Okay i am having problems, my dell m1330 xps same model boots up on empire and has mac osx 10.6.....everytime i update it freezes when it boots back up...any ideas what i can do or how to fix this?
Hi There, do you have the broadcom or intel wireless adaptor in your Dell XPS m1330? I've managed to get everything working how you have except for the wireless adaptor. I might have had the wifi switch set to OFF but I'm not sure. Do you think this could have skipped installing the wireless card ?
@AeroplaneDope I have broadcom. I hear there are problems getting the intel wireless to work. Those are easily interchangeable but you have to find a compatible one. If my switch gets set to off when im in osx the wireless fails and i have to reboot. wifi worked out of the box for me so i cant really help ya there. Just make sure that you have a good distro unless your patching the disc yourself. IATKOS is always a good one to use.
ok imma get a dell xps 17 cuz its faster and 700 dollars less than the mac book pro i was gonna get. it has a gt 445 grahpics card, is there a problem with dual boot and the gpu for OSX?? cuz i want the graphics to work, its way better than the macs 330m. I need to use the osx side to do multimedia school stuff and i want windows to do my everyday things, just askin. will a program like final cut run or will there be video and audio driver issues?
Ok... I installed Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.3 on this one Dell XPS M1330 and out of the box, the Webcam, Wireless card, graphic's worked, installed the right Ethernet kext, VoodooHDA with SigmaTel dump kext, Apple's keyboard & mousepad kexts and all worked fine! Yes you can substitude this one from a real Macbook pro, its stable especially when you install retail Snow Leopard disc!
Seriously people help me I see you could do it, I dont have a clue whats wrong with my system. Could that be win7 presently running on the machine? I have a well-working bootloader so that shouldnt be a problem. What shall I do?
@polcrendszer just because its a dell xps m1330 doesnt mean its compatible for osx86. You have to visit the site i mentioned at the top of the comments that should provide you with more input as to whether your laptop will support it or not.
I own an xps m1330( 2.2 ghz c2d; intel wifi; 3g ram; 250gb hdd) and want a dual boot with win7. I tried iAtkos v7; iAtkos 5i; iPC 10.5.6, Deneb . Non of them worked. Some of them wont run through the installation, or manages to finish it but freezes during the first boot. It never got to the OSX welcome page. I tried to turn AHCI to SATA mode, tried all the kernels(vanilla too).
@danmonkeymurphy Umm, Was a little difficult to find at first. I happen to have the STAC Sigmatel 9228 Sound card in my laptop. Basically i searched on the net for Voodoo HDA + Pref Pane. You have to get Voodoo HDA with the appropriate dump for your particular sound card. I was also told that the VoodooHDA conflicts with exisiting applehda kexts so i removed mine. Might be worth a try if the voodoo hda doesn't work for you.
I have been trying to do this but to no success. Any possibility that you point me in the right direction of how to achieve what you have? I have the same Dell M1330 as you.
@TechGopher hi, you could help me too :) My m1330 is a Merom 2.2 c2d, nvidia gpu, 3G ram. I tried iPC, Kalyway, Aitkos v5 and v7 with multicore and speedstep on and off, -v -s,-v -f, -x, cpus=1 -v, none of them worked...with -x I succeed to get an Apple screen with a loading logo but it kept on forever. Aitkos v5 actually got into the installer even with speedstep and multicore on but it doesnt install the osx...
@heeroyui1777 Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card Wireless Network Adapter is mine. seemed to work out of the box. No modifications needed.
@wangzheyou Agreed. I do not what so ever think that this is a viable replacement option for a mac. In my later build i optimised boot up time so its not near as slow as it is in this video. I guess i'll redo the video when i get time.
i took the booting kernal from the cd and installed it on the laptop itself and now it boots fine

Used iatkos s3 for my next install which seemed to work better.
TechGopher 5 months ago
what kind of booting are you running.....through a cd or installed?
Cwatts2644 6 months ago
@Cwatts2644 Well, in the video showed a patched CD. I now run iATKOS.

How to you make max Displey ? on Hackintosh? i have 1024x726 :(
And how to i get INTERNET WORK!!??!?!??!?! :(
WiZmEn1998 1 year ago
@WiZmEn1998
With that English you're going nowhere.
First of all, you had to install Mac OS X on a pc ONLY if you knew what you were doing.
To get the right resolution you need to edit a file which passes the parameter to the kernel at boot time.
For that you could get OSX86Tools which makes it easier to do it than directly editing the file.
To get internet to work you need to get the right kext (driver) for the Ethernet/Wireless adaptor that you're using.
Good luck.

Cool that you got your audio working. Does this mean your speakers as well? If so, can you point me towards the fix? I can't find a fix anywhere..
