  • i want a coat like noddys

  • A truelly gifted musician Jimmy Lea..gret bass player and keyboard player..Slade were lucky to have him..If you listen to bass lines they are so beautifully constructed to compliment the rest of the band..It was a gift to Holder Lea was classically trained for sure..Lea's bass playing owes so much to his classical violin playing..He added so much..very underrated. Always the very serious musician in the band...Thanks for posting..a real treat!

  • Awesome. Brings them back. The memories. :-)

  • Jim Lea looks like a dude from "A clockwork Orange",great bass player and multi instrumentalist. One of my favourite Slade songs.Great!

  • Saw SLADE first on maybe Don Kirtchners Rock Concert shows, Maybe 73, or 74 and said holy crap, who the f*ck are these guys. Then got to see them at Winter Land in SF soon after. Noddy's cover of Janis Joplin's Move Over was really something. Anybody got a vid of that tune? What a great band.

  • @scubarojo There's a Slade show at Winterland in '75 on Wolfgang's Vault where they play this song and a bunch of others.

  • Superb record.

  • Better late than never.

  • Damn, that;s just great!

Been Slade fan for thirty-eight years!

  • Are you sure this was on UK TV? I don't recognise the programme. (unless of course it was on a regional ITV channel)

  • The best rock and roll bands of all-time will always be debatable, but Slade is definitely one of 'em!!!

  • One of my faves, heard this one when i was a kid on Wls in chicago,People give me crap for diiigin the lads, but so did KISS!

  • Hey Teddingtonidiot - he's playing the bass AND the keyboard at the same time. This is a live performance you stupid wanker! Anyone can hear the difference in the live vocal and the studio release. Idiot. You don't like Slade? Then don't listen - and Piss off and go somewhere else. We all LOVE Slade.

  • can some one please post, stomp your hands and clap your feet by Slade! Please! Please! Please!

  • @Bittersweet2handgo

"stomp your hands and clap your feet" was the american title of the "old, new, borrowed & blue" album in 1974. there was never a song by that title. sorry. christian

  • @Bittersweet2handgo your probably thinking f Get down and get with it which you will fid on here

  • SLADE ROCK FOR EVER.......Lets see if how many if any of todays bands could the same sound live on tv that they got on the recording?

  • Beautiful!!!

    Thanks for the Memories!!!!

THX for this Quality-thank you Man.Perfect.

  • A great showpiece for Jimmy Lea's talents-throw in Holder's great vocals and

how incredibly tight this band is and you have one of the most overlooked gems in rock history. Eat an apple everyday-nah- get slayed!

  • @orange8129 Slade are the most underrated band of all time.

  • love this song in fact love every song they ever played slade forever come on lads one last gig on tv for charity

  • The Rollers had taken away Slade's title as Britain's no1 band. Would like to know what happened behind the scenes when this was shot.

Anybody know? Anybody around in that time would know The Rollers sent the girls wild. Slade did it with their music, The Rollers had pretty boy looks and sickly sweet pop songs, that's about all. However, fair play to them for making a place for the masters.

Come back Slade: there's so much love out there for you. Long live The Mighty Slade!!

  • Such power in Noddy's voice

  • I remember when this came out , made living in Europe that much more fun at 16.Dig that riff jimmy does on the keys then jumping to guitar.

  • This is a great song...quirky and amusing with a great bass riff!

  • ¿Como estas chica? Di!

  • - My też Wam dziękujemy za lata świetnego grania!...

  • my favorite band

    salu2ecuador

    santiago carrera

  • Is there any singers with a cooler face?

  • I believe this is the coolest, however im from '96, but i like this

  • Ya the 90s sucked i went to high school in the 90s.

  • @shane4896

    NO!

  • wow,live vocals.

  • multy talented jim lea can play any musical instoment, greaaaaat band second to no one

  • I WISH I HAD NODDY'S TIE....

  • i like slade, but what a haircut? :DDD

  • Wait for 5-10 years - this fashion will come back! :DDDD

  • yes sure! .. a haircut like Daves is rarely seen outside cheap sci-fi movies from the days when Slade ruled the charts. Something like that is inevitably destined to become cult some time or another, due to the cyclic nature of (bad) taste ;-)

  • Slade is the rare band who seem to enjoy the music as much as their fans. Everyone having a good time.

  • They're unique kinda like dave dee dozer & beaky something like that.

  • Arribaa!

  • What a fantastic tune from an incredibly fun band! As an American, I first became aware of Slade when "Run, Run Away" came out: I LOVED it, but never followed up, due to the scum who run MTV & American radio. You Tube has gotten me into them VERY heavily, however - better late than never, eh?!

  • @AnnihilatingAngel Nice one, mate.

  • Simply great!

  • I was a Slade fan from the start and went to every concert in London I could get to, I took my mum on one and she was standing on the chair and clapping and swinging to their music, she was at that time in her sixties......she loved Slade as well.......we missed the last train to home that night and dad was furious........

  • Noddy still gets a huge royalty cheque (check in USA-ese) every June/July for Merry Xmas everybody!!!

  • yep but the song is out of his hands, the comp owns it! he has no say on it, just gets the royalties, and remember if nod gets a mint, imagine what them vulture record men get........!!!!!!!!!!

  • You are very wrong my friend Noddy & Jim own the rights, thats why Nod & Jim dont need to carry on.

  • They sent themselves up so much people forget they're actually one of the best Brit bands ever.

  • Easy to forget how TOTALLY AWESOME Slade were. Todays bands pale by comparison

  • @steverabbits Exactly!!!!!!!!!

  • i always took this as them thankin us before nicking off to america to try and make it big. big mistake boys

  • Boy oh boy the memories, 1975, saw Slade at Manchester bellevue, April 29th I think. Remember they wore same outfits, saw this in a neighbours house cuz we couldn't get the channel. WOW, SLADE

  • Bloody hell - I was there at Belle Vue, too!

  • it was a great gig...as were all Slades gigs......no-one can touch them...they caould work a crowd like putty....

  • brilliant song

  • Noddy is one of my favourite vocalits, no my favourite.

  • I was the lone American kid in my highschool that got Slade. They were awesome!

  • What's with the lyric change... "Have some honey with you meat", was actually "Have a love smell on your sheet" in the studio version for the album.

Too overtly sexual perhaps...? I find that notion amusing considering whole song is thinly disguised smutty innuendo.

    Great stuff from Slade...

  • " Before Slade no one knew shit about how to make an audience riot.....there probably would never have been us without them" - Gene Simmons- Kiss

  • The loudness mouth in Glam, no need for a mic when Noddy's on stage.

    fakkin' Brilliant.............

My fave song with My baby left me.

Thanx for posting this sought after vid.

  • oh noddy slade put the top hat

  • Read my lips and concentrate!!!

  • alright I´ll eat an apple every day

  • THE TITLE SAYS IT ALL.........1

  • The unforgetable... SLEED.

  • Wham Bam Thank You Mam......I guess they said this before Bowie....I wonder how many other bands copied SLADE.

  • what a band!!they rooock!

  • They were just great. They were a band.

They could do it all. They could sing and

shout (noddy), They could play like no

other (jimmy) , They could tease the audiense

(dave) and they could play the little drum

like no other at that time (don).

They were just a band - but a good one and

they want the audience to feel the same.

    They were a band.

  • I love this song! 5*

  • What a tragedy the boys will not reform for one last great tour, they would sell out venue they went to. I, for one, would be willing to get tickets whatever way I could. The only thing better than slade getting back together would be the floyd, about as much chance as either of them is nil.

  • I guess they are performing in May 2008 I'll look it up,let you know

  • Really? That would be great, but maybe Noddys voice cant follow up after all these years?

  • Was Noddy planning to morph into Jeff Lynne;-)?!

Seriously, great footage, I've never seen before - thanx for posting!

  • Faboulous Song ! 5 *

  • sad noddy quit the music buisness -but i can't understand him....

  • slade killed brain jones form the rolling stones they should go to fucking prison right now?

  • you need professional help!

  • slade are freat but there are suspect lyrics in this song like have some honey on your meat.meaning only have a woman on your penis'thats prejudice.

i also hope there not saying that drying out banana skins can make you high if smoked as thats very childish. slade should be setting higher standerds.

  • you're not very well are you?

  • Well Sladev, you never know in this world my friend! Noddy might decide one day, you know what? Lets get the guys together! For one last bash! Hoping so! Thats assuming band relations are good though! I Forgot that small issue!

  • Can Slade reform? All the band members still alive? They should go back out on tour! Been great to see Slade live!

  • All orginal band members are still alive, but unfortunately a reunion is very unlikley to happen. However orginal members Dave Hill (guitar) and Don Powell are still touring as Slade together with John Berry (bass) and Mal McNulty (Vocals/guitar)

  • @Sladev

Is Noddy into working with Slade sometimes? Do you know if they'll ever unite again while they're all still here with us?

  • @Sladev no dave hill is no longer with us.

  • @britshop Nonsense - Dave is still alive!

  • Whos the posing mush introducing them with the womans hairstyle? Noddys mutton chops of gigantic proportions! Best band of the 70s, best glam rock band rather!

  • Whos the mush poser with the big hair introducing em? and who the hell is doing all the screaming? "They said Banana's could get you high* Is that a veiled racist comment? Slade best band of the 70s Glam rock scene!

  • hehe, love oldies

  • great stuff...thanx.

  • You should have seen Noddy's tie before he washed it and it shrunk.

  • Wait...That tie is shrunk? So how long it was before?

  • CLASSIC!LOVE IT.
