Hey James have you ever heard of Five Star Xtreme DTM Primer? It's an epoxy and filler in one product, sands like butter, fills excellent, and doesn't run when I hose it on with my Satajet 100 B F with a 2.1 tip. Check out Tamcopaint HP-5310 Black Direct Metal primer. It's the same stuff but has a rust killer and costs less, which is why I'm switching. :)
I've yet to try Glasurit. Have you tried Matrix Systems? Matrix matches everything!
@SpecialedSpellcaster I would check manufacturer's rule of compliance. There are a number of DTM primers out there but when you research deeper into application most manufacturer's recommend epoxy or etching primer over large areas of bare metal. Most the DTM's I have run across are intended for the small bits of bare metal between original paint and new filler in a spot repair situation. I have used Diamont since the day I started refinishing and have not used other systems.
Ive used that Plastik Honey B4 it work pretty good in the winter/fall month out here in AZ cuz I work outside alot & my filler will get a lil stiff in the cooler temps it helps it spread a little easyer. I like the Evercoat Rage Xtreme filler myself
I only used Glasruit one time on a car all over. I will say the clear was good stuff man it looked thick.customer bought it. Hate Diamont. i will say the Dp 20 prime is good stuff. used the dc92 clear sucked on black stayed to soft and left way to many swirl marks.I miss the Dupont old Uro fill. Like the idea you are not scared to use bondo. You see one lazer straight down the side. its mud from the front to the back. Good video you know your shit...
great video Jeff I have never tried glasruit or diamont yet most ive been using ppg since school well the new place i work at now uses western 3rd demnsion single stage its ok still getting adjusted to it
have you used evercoat slicksand? it works great on pitted rust and also great for taking out the wave in metal, basf is the way to go at least around here in eastern pa, our local ppg service sux!
And here I thought you were a Ford guy this whole time.. I mean Fords win over Dodges 2:1 at your house.....4 chevys at my house, but my dream cars happen to be Fords and Chryslers lol.... I was here..... again..
i'm the same with filler here in the UK, i've used plastic padding since 1986 and its the best, shops i have worked for chop and change so i do get to try other stuff but as they are collision they won't spend for the best stuff
not getting to do as much spraying as i like i fall out of touch with the best primers, i'll certainly give glasurit a try when i get around to my own stuff
i'll be using up what i got first though on the daily drivers
