so when their is no democratic government to regulate big business and industrial firms, what is stopping them from monopolizing the whole world and turning it into a giant k-mart that we all will be forced to work at for 2 dollars an hour to survive. pure capitalism creates fascism. do you enjoy your guaranteed minimum wage and workers rights? then thank a socialist.
Well, you mention the world being "a giant k-mart." This would only happen in a socialist style state where competition and incentives to innovate have been eliminated by law. In case you have not noticed it has been a long time since K-Mart was the worlds larget retailer. The company stopped statifying the consumer and they moved on to retial outlets that better provided for their needs.
Be careful what you wish for and please pick up any book titled "basic economics"
This idea that capitalism creates fascism is perhaps one of the most dangerous spreading in our day. The marriage of business and government is most certainly not part of capitalism. You can see it is the seeds of socialism planted in governments that sprout into fascism/corporatism. Where does the power the governmet has to regulate come from? It comes from the socialists who give it to them! Businesses then have to play the game of politics to compete. It is socialism that plants fascist seeds
look at history you moron. the government is controlled by big businesses. that is where the fascism comes from. during the red scare if you tried to join a union they would call you a commie and have you deported. that sounds like fascism to me.
"Businesses then have to play the game of politics to compete"
where do you get this shit from? its businesses that got involved in politics in the first place to destroy there competition so they could monopolize. thats what fascism is numbnuts.
I believe you just proved my point. Capitalism does not lead to fascism.
"its businesses that got involved in politics in the first place to destroy there competition so they could monopolize. thats what fascism is"
The question remains...where did government get the power that 'big business' wants to use to monopolize and enslave us all in $2 per hour jobs at K-Mart? There is where we will find the root of fascism. Your defintion above shows free market capitalism is not the cause.
@BrettDunbar ur one of those word association gov = opression private power = freedom retards huh. its the big corrupt private interests that bend govt to their will that need to be kept in check genius. go back to the 1700s when only land owners could vote and slavery was legal? what do you think the driving force in govt corruption is, socialist public interest?
This video is great, you broadcast a refreshingly logical and undeniably American view of the way things are and should be. You may have done so already, but you'd probably like some of the books or articles of Ludwig Von Mises who delves deeply into topics like this. Keep up the good videos man!
This is an interesting proposition. It would simplify a lot of things. Although, by doing so the State runs out of money and the whole system collapses. Besides, if you would like to stop coercion, there should be no more police or even school. Such situations lead to anarchy.
1 worker pumps out 200 lumps of shit a day and will not buy 10 of those lumps.
You know what i will do tomorrow at work? Probably seperate paper clips. Call and email my friends and chat about bullshit like this. Jack off for 2 hours in the bathroom.
We are in a surplus/budget cut phase at my company. I'm not worried about my job because i know the poor saps in the mail room will be the ones to get the ax.
At least you don't come off as the traditional asshole suburban kid. You're alright.
And boredcapitalist, I only hope that those poor saps in the mailroom don't bypass your sorry ass on the street when your company sends your job overseas in pursuit of thier capitalist needs... Enjoy that foot when your cushy job doesn't pay for food... Who the hell gives you people a chance?!
Do you think Einstein was looking for a big check? Was Jonas Salk looking for a big pay off? Your incentive is Greed, for other, many outside the US it is the advancement of humankind. Socialism is not stagnant.
Give me a break DavidThePatriot... One doesn't need capitalism to create incentive. Living is incentive enough, seeing a problem and wanting or needing a solution to it is incentive. How do so many countries, past and present, continue thriving without capitalist ideals? Because the suffering of fellow man is enough incentive. Capitalism is built on greed and a need to call something yours. That's not incentive, it's freaking insane...
Name me one country besides Venuzuela that is successful without Capitalism? You can't. China is basically capitalist, and they are only successful because their citizens have very few rights and can be forced to work cheaply. Venuzuela doesn't count because they are only semi successful due to extensive oil reserves. You won't bother to address liberty, which is what I'm actually defending more than Capitalism.
Your hiding behind the word liberty as a way to justify the fact that you don't want to assist your fellow man... You want to talk about civil liberties, talk about the patriot act, talk about homeland security. Your republicans, your bush made that possible. The FBI is tapping cell phones on the basis of terrorism. I agree with you that the dems are not the answer, hell I want all political parties abolished, but at least they are not trying to rule through fear...
Further more, why does money HAVE to be the incentive... My ancestors were chained and brought here and I still LOVE this country because I was born here and the past is the past and you can't change what has happened, but that doesn't excuse the fact that it has been ruined by this idea of money rules everything. It used to be what you put in, you get out. Now hard work gets a pink slip. If you only knew what this society has done to it's hardest workers...
Liberty isn't just a word. It's a philosophy. Self determination is key. The more we succumb to the nanny state thew more we become dependant on it.
There basically is no money in the US. It's worthless paper backed by nothing. And FALLING! Keep on spending that big government money, taxing the crap out of EVERYBODY, not just the rich, and see how many people wind up hurting... The economy is collapsing.
The economy is collapsing because the credit card companies (created and allowed by this government) want people to be in debt because that's how they make money, it's because instead of putting certain money back into circulation they decide to burn it, it's because we spend more on war and protecting the interests of the haves instead of investing in people who can build us back. You say your apart of the have nots, try being apart of the have nothings... There's a big difference babe...
Oh and thanks for bouncing all over the actual topic, proving that republicans can't face the facts. And liberty is a philosphy, one that I strongly believe in, but it doesn't work if some people are allowed them and some aren't. You would know that liberty is not a philosphy America lives by, now or ever, if you were a minority. Your quick to defend the liberties of the rich, try defending the poor, disadvantaged, and forgotten...
People are the masters of their own destiny. People rely on God and Government far too much. I came from nothing, in fact, less than nothing. My single mother worked 2 jobs to send me to private school, with no government assistance. I went from practically living on the streets to owning 13 rental properties in less than a year. I never took gov assistance. Start a charity, and I'll donate, but using the law to forcibly take wealth and redistribute it is theft, plain and simple...
There may have been two jobs for your mother, but some communities have no jobs opportunities... I know for a fact there is barely enough in Harlem to support the constant growing population... The more condos being built, the more my people are bieng forced back into the projects which is essentially a barrel of crabs... Someone is constantly trying to keep you down...
You make a great point about States and Local Governments with socialism. Iceland has the most efficient generous welfare system in the world because everybody knows each other and no one wants a rep for being on the dole. If the IRS were abolished, State governments could pick up the slack (albeit through state taxes) and tailor social services to the local situation.
It's a mutual agreement between you an Wal-Mart. If Wal-Mart states that you can purchase a Widgit from them for $1.99 and you agree, then you do the trade. If you don't agree, simply go somewhere else or make your own. Nobody is holding a gun to your head forcing you to buy something from their store. (however, the government will hold a gun to your head for not paying your Income Tax or filing every year... even though it is unConstitutional).
When you lose economic freedom, personal liberty will soon follow. And when government can take as much as they want, there is little incentive to give you quality services. Good video.
I recommend Aaron Russo's film "America: Freedom to Fascism" which can be viewed for free on Google video. Very thought-provoking.
Also, "Ron Paul girl Liv takes off some clothes," then go to her blog and read her experiences with welfare. Quite insightful.
i can't take anyone who extols "pure" capitalism seriously. socialism (as an ideology, not how it is practiced) is a kind of idealistic utopia, but so is laissez-faire capitalism. rather, our economy is almost a blend. the only relevant debate is fine tuning this mixed system, not over whether we should have it or not. stop dreaming.
Dave you're going to be mighty disappointed if (and it won't) your movement ever succeeds and you as a middle class worker are pushed into poverty by corporate gouging.
Oh, now Koran Paul's colors show... You're a liberal trying to play on the fears of Sean Hannity conservatives by linking Ron Paul to Islam... Almost as creative as my effort to infiltrate the Republican party and take it back from the neocons....
There would BE NO middle class without socialism. Look at any pure capitalist society like 19th century Britain and show me where your middle class is.
If the state owns you then you have no right to the fruits of your labor, and for that matter to your own life and liberty. The income tax has it's roots in the pernicious concept that a king or government is sovereign. The in America there once was a form of government in which the individual is the sovereign. That is the greatness of this nation that Ron Paul hopes to revive. This is your last chance, America.
while i do agree with most of what you are saying, i feel that the problem with capitalism lies in our necessities, things that all people need to survive in the world today. Energy, health care, banking, and infrastructure. I believe in industries like these we should take a socialized approach to because no matter what we will get raped for it from private industry.
While you bash the dems(im for dr paul btw) for social welfare, you also need to bash the gop for corporate welfare.
Well balo, the problem is when govt takes your money it will happily waste it.
In the UK the govt has spent a fortune on windfarms, we all know how pathetic these are in terms of cost-benefit, private people wouldnt never investing in them BUT our govt does. Alarm bells should ring when only govt invests in projects.
Govt will create its own monopoly of public services and never have to compete or raise standards. So year after year things tend to get worse despite the cost of technology and capital goods consistantly decreasing, with competition.
Do you have any evidence for this asserted decrease of standards? The best cost-benefit rates come from Chinese products nowadays, and they are not famous for their high quality. And please don't talk about Neocon front-runner UK, when the topic is socialism. Talk about high-tax countries like Sweden or Finland.
