When I open some different things on my comp like Internet explorer and WoW, a pop up comes up from my anti virus program say

It's definitely not a prank, 9to15million PC's have already been infected since October 2008, but as the person in this video said make sure all your MS patches are up to date and make sure you have a good anti-virus and firewall and also don't visit any dodgy sites.

If you can't afford software protection, three excellent freeware programs are avast anti-virus, comodo firewall and spybot (make sure you use spybot teatimer as well):

Well, i think the Worm is called "IEXPLORER.EXE", which is always running on your computer. You can check this by pressing Alt+Ctrl+Del then go to processes, if you see this process running and you are not using Internet Explorer then that can means you may have the Worm on your computer, i think i have figured out one way to prevent the Worm from effecting your computer and communicating URL's without your permission.

Download something called Process Blocker and block the process. PMmeIfNeed

In a worst case scenario:

Plan A: locate a version of Linux that boots and runs from CD or USB. Setup your internet and test it out. before April 1. Record your current IP if it is assigned to you from your ISP (cmd IPCONFIG or winipconfig). Test it out before April 1 to ensure you can at least surf the net to find out whats going on.

Plan B: Not sure yet.

But you wont even notice until you try to do some sort of update on your computer. But when this hacker gets control he will have the most powerful parallel computing system. For the average user and even most of the advance users you wont even notice it in your system. There is no way to prevent what will happen if your are already infected. If you turn off your computer and you already have it wont prevent anything. It is embedded in your network. So if you have multiple computers in your house more then likely if one is infected, they all are. Now dont expect to see it in a email. It will more then likely come from downloads on internet or and infected users usb.

This worm is much more complex then you may think. This worm was sent out in october of this year. Microsoft found it but it was too late. All they could do was send out a patch to prevent it from entering your computer. Now if you have been paying close attention to what is happening and been keeping your anti-virus and os updates up you might be able to prevent this. You can scan your computer all you want but it wont help. This worm was designed not to be found.

Yes, you could be infected if you got the worm before you were disconnected from the internet.

But it doesn't have to use the internet to infect you. If you put a Flash drive or memory card into a infected computer, and then put that flash drive into your pc, You pc then becomes infected.
