The gamble is not the risk of being a preventable 1 in 100,000, the risk is getting the disease/virus/w/e from not getting the vaccine. There is risk both ways, but it's far greater not getting the vaccine. If you don't want to get the vaccine fine, and I probably won't, but don't tell me it's a greater risk to get it than not to get it.
