  • Damn, play me off Johnny!

  • I performed this song in a junior-high-school play! My costume was a caveman animal cloth and a big plastic caveman club.

  • great stuff Tom..I really enjot you tunes so much!

  • Thanks. You have some great music videos.

  • Super très jolie

    BRAVO à vous CONGRATULATION

  • Thanks very much.

  • Although you may be the oldest person I've seen on youtube, your videos are quite refreshing. I've used a few public domain songs in videos myself.

  • There are a lot of great old songs to have fun with. Thanks.

  • I just found an Al Jolson version of this. It is a pretty fun song. Although it doesn't promote abstinence as much as I hoped it would. You really didn't change the lyrics all that much.

  • Al Jolson did many great songs. Some are in public domain. I am trying to figure out some more of his songs to do again. I just took out the hare and chicken references and added the civilization and oasis verses. It was also a big hit for Ian Whitcomb. Many of the old songs still sound fresh. Thanks.

  • The sound and quality are very crisp. Great performance, Tom.

  • Thanks. It was fun to do it.

  • Another great song and another great video. Keep em goin Mr. Willett

  • Thank you so much. I shall do more.

  • great song, you need to start selling CD's!

  • Thanks. I think there is one at CDBaby but I have not checked it in awhile. Mainly things I recorded many years ago.

  • Island life would be great if I could get the internet there. I'd have to build a coconut computer.

  • Gilligan and the Professor would figure out how to make a coconut computer. Gilligan would break it though. Thanks.

  • Great song, Tom! Catchy idea.

  • Thanks, Andy.

  • Awesome one,Tom.

    Great performance and quality.

    Alex.

  • Thanks, Alex.

  • Awesome, Uncle Tom! It souds very good.

  • Thanks so much. Louie's mom, Babe, had a piano where I first started trying to play.

  • Tom, excellent job

  • Thank you.

  • Hey Tom!! Great job as always!! :)

I also liked the video edition with the different camera angles! Very nice!

    Hugs

  • Thanks, Raffa. I had two cameras going and I synched the videos up when I edited it. I wil try doing more of that.

  • loved it, absolutely excellent. how do you find all these old gems? there really enjoyable

  • Thanks. This is one I remember from the 1960s when it was brought back by Ian Whitcomb. It also was an Al Jolson song before that. Jolson had a big rebound in the 1940s and many of his songs were popular then. He had some great songs which could easily be brought back again. There is a site with a list of Public Domain songs where I do some research also. Thanks again.

  • excellent, thank you featureman.

  • A rule of thumb for me is--if it's old, it deserves more than a glance, or even a scant original look/listen. This one is a treasure. Thanks. And thanks to Max, for sharing.

  • Thanks very much. I agree there is a lot of gold in them thar hills of Public Domain.

  • that was amazing! What a shame that music like this isnt still written today, I am sure that music like this would cultivate people. There is a focus of a story in there and its entertaining too. Thank you ....more please!!

  • Thanks. I am looking at a few more old Public Domain songs now which once were big hits but which are now unknown.

  • Now here's a song you don't hear everyday. Thanks for this great old classic. 5* for your piano playing skills.

  • Thank you so much. It is fun to play the real piano once in awhile even though the keys tend to stick.

  • Bravo! Wow!

  • Thanks.

  • Love it!! Great arrangement! So lively :D

  • Thanks. I enjoyed your video of Oh Holy Night. I recommend it to the viewers.

  • As a Musicologist,it tickles me to discover here within the You Tubing community a treasure trove of talented musicians who fully appreciate and rescue these beloved vintage public domain chestnuts from relative obscurity. I would like to personally give you a tip of the derby for dusting off this golden nugget and presenting it here in this magical musical floorshow extravaganza extraordinaire. It is for this very reason that I keep returning to You Tube in search of these precious gems.

    Max

  • Thank you so much. I love many of the old public domain songs. There are a few more I am pondering. I agree that YouTube is filled with gems of videos and memories.

  • Cool!

  • Thanks.

  • Awesome keep up the work =)

  • Thanks very much.
