Unfortunately theists inform government policy and lobby to promote their cause to the detriment of others (birth control, stem cell research, foreign policy). It's no good just being an atheist and sitting on the fence when deluded people who believe in an invisible entity think their agenda is more important than others. We hate because YOU taught us to hate. Of course not all believers are evil. Met some nice believers who are friends of mine, whether Catholic, Christian fundamentalists, Jews and Muslims. I am a recent convert to atheism after years with "deistic" and "agnostic" attitudes. We "hate" because we suffered traumas from many "Christian" churches' ugly doctrines of hell, sin and fear of the end of the world. We hate because many churches I went taught me to "hate sinners, unbelievers, Jehovah's Witnesses, adventists and others". If I was in a Christian fundamentalist type, saw the minister beating his own daughters face. That was back in 1966 as kid.

For example, I was raised in a fundamental christian cult - the jehovahs witnesses. Now I´m an atheist and I can understand both ways of thinking. I agree with you that many atheists sounds bitter and hateful, but for my understanding it´s more an ironical and sarcastic expression.

I'm never irritated by those saying "I believe in god", my best friend is a Christian. But I do get angry at a lot of things Christianity has caused such as many of the immoral laws, heresy and witch hunts, arbitrary crusades and countless sufferings made throughout history. It doesn't 'offend' me, I just recognise that when religious institutions/churches hurt individuals, it's wrong.

I'll start by saying I'm an atheist but hopefully you won't see me as an angry one. Perhaps there are some good passages in the bible once you strip away all the "god" bits as you said but I still think there would be room for argument against some of its views and teachings. The inherent problem with Christianity is the human aspect. Interpretation. Nigerians killing kids that they believe are witches or the church condemning the use of condoms in AIDs ridden countries in Africa.

@grahamzhiser I do not know how atheists act against muslims and jews. I know for a fact though that there IS hate from atheists on christians. I see the comments, people talking around. As christianity/atheism is the biggest part of around here, it is only natural that we see more atheists bashing christianity as it wouldn't have as much as an impact if it was anything else, as it is what would make the biggest impact around here. In other places, I just do not know how it goes.

For example, the average Christian do believe in the existence of Allah, Zeus, Thor, Ra or any of the other gods that came along.
Therefore most atheists are really just 99% atheist in that they only believe in their god. All they have to do is stop believing in their god to be 100% atheist.

I am a recent convert to atheism after years with "deistic" and "agnostic" attitudes. We "hate" because we suffered traumas from many "Christian" churches' ugly doctrines of hell, sin and fear of the end of the world. We hate because many churches I went taught me to "hate sinners, unbelievers, Jehovah's Witnesses, adventists and others". If I was in a Christian fundamentalist type, saw the minister beating his own daughters face. That was back in 1966 as kid.

For example, I was raised in a fundamental christian cult - the jehovahs witnesses. Now I´m an atheist and I can understand both ways of thinking. I agree with you that many atheists sounds bitter and hateful, but for my understanding it´s more an ironical and sarcastic expression.

But I do get angry at a lot of things Christianity has caused such as many of the immoral laws, heresy and witch hunts, arbitrary crusades and countless sufferings made throughout history. Genesis 1:11-12 and 1:26-27 Trees came before Adam.
Genesis 2:4-9 Trees came after Adam.
Genesis 1:20-21 and 26-27 Birds were created before Adam.
Genesis 2:7 and 2:19 Birds were created after Adam.
I could go on for hours about contradictions in the bible. this proves that at least the bible is not 100% accurate.

@MagnusCattus 2/2 Additionally I would hold that most theists are more atheist then they are theist. Most theists believe in the supernatural though specifically only in their preferred deity. For example, the average Christian do believe in the existence of Allah, Zeus, Thor, Ra or any of the other gods that came along.
Therefore most atheists are really just 99% atheist in that they only believe in their god. All they have to do is stop believing in their god to be 100% atheist.
