  • Would you know the exact month and date of this show? Thanks for posting.

  • singer had the coolest haircut of the 80's

  • They were sooooo ahead of their time!!!

  • sigue sigue sputnik could have covered this one.

  • @xpi3000 you are a douche bag.

  • wow what a boring ass crowd............I wouldve been all over the place!!!!

  • GOD BLESS THE 80S!!!

  • Oh good grief. If you like this, your music collection must be horrific.

  • @runtsworth If you can't appreciate and like this, you have a very closed and pathetic brain!

  • they are playing in a couple of bars where I am, can't wait to see them in a couple of weeks,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • check out hte Nokeys if you want some new new wave music

thier song EYES OF RIOT IS GREAT

    Loving it in Northern Iteland

  • back then I used to dance all night to their music! Still makes me move - you can criticize them but they were one of the forerunners of New Wave and it was so different at the time - originality counts for a lot in my mind!

  • wooooooow Paul & Frank sounds awesome at the end as the background vocals :)

  • yeahhhhhhhh babyyyyyyyyy !!!!!!!!

  • My mom was driving my bro and I to see E.T. back in '82 when I first heard I Ran. It struck me, even as a little kid, how amazing that sound is. They still seem so forward reaching. I really consider them one of the greatest bands. The original lineup, anyway! I wish that Frank, Paul, & Ali would reunite as a three piece or with a new singer! Or with M. Score and write new stuff....

  • Rare vid, thanks for this!

    I love FOS. Always have.

25+ years later, it still hasn't worn off.

  • Just to help, when I was in high school, I saw these guys at Radio City Music Hall in NYC. LONG time ago. It was when this Album came out, I think 1982. The FIXX opened up for them and were absolutely great. Their Album was Reach the Beach. At any case, to respond to the description for this video, that noise was also at the Radio City performance. Part of the stage act I guess. Amazing how so many bands of the eighties actually predicted much of what was to come in our century....

  • This is REAL music! We need new wave music to come back!

  • Yeah New Wave is rad.

  • cheers to castrigula and troll , good tune!!!!

  • Great song! Thanks for posting!

  • 4 q u

  • no suena el bajo !!!

  • One of the most underrated bands of all time.

  • muy bueno

  • Cool!

  • That intro was sick!!

  • I think they sound great live! This and The more you live the more you love are my favs!

  • i loved it.

  • I went to a club in New York city early this year, and they were playing new rock music, and suddenly they played this song. I bet all the kids thought it was a new song, but blended with the new songs it sounded fresh, as if it was made in 2008.

  • monkeys are awesome

  • Was this the free gig at the Brixton Ace that was used for their video? If so I was there, at the front. I used to love this band, didn't like too many other electropop bands though. Mike did have good hair, don't know why he got so much stick about it.

  • Buenisimo!!!!!!!!!!

  • mike was and is a asshole, ou can see it and he the least taented one reminds of a short man with napoleon complex. paul was the sound of afos.

  • Mike does have alot of opinions, but he's still the reason AFOS was an early 80's hit. What about frank? Wasnt he the sound of AFOS too? What about Ali, the backbone to their songs, you can't say Paul was the sound of AFOS if there were other members contributing just as hard, if not harder, than Paul. No negativity torwards Paul, but ALOT of his guitar lines were easy as compared to some bass of the basslines or perhaps drum lines.

  • hard work? lol. None of the drums were difficult. plus in the studio the drums were programmed via drum machine/sequncer - he did play live but none was hard. Mike damn sure didnt play Keys AT ALL!!! he hit a key here and there and a stab there and here but never a key player. Paul was the predominant sound of AFOS, period. do this test: pick of any AFOS song.now hum it at loud and guess what? 9 out of 10 you will be humming PAUL'S guitar melodies

    see?

    PAUL was the sound.

  • I still disagree. There are a handful of easy songs on drums, but there are in fact hard songs to play, most of them off of The Story of A Young Heart album. And no I do not always find myself humming pauls melodies, I do find myself humming to Frank's lines too, while clicking my teeth to the drum beats.

  • Opinions? lol its no secret the guy is a asshole to even let shit get between you and your brother is retarded. in a nut shell:

MIke was the least talented of the 4 - cant play keys and cant sing, attempted to play guitar to take away from Pauls shine but for sure not a gutar player.

Mike hated this fact so he attempted to stand out and he did and basically bullied the other 3. but Mike was a jelous dude. Frank and Paul were legit musicians.

  • Is this Paul?

  • no. my uncle roger was friends with them in the 80's. and told me stories.

  • he's got a weird guitar,i want one like that

  • Just saw AFOS in concert at the famous Cape Cod Melody Tent.

They are on the Regeneration Concert Tour along with Naked Eyes, ABC, Belinda Carlisle, and Human League.

You would hardly recognize the lead singer, today! But all groups are still great, after all these years!!

  • this song is not even close to that

  • I'm no expert but this rings to me a little simlar to Electricity by OMD, mmm

  • Are you joking? This sounds NOTHING like Electricty by OMD.

  • Love this song!!

  • i will never forget the first concert they performed in puerto rico, they put a killer perform

  • Yes, I suppose his dancing-style is kind of cat-like.

  • I once won £10 on the National Lottery!! :-)

  • lol, you're funny john

  • UzerAbuzer is a big cocsucker with an absence of personality and nothing better to do than rag on mike.

  • great stuff i love this band!

  • great song

  • AFOS is the best band of the 80's and NOT cause of i ran. this song is ear sex...and thats all i can say

  • every live performance they done was such a masterpiece, from my view they are the best... :D

  • I was always a bit ashamed I bought their first album when it came out (on cassette lol) But their music still sounds shit hot so maybe I was right to buy it

  • I agree, a completely timeless song. How marvelous. I was 13 when this came out - the same time I got my first computer (a Commodore Vic-20). What times!!!!

  • This is a timeless song, really great. I was just a kid in those days but you know there was alot of cool innovative music like this out there. Very technology-oriented! Just like today ;)

  • Audio gold.

  • It's true! New Wave songs were fun to dance to in junior high and high school during the 80s! I wish I had gone to one of their concerts. I feel fortunate to have at least seen New Order and Depeche Mode twenty years ago.

  • omg I loved dancing to this song when I was in high school!!!!!!!!

  • This is absolutely amazing!!! Thank you so much for posting. I was born in 66 and this song was cutting edge. As for any negative comments....all I can say is that you just had to be there. This song back in the day was amazing and made me feel good. It still does. Dont disrespect what you didnt live.

  • bueno, aunque se ve mal el video

  • A great song!!!

  • The woo woo sound is the Synths it is part of the song & is in most all live performances of Telecommunication.

  • This actually sounds pretty damn good.

  • 1983....YESSSSS WAS JUST 13

  • Me too! I remember listening to the FM broadcast of this and taping it. I still have the tape.

  • yo creci con su musica son lo maximo

  • hi john. do you think you could post the rest of this concert that you said u have. i know u said before that they werent "popular tracks" but even still, its a good piece of history for fellow flock fans to see.

  • Hi AndrwJohC7, I don't get so much time to upload videos as I used to. But I may try and upload some more AFOS soon, as I've still got all sorts of old tapes in the attic.

  • do you remember if you have them play never again the dancer?

  • The "Whoop" sound is there on another live performance of this song on Youtube, but not mixed as loud. There is a similar sound on the album version. I think the engineer must have been caught out by it, as it does eventually get mixed down. :)

  • Thanks for the reply, good info. Regards, John_A.

  • its true

  • adoro a mike!!!!!

  • the woohp sound is made by the singer on the keyboard...

  • i'd have to disagree. for one thing i dont know how you could make a sound like that on an analog keyboard. and when the noise is made hes away from the keyboard tinkering with his guitar.

  • yes sorry, the sound is made by the man behind the band. there's a man at the soundboard. in the shado behind you can see it in few seconds.

  • then why are you watching this assfuck

  • its THEY'RE retared

    retard.

  • haha U suck more than anything. respect to a flock of seagulls. and one last thing what else can we expect from an emo guy that listen to anberlin and billy talent shits :P. get over it a flock of seagulls has nothing to do with ur style so fuck u off! read about this band and regret what u just wrote :P (snfsu2005)

  • I really miss the new wave gender-bending look. I'm sick of all this new country shit.

  • they played Electrics here in Brixton as well

  • this isnt brixton

  • Didnt you say theres still othere songs to this concert that arent uploaded

  • Yes there's another four or five, but not particularly popular tracks.

  • hmm this is a jump round in your seat kinda song.

  • at 00:27 doesnt it look like mike is wearing a head set?

  • does it matter? lol

  • yeah, pretty sure.

  • I got most of my friends into this stuff. I wish CFNY still had this on the air.

  • "Tele-K" in live rocks!!!

  • Paul Reynolds was an exciting guitar player in AFOS. Their music really wasn't the same after he left the band.

  • IAM A huge a.f.o.s fan they r amazing only prob is they wernt blessed with singers jus there sounds was amazing im off 2 see OMD live in newcy. soon cant wait brilliant upload !!!!!!

  • what kind of guitar is mike using? that is one strange guitar!!!!!!!

  • a very very very very cool one

  • a Flying V. Not sure what year. Anyone?

  • Ah, the great memories from the 80s; I'm class of 1988.

  • i heard that paul reynolds has a myspace

  • yes he has, look for him on wikipedia, u'll find the link to that at the bottom page

  • Thanks for posting this! A huge Flock of Seagulls fan here:)

  • i think the "woo woo" sounds were intentional because there s a nother video of them playing this live and they did it there to

  • flock of seagulls best band year's 80, i like sigue sigue sputnik,yello,concrete blonde,the jesus and mary chain,bauhaus,devo,hoodoo gurus,spy vs spy,sisters of mercy,the mission , the cult,new model army,frank goes to hollywood,joy division,toy dolls,asia,twisted sister, and much more

    i'm from brazil....

  • I've been looking for this one. Lead singer was a hair dresser and brother was a back hoe operator. Now they are touring again. Amazing what we will pay to relive our youth!

  • ah, this early stuff was so good. very post punk with the fast ramones meets joy division guitar parts. they shouldve explored this sound more instead of going in the direction they did with the later albums. the 1st lp is such a masterpiece.

  • i just realized that nobody in the crowd (except like 2 people) are singing or dancing... ARE THEY STUPID, i would do anything to have gotten to see these guys live together back then

  • they aint STUPID! they r braindead motherf**kers XD

  • haha true true

  • this is awesome!

i've never seen telecommunication live, and that's even more awesome that you're uploading transfer affection next (i love that song

    you are definitely awesome!

  • OK sexgod01. Just for you, I'll make that my next upload! (Probably will be just after christmas). However, after that, I'd like to move away from this gig, 'cos I've got loads of other ancient synthpop to get through yet :-)
