I've met Jerry in United Kingdom.He's a nice guy,no two ways about it.All the time for his fans,no bullshit,no ego or attitude,just a down to earth all round good guy.
I know a lot of Misfits fans have it for Jerry, and pretty much blame him for the departure of the original members (from both eras). No, AFI did sell out. They were punk for over 10 years, which never sold. They kept with it though and put out record after record. Then they went big. The instant they went big, they suddenly changed their style of music to one that sells. Remember, punk doesn't sell for shit (have no idea why), but emo goes platinum every time. firstly emo is punk.look up rites of spring first band to be called emo,great band too.secondly they didnt go straight to "emo" they had a few gothic records like black sails and the art of drowning,then they made sing the sorrow which is by far the greatest album they have ever made in my opinion then they made decemberunderground which is so-so but its defiantly not emo.its alternative if anything.
That's not really the point. It is that they changed to a style of music that is well known to sell. On top of that, the sounds and structures of the songs are very poppy. They pretty much went to pop. They want to sell instead of make good music. Black Sails and AOD were punk. Sing The Sorrow is an excellent record, which deserved to go big. But the money got to them. The quality of DU is very low, and the beat and structure is identical to that of general pop. They did it for the money.
