A lot of people think that today´s Peppers have a better sound and vocals, deeper message and more emotional attitude, But for me THIS IS AND WILL EVER BE THE REASON why the RHCP kick MAYOR ASS. Flea´s demential bass slaping, Hillel´s insane funky riffs,Jack Iron´s power and of course, Kiedis all around tha place. It´s their raw energy on stage the shit that build the Chili Peppers reputation. If they wanna do pop songs now I´ll respect them, but they won me as a fan on this stage of their career
I actually don't really like this compared to their stuff a few years after this. Can't even probably understand what Anthony's saying, he sings so fast in this song. Definitely like the songs where it's a little slower and more emotional.

Lol. This is such a bunch of shit compared to what they are creating now. Amazing that this band ended up writing songs such as otherside, under the bridge and many others that will never be forgotten
@DalianDK your a piece of shit for thinking that. this is incredible! if you actually listen to the song in depth and not just how it comes offf, its beautiful. bands change, yeah. but this is just as good as under the bridge.. this type of stuff was what was big in 85 when they wrote it.
@DalianDK What the fuck are you talking about you faggot. you obviously have no idea where the chili peppers came from, this was one of their first songs ever created. you are a mainstream chimp who sings along with all of the other school girls. this is the raw, real chillis that real fans know and love. go listen to justin bieber you cunt
@FemaleFrusciante lol this is the year that i was born, id totally would have been cool with my dad taking me in my carriage.. if i would've survived lol
Yes i know. But i wanted to say that red hots would have been nothing without hillel...Even if john is to my mind one of the best guitarist in the world. So don't speak to me like that. Red hots are my life, i know stories.
hey askedenseje! not to sure if you where around in those days (Hillel!!!) listen to those first three albums.. Mothers Milk was f'in' great! I love John! But this band used to be our little secret back in the late '80s big hair metal days. they got the success they deserved but it changed EVERYTHING! Your opinion is appreciated. They are a fantastic band of brothers and always will be. Those early days where so special that it's hard to even remark on if you weren't there.
I dont like the description, this is kickass - but you cant say this beat any of the new stuff - its peoples own opinion + their new stuff IMO has alot more feel and soul into it.
@telegram4mongo Wish they would still play LIKE THIS live these days, most of the time Anthony doesn't even know what to do, back then he had total command over the stage.
Hillel died in '88...Jack Irons (former RHCP drummer and first Pearl Jam drummer) left the band soon after. Fruciante joined when he was like 19...similar style as Hillel, very Hendrix influenced, yet Fruciante was more of a child prodigy. Joining the band at the same time as Fruciante was Chad Smith..a very hard hitting drummer, much more than Jack Irons...If you squnit your eyes Hillel and John might look alike in that they are 2 skinny guys playing Fenders, but Hillel was like a foot taller
I know the old stuff was fucking amazing, but you gotta respect the new stuff too. While it may not be as strong, better them keeping it going than some of these other no-talent morons today.
i started listening the chili peppers when i was 4 years old, in 1999, when my cousin bought californication and i was so happy that day 'cause that day the chilean tv programmed a special to the chili peppers, and i saw it live on tv...
3 year later I went to a concert and was one of the best concerts played ever in chile.
emmm... in august, chad said that his new work (2010) will be a new blood sugar sex magik, mixing his old stuff to make a little funky record. anyways, as his californication tour, they played out in l.a, yertle the turtle or sex rap, even sex rap in his arcadium tour. i feel if the record is funky, the tour WILL and MUST BE funky.
what do you mean commercial, something coincidentally sounding commercial doesn't mean anything, the intention of selling out is not what the chilis had, they just create music these days thats more radio friendly
ya, i agree with all about missing there old stuff. like, on the radio the only stuff they play is like Higher Ground to there new stuff. they never play any of there stuff with Hillel or Jack. thats the stuff i miss. but, then again, they're going to be writing a whole bunch more stuff and we'll eventually be saying that we miss there more modern stuff now.
