  • Great vid that's how I do it 2 :)

  • I'm scared to whas mines... I got them like a month ago, and they are not mac but really nice and soft... And they were expensive, so i'm scared i ruin them.. why if they don't get the same shape? Cause some of them are for the eyes and have strange shapes, i'm scared that the hair will get like.. curly and not soft anymore... or gets dry with some other shape... what can i do? (Sorry about my english)

  • insted or leaving it at a horizontal angle take some tape and take the brush to the wall upside down so the bristles are facing the ground just to make sure no water gets in !

  • when washing stippling brushes one tip to help them keep their shape is if when you're done you tap it on your hand sideways while turning it in a circle. this may look kind of 'closed in' but the next morning you just have to use the stippling motion to kind of seperate it. also letting the water run down the other end of the ferrel lets water get in and seperate the glue also.

  • Great video! Kisses from Brazil.

  • Upload for 190 please.

  • I love your choice of music for your intro...

  • great vid! =D

  • i blow dry mine -.- is dat bad?

  • im interested to know how to dry the kabuki brush

  • hey your the first person i subscribe to. anyways, i was wondering how your brushes turned out after washing them with baby shampoo. i used the bare mineral shampoo and my mac brushes are still really soft after it dries. then one day i used vive shampoo and my 188 brush felt all nasty and stiff.

  • with the 187 what do you do everyday, between washes? do you till use it with old foundation, I want to use mine everyday but it's annoying

  • hi! i washed my mac 187 for the first time last night and i got a lot of flyaways from the outside black bristles! D: do you have any idea how to fix this? help please! thanks! :)

  • I washed my Mac 187 for the first time today and i got flyaways too...eek =(

  • Baby shampoo is not very mosterising for the brushes soo i use home made brush cleaner: i cup of water, 1/4 of a cup of rubbing achoal, and THREE, i repeat THREE teaspoons of shampoo i use shampoo because the water and rubbing achoal makes it mouisterisng. Also at walgreens they have eye makeup remover i use that too!!!!!! it is really simple to go to the top of the page and type in: Homemade Brush Cleaner SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO simple!! GOSH >:^( -----bR!Tt@Ny-----

  • amazing way to show us how to clean a brush but it hurt to watch on video how much water you waste :(

  • once my sister has used one of my big blush brushes, i always use it to do my foundation, blush etc.

    and?

the (not so) clever girl used it in glitter...

    GLITTER!

every single move is like tones and tones of glitter puffing all around you!

your clothing, your face, hands, sink, mirror, air is full of and/or covered in.. GLITTER!

i tried to get rid of it, i can't..

washing washing washing, useinf diff powders everything failed..

how can i get rid of this stupid shiny shine glitter?!

  • Use a salon shampoo. Hope that helps.

  • You should try not to get the wooden handle too wet or soapy, because it will end up rotting the wood and causing it to fall off.

  • dont use ur left hand!! its more dirty!

  • This is the exact way I clean my brushes but with the MAC brush cleanser!!

  • how should i clean my MAC 190 se brush?

  • how long to they take to dry?And is it okay if we dry it with a hairdryier?

  • Don't blow dry it !

    D:

It might make your brushes frizzy after it dries or lose its shape.

  • No hang them upside down, so the water dont rot the wood. Blow drying them will ruin them

  • can you use one of those alcohol based cleanser sprays to clean your foundation and powder brushes, as per method in part 1... or is it only best only for eyeshadow brushes?

I recently bought the spray, and used it on my stippling brush, it got rid of most of the colour, 'but it's not that bright white... I am more concerned that it's hygenic rather than white,,, will this be okay, and then every other day shampoo it? how often should I shampoo them?. Thanks for your input, and your videos!

  • The MAC counter says 2-3 times a week.

  • I noticed the brush that was left alone in the pink cup, is it a precision cheek brush??? If so what brand?

  • I was told to never let the handle of your mac brushes get wet as over time the water rots the wood.

  • yes but you can prevent that by not holding the brush part upward but downward so the water doesnt leak thru

  • Im going to try this method thanks!

  • lol yeah that is abit much cleanin but it is good to wash them like that like once a month but i would only wash em like once or twice every couple uses of the brush

  • there is always dirt u cant see lol

  • i was told my a professional mac artist that washing your brushes isnt a great ideea becuase it eventually dries the bristles up. just a word of advice

  • you're supposed to wash them

so however told you that is not really a professional

makeup is applied alot better with a clean [washed] brushed

    hollyy

  • i think its good you wash so many times...better safe than sorry

  • I was my brushes the same way but I don't wash each one 100 times.

  • can u use the brush cleanser from mac for the face brushes?

  • how often do u do this i have the brush set from mac and they i dont wont to mess them up how are your brushes are they still fluffy do they still work the same i want to tye your method holla back at me

  • how often do you do this? every day??

  • OK, I don't think it's entirely neccessary to wash your hands for 5 minutes before you touch the brushes that're gonna get washed already. It's not food that's going into your mouth.

  • Hygiene is hygiene. some people like to be safe.

  • well thats obvious but ur hands are dirty and it is just being extra careful as if there is any kind of dirt left on the brush from ur hands or from the brush itself it can get into ur pores on ur face or ur eyes etc and i dont think it wud be pleasnt for anyone to get a sore face

    lol

  • you can swirl.

  • Thanks for sharing, this is how I clean my brushes also :)

    Hugs.

    Hilary :)

  • Hi there,

No swirling is fine as long as your not too rough with it. Swirling the brush allows you to get all the makeup off the inner bristles.

    hugs,

    Hilary :)

  • You should definitely be cleaning your brushes more than twice a month. Especially if you use them every day. For obvious sanitary reasons.

  • they don't use actual alcohol

they use surgical spirit.. its not a drink

    lol

  • hey um ....remember how you said about the 129 from mac you said to run it under warm water do we have to do that with all the brushes or just that one

  • wait so let me get this straight, for like eyeshadow brushes you just use the spray, but for face brushes, you clean them in the sink? I just want to get it straight.

  • i was thinking about getting the mac heirloom brush set. how are the brushes?

  • yeah, the water can get into the handel of the brush and it can ruin(?) the glue that holds the brisels(?) together, so your entire brush can fall apart...

i hope you understood that...i don't know how to spell some of the words :):D

  • i've heard that your never suppose to turn a brush completely upside down while your washing the brush because it makes the water go down the handle. And sometimes many may turn it over but some water can stay in there and then mold can grow in there. is there any truth to this? My mom told me about it and i've always kinda followed it. I never flip my brush upside down..I make sure that the bristles are facing downward when i wash it.

  • I have a question, how often do you clean your brushes (assuming you use them everyday)

    Thx!

  • ur saposed 2 once a week

  • I clean them about twice a month, or sometimes if I'm not lazy maybe 3 times. =]

  • hey kat when u wash ur 187, does the outside black bristles stick out? as in fly aways? cuz i got a stippling brush from another brand and it's doing dat, i don't know if i'm washing it wrong or it's a bad quality brush=(

  • hey girl, right after i wash the 187, i get fly aways for a bit, when it is laying and still drying, but after it dries up the bristles all restore themselves and are straight again. i think i have like 2 strands that are sticking out. and the rest is fine. =]

  • hehee kinda figured dat out, when it's wet the black bristles on the outsie dries first dats why it looks like it's sticking out =D

  • Yes, and I like to be clean as well. You have no idea how much bacteria is harbored in your brushes. I'd rather not take the risk.

  • holy crap.. a 10 min video..! I jsut watched all of that! ur a hard worker =p

  • omg i clean my brushes exactly the same way lol it helps to use your hand because you can really see how the soap changes colour when it removes the makeup from the brushes

  • my eyes are really small...which makeup routine should i use to make them bigger? i was thinking the pink and grey but i only thought that because it made your eyes really big so...

  • any white/cream eyeshadow/eyeliner in the inner corners helps to open up your eyes and make them look bigger.

  • thanx for the 2 videos, bcause I have brushes and I didn't know know how to clean them.. ^,^

  • I clean my brushes the same way. Haha, I'm too impatient to use anything other than my hands :]

  • Thanks for the two videos! ;D

  • when did those brush sets come out? :( i wish i could've bought them haha!

  • mac comes out with special edition brush sets ever holiday season (november/december) and i know that mac/nordtsrom's "color forms" is coming out with brush sets as well.

  • i got them during the holiday set. just wait...i'm hoping they'll come out with some this summer!

  • i love your brushes, its short so den u can see urself better in the mirror if u know what i mean?!

  • hey i have a request can you do a video of your foundation/blush/concealer routine...or did you already do that? because i cant stand my freckles and my foundation does not work at all...

  • I do the same thing. it's the best i think ;)

  • Great video and love your brushes

  • How often do you clean your brushes? I think I clean them too much...

  • I clean them about twice a month.

  • Okay, thanks!

  • how often do you clean your brushes ?

  • i clean mine once a week, deep clean once a month

  • same as me ;)

  • I clean them about once a week [just wipe them on a wet paper towel].

About once a month, I soak them and wipe them with brush cleanser.

Is that too much? I'm kinda new to this lol.

  • that is just perfect :)

  • Oh, okay then. Thanks lol! :)
