  • whats the translation to the song?

  • nice (from muslim)

  • Yemenites were isolated until recently safardim had spanish influence

  • kickass song!

  • yemenites are sephardim

  • actually theyre not

  • yes they are

  • yes they are

  • yemenites are 100% not sephardic, i am yemenite and i hate when people tell me i am sephardic bc i am not. get yr regiens correct.

  • @temoniprince i dont get how people dont understand that. any self-respecting jew should know the difference. its ashkenazim, sfardim, mizrahim, yemeni. period. yemeni and sfardi don't equal the same thing.

  • sephardim come from the Iberian peninsula doods, they are spanish!

  • It's a catch-all phrase jdmg.

  • I agree, this is too "Sephardacised!" I much prefer the Yemeni way, nice try though, it's interesting..

  • Hello, I'm not trying to pick up a heated argument, but what's wrong with sephardic music? Almost of the comments here are kind of against sephardic music and/or sephardics, why is that?. Yemenite, ashkenazi, sephardim, mizrahim, we are still one nation. Aren't we?

  • Hey Ali G ;)

Nothing is wrong with Sephardic music, it is great, my comment is not against

Sephardic music, I am just saying that this song is a great Yemeni song and

that I prefer the original Yemeni style of this Yemeni song. However, I did

say that this is still an interesting rendition of the song...

  • ..Im all for ppl doing there own thing with music, of course it is great when ppl

do their own take on thigs, if it wasnt for that we would not have jazz, right?

im just stating my opinion about this song..

  • ..On a separate note though, the description says "Sephardic Yemenite Wedding

Song", which doesn't make much sense! I guess Yemenite's feel that there is a

trend by many non-Yemenites to group us and our culture (music etc) into the

Sephardic tradition, which is inaccurate, and has made us some of us very

defensive (possibly over-defensive) of our culture when we are branded as

Sephardic, but like I said, this is a separate note..

  • ..Anyway, no hard feelings, and I hope that clears it up - take care bro!

    Jakshemash!

  • Thanks for clearing things up.

But I am not ali g :) lol.

    Be well.

  • cool, take care

  • mabye its a yemenite who married a sephardic

  • Dont you know its always the european way or no way

  • but don't you know you can't start the party without the sephardi

  • i agree.but how about arabic music?

  • Very cool. I saw these guys live, and they played this really well. The guy's voice is quiet versitile.

And for people here, stop being so chauvanistic. Music was meant to be interpreted and morph! It sounds great.

  • I completely agree with you. Music isn't set in stone after all.

  • Aba Shimon :( How beautiful this song was sung by Yemenites. Sephardic music destroyed the beautiful essense of the Yemenite version. In any case - people should leave the Yemenite versions alone - it's enough they're starting to say "Divan" instead of "Diwan"....

  • amazing song but moshav band kind of destroyed this song

    p.s i am yemenite

  • Hey, if you have a link to a different version, please send it to me. Thanks. PS If it weren't for Moshav, I would have never ever heard of Sephardic music.

  • yemenite music is NOT sephardic music
