardless of who was actually the stronger of the two, the Queen took advantage of using the "ponycorn", as others have called it, against Maleficent because she knew Maleficent cared for it. That's why afterwards she said, "Love is weakness Maleficent. I thought you knew that."

@mitmfan Granted it's been a while since I read the original story, so someone who knows more can correct me, but I severely do not remember any pet. She also has a way smaller role and disappears right after cursing the baby, not much time or need to introduce a pet.

I really love Kristin Bauer but they could've reconsider the styling for Maleficent.It really bursted my bubble seeing her as blonde Maleficent with pinky details and pony substituting the raven.Damn it.

The Evil Queen and Maleficent are my favorites, so I love seeing the two of them together! And I always thought the Queen could fight if she was given the chance to in her movie, since she could do magic and was certainly evil enough. (Though whether she'd win against Maleficent is a different story).

That being said, the only thing I question is, when did the Mistress of All Evil become the moral one?

some things i would change about maleficent:

1. dye her hair black (because everytime i look at kristin i just see pam from true blood) - she's a dark fairy after all.

2. get rid of the accent (is it just me or does she have a slight southern drawl?)

3. give her a replacement crow ... instead of a unicorn? lol

i find it hard to believe such a thing like maleficent was so easily defeated.

but the only reason i'm going to continue watching is because i adore kristin bauer :)

1-Maleficent's hair was never shown in the Disney version...and I've no clue of the original story. Her having blonde hair is plausible.

2-I don't hear any accent. Maybe you're just used to True Blood. xD

3-Her crow was turned to stone in the original story. So her having a NEW pet is understandable.

4-I also agree that she was beaten too easily..

1. maleficent's a dark fairy. dark fairies are meant to have dark hair and dark clothes. common knowledge really..

and even if she did have blonde hair, it would still give her a gothic edge which i think is much needed.

Personally i like their interpretation of Maleficent. Aesthetically shes not that intimidating like the animated incarnation, but she does have that creepy/attractive quality to her. And she displays superior knowledge when it comes to magic and the concept of equivalent exchange. The queen acts on impulse alone it seems. Plus, the only reason the The Queen got the drop on her was because of that damn pony corn thing. Can't wait to see how this develops! :D

I like the classic character of her, but I am not upset that the show took her character in a new direction...as long as she comes back and proves the she is the Mistress of all Evil LOL.

I love this show so far... Reminds me of The 10th Kingdom in regards to fairytale crossovers, but I'm glad we finally get to see a live action Maleficent! Okay, I wish she was green or at least have the horns, but an interesting interpretation. Love Kristin Bauer who reminds me of Michelle Pfeiffer a bit, but I agree, Maleficent would kick the Queen's ass! She was always my favorite Disney Villain. FYI, I believe there is a Maleficent movie in the works...

@santoouin I feel like and HOPE than if this show survives...because ABC cancels everything...that Maleficent could be the "Big Bad" of Season 2. It would show more depth of her evilness ESPECIALLY if the Queen dies, considering that she is her only friend.
