i think the bigger the foo's got the less and less i have started to like them.......there older stuff is streets ahead and my poor brain is one of my fav's off this album....i fucking miss this period of music ....old foos with goldsmith are my favourite era of the foos

@lonewolf2379 I completely disagree. I think Dave's song writing has improved more and more with each album. I feel as if his older stuff he tried too hard and expected to much from himself. Now I think he has more confidence in himself and is letting his true talent shine through. Obviously all just my opinion though.

i think that the foo's were making superb music back in the ninties because the pressure wasnt on..they werent as huge as they are now and werent to playing to stadium rock venues.ive been a loyal fan from day one..(even had some of their first shows on tape back in 95 and i can honestly say my interest has cooled since espg.......

@lonewolf2379 I think Dave put a lot of un-needed pressure on himself in the early days because he knew many many people would be comparing him to Kurt. Now that the Foo have their own identity I think Dave is much more comfortable in making his music. Pat Smear recently said he see's Dave "getting more comfortable as a lyricist"

@lonewolf2379 i get what you're saying but i think the band has simply evolved its sound. ESPG had more mainstream appeal because there were so many "anthem rock" songs on the album. I think Wasting Light has brought the band much closer to where they were during The Colour and the Shape. You can't blame a band for becoming popular. Their music has just become universally appreciated.

@patsfan41191 I totally agree, White Limo is probably the most nuts song Dave's written yet, not to mention the homemade-style music video which recalls all the old video's they've done which were always kinda silly. Even with Echoes, I think those "anthem" songs weren't far off from what they were originally doing. Remotely similar at the very worst, they still kinda have the let-loose feel that they've always seem to have had.

i agree with the older post that this stuff is way better than the newer stuff, but new Foo kicks tons of ass. they altered their sound a lot when you look from songs like My Poor Brain and Weenie Beenie, and then compare them to songs like Wheels and Word Forward. The Foo changed over the years, but they still somehow managed to maintain the same feel they had back in '95. they're still an amazing band.

This song has the greatest transition ever. You really need the noise at the beginning in order to appreciate the shift. I think that's what Grohl was trying to prove with the composition.

I think this one along with the very first were the better Foo albums. They had that grunge feel and were a lil post Nirvana sounding. Also Dave recorded the albums himself which made them even more awesome sounding too. After a while they sorta went soft and folky sounding. They were better from the start and I think Grohl had a way better band back then. Dave, Pat, Will, and Nate were more harder and edgier sounding than todays band. i miss that and i'm sure alot ya'll do.
