i think thoroughbreds are very smart... i just got one, and i am impressed with his intelligence and he also ran on track for 3 yrs... i also put a hack on right away and he was easy to ride, never once ran off with me... i think with a snaffle he would hve, but i figured if he can changes states he can change bits to hack... i have also used a combination and works nicely... i hve learned they eat alot more, so it is taking a bit to put on weight for him
THe horse is beautiful!!!!! Love to see this :) My OTTB was the same, got him 4 days after his last race rode him 2 days later, absolute dream But did not CAnter I must say, canter two rides after that, but now we have slowed down and gave him a long break and now working soley on trotting and started cantering again :)
@HorsesForeva95 he's a great horse! he has now competed at 105 cms and mostly clear rounds, hes a champ... and as an apprentice jockey i can appreciate how good of a horse he was!
haha i agree with that, i was just lucky that charlie is so quiet :D but i have gotten on some horses and they've been crazy, so i guess it depends on the horse as well as the rider :)

Great horse!
Of course, he was lovely - because he had an excellent rider like you, Effie!
Someone like you may just jump on the back of a race-horse, not ridden for some time - and make him be a good boy immediately.
That is great riding which you show.
I agree: ex-race-horses are the best under very sensitive riders.
But don´t forget - thoroughbreds can be crazy if some girl rides him who does not really know how to ride a thoroughbred!
Do you agree?
