  • A lot of people think that today´s Peppers have a better sound and vocals, deeper message and more emotional attitude, But for me THIS IS AND WILL EVER BE THE REASON why the RHCP kick MAYOR ASS. Flea´s demential bass slaping, Hillel´s insane funky riffs,Jack Iron´s power and of course, Kiedis all around tha place. It´s their raw energy on stage the shit that build the Chili Peppers reputation. If they wanna do pop songs now I´ll respect them, but they won me as a fan on this stage of their career

  • John and Chad included on my comment, but space provided by youtube for opinions is too fuckin´small!

  • I actually don't really like this compared to their stuff a few years after this. Can't even probably understand what Anthony's saying, he sings so fast in this song. Definitely like the songs where it's a little slower and more emotional.

  • i love how, theyre all(especially john) bouncing around the stage. rhcp <3

  • slappin' da bass

  • this is the best thing i have ever seen. ever.

  • john had like 3/4 effect pedals now he has like 99 of them XD

  • @PshicoTiago yeah I wonder why?

  • 1:43 camera guy wtf whit this guys

  • 1:57

    epic XD

  • 1:30 niceeeee puff of pot smoke man

  • Damn its been 21 years scince then

  • what was john freaking out about at the beginning?

  • im curious: can anyone tell me what the hell that thing kiedis is wearing is called?

  • @MLplayer78 "Random thingy"? ;)

  • one word: anthony.

    HAHA, such a cool guy!

  • 1990 is more "mid-chili era" rather than "early."

  • that wasnt hillel?

  • @noonansghost14 Hillel died in 1988. The guitarist in the video is a young John Frusciante.

  • Look at Flea at 0:10 :D hahahah he's legend

  • @iva00xd hahahaha great

  • can anybody tell me if RHCP played this song after 2000 i dont think so...

  • loook thats how a crowd should jump!!

  • Wow, that doesnt even look like john haha this is oolldd

  • @DalianDK your a piece of shit for thinking that. this is incredible! if you actually listen to the song in depth and not just how it comes offf, its beautiful. bands change, yeah. but this is just as good as under the bridge.. this type of stuff was what was big in 85 when they wrote it.

  • @DalianDK What the fuck are you talking about you faggot. you obviously have no idea where the chili peppers came from, this was one of their first songs ever created. you are a mainstream chimp who sings along with all of the other school girls. this is the raw, real chillis that real fans know and love. go listen to justin bieber you cunt

  • @motley1994 lol not one of their first, it was their first

  • @motley1994

I agree. This is the raw, real chillis that real fans know and love :) Nothing better than old school rhcp's :) Yeah!!!

  • We're all a bunch of brothers living in a cool way

With six million others in a place called LA!

  • Oh awh wow so is this what some members in korn or anybody says. Bout their early shit. Sounds great actually

  • anthony was so powerful

  • Hillel Slovak is God for creating this funky riff. John is Jesus for playing it so great.

  • i really really like their old stuff but i dont think its better than their new stuff

  • o there heriorn days

  • @ChicagoEnoughSaid anthony was clean heeeere

  • WHY WAS I BORN FOUR YEARS AFTER THIS.

  • @FemaleFrusciante ._. i was born SEVEN years after this.

  • @floralsky o-o I feel your pain. o-o

  • @FemaleFrusciante lol this is the year that i was born, id totally would have been cool with my dad taking me in my carriage.. if i would've survived lol

  • @FemaleFrusciante I was born SEVEN FUCKING years after!!!!!!!!!!!

  • LOOK AT THE MOSH PIT FROM 0.56 TO 1.01!!!!!!

  • Yes i know. But i wanted to say that red hots would have been nothing without hillel...Even if john is to my mind one of the best guitarist in the world. So don't speak to me like that. Red hots are my life, i know stories.

  • ROCK OUT!

  • @TheDarknes963 oh yes sorry, hillel died in '88. But he had composed it x)

  • 0:55 the crowd looks like one big wave

  • @MsWillLone in 1990 hillel had already died

  • @MsWillLone honey, it's John

  • i love how in the beginning, anthony just starts jumping simultaneously, waing for the music to start. lmao

  • @apententakel I do. The kind that you wear...

  • The crowd is fucking amazing !

  • the dude a 1:45 is just like : what the hell are they ?

  • Fop? What is a fucking fop?

  • @mikolene97 fop is a song from the ohio players

  • the 1985 version in germany is WAYYYY better

  • woow men , that incredible!! XD

  • The pure energy of four great people who want to rock the world!

  • hey askedenseje! not to sure if you where around in those days (Hillel!!!) listen to those first three albums.. Mothers Milk was f'in' great! I love John! But this band used to be our little secret back in the late '80s big hair metal days. they got the success they deserved but it changed EVERYTHING! Your opinion is appreciated. They are a fantastic band of brothers and always will be. Those early days where so special that it's hard to even remark on if you weren't there.

  • @jantinucci Yeah, youre right lets compromise ;)

  • I dont like the description, this is kickass - but you cant say this beat any of the new stuff - its peoples own opinion + their new stuff IMO has alot more feel and soul into it.

  • He is THE motherFUNKer!

  • chad and john are good too(better)?

  • It sounds better with Hillel and Jack Irons or Cliff Martinez. I think..

  • this was when john frusciante was the coolest motherfucker on the planet.

  • he IS the coolest motherfucker in the world :)

  • whats he now then?

  • He IS the coolest motherfucker on the planet!

  • could anybody give me lyrics for this version???

  • wish they would still play that live these days

  • @telegram4mongo It was, like, their first song, i don't think AK remembers the lyrics. BTW, it would be great to hear it live !

  • @telegram4mongo Wish they would still play LIKE THIS live these days, most of the time Anthony doesn't even know what to do, back then he had total command over the stage.

  • @telegram4mongo they played all theyre old songs not many years ago, look up sex rap live. I went to the concert it was really great!

  • @telegram4mongo most bands dont play their first songs in concert.

  • smoking a joint

  • no but , its like that hes complaining , or something like that

  • what is John doing at 0:37 ?

  • @carliarce He's Smoking...

  • isauhsaiuhiusahiusaihsua

    funny guys

  • I want Hillel alive! DAMN IT! Funky Hillel..

  • these guys were fucking good and spastic as well

  • oh alright, can't see the pink highlight though

  • isn't that slovak

  • nope. i thought the same thing.

  • nope it's john but when he was young we looked just like hillel

  • Hillel died in '88...Jack Irons (former RHCP drummer and first Pearl Jam drummer) left the band soon after. Fruciante joined when he was like 19...similar style as Hillel, very Hendrix influenced, yet Fruciante was more of a child prodigy. Joining the band at the same time as Fruciante was Chad Smith..a very hard hitting drummer, much more than Jack Irons...If you squnit your eyes Hillel and John might look alike in that they are 2 skinny guys playing Fenders, but Hillel was like a foot taller

  • nope

  • Tru Funk

  • Born in '91 T_T

  • why was i born in 1993

    FUCK

  • i feel your pain! 1992 over here ;)

  • @gitarist666 same here, damn it ;p

  • I know the old stuff was fucking amazing, but you gotta respect the new stuff too. While it may not be as strong, better them keeping it going than some of these other no-talent morons today.

  • right.

  • My sarcasm detector's on red alert there, my man.

  • You know the good thing is about this I was born in 1990.

  • when their next CD will come out, I want to buy it the same day, listen it the same day, buy the tour ticket and wait....

I start listening to they when I was 10, in 2006... I know ever part of their discography... I want a new CD... and see Flea live..

  • i started listening the chili peppers when i was 4 years old, in 1999, when my cousin bought californication and i was so happy that day 'cause that day the chilean tv programmed a special to the chili peppers, and i saw it live on tv...

3 year later I went to a concert and was one of the best concerts played ever in chile.

  • John has a better power stance then any metal guitarist.

  • emmm... in august, chad said that his new work (2010) will be a new blood sugar sex magik, mixing his old stuff to make a little funky record. anyways, as his californication tour, they played out in l.a, yertle the turtle or sex rap, even sex rap in his arcadium tour. i feel if the record is funky, the tour WILL and MUST BE funky.

  • are you completely sure???

I think they're gonna do commercial things again no matter what

  • what do you mean commercial, something coincidentally sounding commercial doesn't mean anything, the intention of selling out is not what the chilis had, they just create music these days thats more radio friendly

  • lol i love anthony's little hero pose at 2:40-2:41 =P

  • This song defines everything pre bssm , many catogories as there early years

  • Love this

  • I love the Red Hot Chili Peppers albums unconditionally but I do miss the old funktastic punk-y sound they had.

Maybe when this hiatus ends they'll return to it.

  • hey ! stop reading my mind lol

  • their hiatus just ended, so let's hope for the best! :D

  • ya, i agree with all about missing there old stuff. like, on the radio the only stuff they play is like Higher Ground to there new stuff. they never play any of there stuff with Hillel or Jack. thats the stuff i miss. but, then again, they're going to be writing a whole bunch more stuff and we'll eventually be saying that we miss there more modern stuff now. RHCP= Life

    R.I.P Hillel :(

  • this was there very 1st song ,

  • 0:36 johns like 'turn this mother fucker up!'

  • i aggree....early peppers owns...i wish i was alive to see hillel pllay...(im 14 btw)

  • I miss the 80s rhcp,, this is my fav band,, that was pure funk,, their new stuff, although more evolved, can't beat the 80s and early 90s tracks,,,....

  • yeah i miss this too but they re still good

    ?good?

they re great they just change style and they still got funky songs in all their albums its just pity cause they dont perform old songs like higher ground out in la and suck my kiss wtf theyy perform give it away(my favourite) always but not suck my kiss and Funky Monks Naked in the Rain

John could and flea could such great improvisation on Funky Monks cause its that kind of song

  • My usual reaction to Old chili peppers: What the fuck is Anthony wearing & why don't they still play this live?

  • chad does sucha great job

  • with his beart he looks like he was their father haha

  • hey guys John is the soul of the band who gives emotion with his guitar. you can listen the difference in the albums without him...John is the man!

  • ah ya, hillel is fucking awesome too and very talented. have you listened to the albums with him they're fucking great. but one hot minute forget guitarist's name but sucks

  • Dave Navarro,, that was a weird time,, Dave is good, but not as good as John or Hilel...

  • Meh. He's probably just as good, just didn't fit the band as well.

  • john frusciante is the soul of this band

  • so not true

the band was awsome mayby better when hillel was in it.

  • they all bring something different to the band that comes together in a beautiful musical way

  • i think By The Way and Stadium Arcadium are my fav RHCP albums,i only listen to RHCP just to hear John play

  • Poor you, Hillel is great

  • Yes sophie you're right

    Rip

  • Hillel is awesome! BUT John is also very awesome ;D

  • then you should really listen to blood sugar sex magik cause mr. frusciante did a motherfuckin' great job on the guitar!

  • john sure didnt look happy at 0:37

  • If this really was in 1990, then this was the period when John was depressed about the band doing so well.

  • it was 1990 byt he lookks of things, i thought it was only after bssm he was depressed

  • Yeah. He had problems with the band and left in 1992.

  • na he unhappy in 91-92

  • Lol what a fool to leave when the band is doing well...haha. Isn't that the purpose? To sell? Geez.

  • not to him he just enjoyed playing./. but dont yall go judging people who want to sell. who play to sell, who knows? whos beter if people who onlly play for fun ,think there better than those who sellout, keep it to yourself

  • this is like their best song and it was the first song they ever wrote

  • They have always been amazing. 1983- Present Day. BEST BAND ever

  • Lame crowd, awesome band.

  • Flea, , Hillel, Anthony and Jack, perfect! I don't know what is better, now or then????

  • then then then then then then then then then then then

  • i think chad is probably a better drummer then jack and then hillel and john frusciante are even in my opinion

  • As amazing as they were, I think they're better now.

  • Its Flea John Anthony and Chad then actually

  • yea thats john for sure

considering hillel died in 89....this is 1990...

  • he died in 88

  • ITS def JOHN

  • no shit sherlock

  • fuckin awesome

  • very good *_*

  • ahh they're fucking AMAZING!!! <333 I need to buy this album. They're so unique and breathtaking to watch. I wish I had Anthony's energy haha

  • how can you mistake john for hillel?

  • i agree with the guy who posted this on. hint in the description box

  • these guys are awesome so full of energy i understand though if i wrote music that good i would be losing my shit everytime i played it too

  • stupid suckers, every rhcp fan knows that this is john, watch john's body language it's awesome!!:D

Hillel is a Jew with a stone cold bush of hair you know,

  • Comment removed

  • haha yeah its johnny boy but i don't think hillel always had the same hairdo

  • not duran duran

  • it's john...hillel died in 1988

  • Ya dude its John. He made Mothers Milk with them in 89 a year after Hillel died.

  • its john...hillel died before this...

  • hillel died in '88

  • Well if that is john he sure is young!!

    (and pretty cute (:

  • John was 18 when he joined the peppers...
