I was on Klonopin for 12 years and took what the doctor told me along with two other meds for fibromyalgia muscle pain, insomia, and restless syndrome. I was put on this med before the internet so information about the addiction qualities and withdrawal was not available. I wish the doctor had told the truth (benzo are alcohol for the brain). I would advise no one to take them. It took me 6 tries at detoxing and withdrawal symptoms for another year after I tapered off the meds.
I take these as prescribed (and they have helped me tremendously) and they cost so much....so watching this is upsetting. I would take those from you. Glad you didn't use the toilet.
@aja222 Where do you live that the cost of clonazepam is expensive? I am assuming here the generic brands of course. For example, Pharma Science, Apotex, ratiopharm...etc costs me around 20 bucks max for 60x 2mg sub-lingual tablets. Now compare that to the cost of lets say Zyprexa, which costs nearly 20 bucks a pill for the 10mg! Yikes!

Actually, it is the inactive ingredients that make the drug "feel" different to different people. Judging by thedoorsforever's commenting on every single person's comment, someone apparently has a liking for this drug.
Just get a batch of the Mylan brand and tell me they aren't considerably weaker than the rest... you must get Teva or Qualitest... those brands aren't bad.

I only had a recreational bout with benzos. xannies to be specific. My supply got cut off after 300 pills. I'm glad it did, I had what some would consider mild withdrawal symptoms. Still everyday for almost a month I felt like killing myself. I had been taking sometimes 6-9 mg of xanax a day. benzos need to be tapered, and SLOWLY otherwise they will make what you were taking them for, ten times worse.
@TheBrradsullivan Not just that, you would be amazed how many people go through the trash looking for drugs. I took a bunch of pain killers I no longer needed to the fire dept. That's another place you can drop off any prescriptions you no longer need. Also, never flush pills. And they won't cause pollution, they make our water bad, but it would have to be tons of meds to ever make that hapen. Best thing, just take them to the local police or fire dept.

I was up to taking 90 10mg valium everyday for about a year. Now I have a wonderful doctor that I would trade for anything. He knows how these damn pills can be real killers! Now I can take 1 pill whenever I need it. You can't stop unless you really want too and try.

Umm, I took Xanax for 16 years and switched to klonopin and been on it for 4 and I get six refills per prescription in my state when I am in the states... every SIX months was the policy in VT before one needed a new prescription. And I take it for mania NOT anxiety... without these meds I would be homicidal and Lithium and Depakote or any of the other shit for that did nothing so don't act like that...

@videodesignerz Lol price for Clonaz is $4 a pop for each 2mg tablet. However, it does cost more for each 0.5mg = $1.50. I am assuming you had over 200 pills of the 0.5 there. Makes that worth 300 bucks max.

I am on Klonopin for over 5 years now. Tried the Ashton taper, but no luck! Completely different metabolic processes to active metabolite... Also, most people don't know this, but clonazepam is not only 10-15x stronger diazepam, as it is also sub-lingual!
@videodesignerz Go research, it is amongst the few that do come in sub-lingual form. That and Lorazepam. But, obviously pharmacists and Doctor's neglect to tell patients this, as it makes them much more easier for abusing. Or, simply they don't know. Research the brand Pharma Science here in Canada. They are 2 mg white, says clonazepam around the 1 side of the tablet and 2.0 on the other with a break in the middle. 100% sublingual, tastes like sugar then minty fresh. Trust me on this.

Most people don`t Realize; but clonazepam preparations are almost always designed to be sub-lingual. Meaning, better and even higher bio-availability and since it goes through first-pass metabolism and through the blood-brain-barrier; thus possesses higher potency than many relatively potent bensos; such as: xanax, bromazepam, lorazeapm...ETC.
I'll take them, for some of us they mean the difference between having to drop a class involving something that seems so simple like group work and getting our degree.
Good job getting off them. It's a real shame that benzos are so freely prescribed to anyone who sees a doctor for anxiety, when really it is therapy that people need to learn to identify their anxiety and understand how to control it.

Opiate (yes that includes heroin to) withdrawals isn't shit compared to benzo withdrawals.
Benzo withdrawals are a million times worse then opiate withdrawals. I was addicted to Oxycodone and opium. And I have to say, getting off that shit was a million times easier and less painful then kicking a bad benzo addiction.

I was on the methadone program in my area and was dosing at 160mg for a little over 3 years, I was taking klonopin daily also (around 5mg a day). One summer I got out of control with the "pins" and was taking around 10 mgs everyday, For me coming off the benzo's sucked big time but getting off the opiates (methadone) was far more horrible... just saying
Ya, well guess what. Benzo withdrawals nearly killed me, I had fucking seizures, it felt like my brain was bleeding, extreme pain, both physically and mentally. It was overall worse then opiate withdrawals, and guess what?
IT LASTED WAY, WAY, FUCKING LONGER THEN OPIATE WITHDRAWALS. A million fucking times longer.
Opiate withdrawals where horrible for me, but it was quick, and compared to quitting benzos, it was fucking easy.

@mrbratsch Idk, I'm an RN and I was told to instruct patients to not throw their drugs down the toilet. I can't give you specific reasons why, but maybe it's because of chemical interactions when the water later gets purified or something. It's the same with funeral homes. After they drain out blood from dead bodies, they're not supposed to dump it down the sink, because then it would get into the public water system.
when i was young (so ashamed of this) i was a heroin addict and would do almost anything to get money to use (beg barrow steal) anything but sexual shit (but i knew ppl who did...). I quit heroin cold turkey and on another occasion a 20 mg a day xannax addiction and gettin off the xanax was maybe 1/4 the hell. it sucked, jus not as bad. no vomitting or diarrhea, jus jitters, anxiety, and insomnia (which come with opiate withdrawals as well as pain from head to toe, and not wanting to eat)

Benzodiazepine and alcohol withdrawal are the hardest substances to withdraw from. Even harder then opiates or amphetamines. I respect those who have gone thru those withdrawals.

I usually only do valium, but when I had klonopin I would need 10mgs of it to get a nice waaaaahhh hypnotic high. Lately I have been trying to find a chemical company that sells pure cheap phenazepam which is legal here in America, but it isn't a controlled substance and it a strong potent benzo with a long 60 hour half life
I'm too scared to ask my doctor for 90 lol, but he was cool enough to call me in a 1 weeks worth of medicine when i told him i 'lost my bottle doing laundry'. that and the pharmacy has known me for so many years I can get my refill 7-10 days early with no questions asked.

@videodesignerz Lol price for Clonaz is $4 a pop for each 2mg tablet. However, it does cost more for each 0.5mg = $1.50. I am assuming you had over 200 pills of the 0.5 there. Makes that worth 300 bucks max.
Anyhow, congrats on the taper.
I am on Klonopin for over 5 years now. Tried the Ashton taper, but no luck! Completely different metabolic processes to active metabolite... Also, most people don't know this, but clonazepam is not only 10-15x stronger diazepam, as it is also sub-lingual!

But, obviously pharmacists and Doctor's neglect to tell patients this, as it makes them much more easier for abusing. Or, simply they don't know. Research the brand Pharma Science here in Canada. They are 2 mg white, says clonazepam around the 1 side of the tablet and 2.0 on the other with a break in the middle. 100% sublingual, tastes like sugar then minty fresh. Trust me on this.

Good job getting off them. It's a real shame that benzos are so freely prescribed to anyone who sees a doctor for anxiety, when really it is therapy that people need to learn to identify their anxiety and understand how to control it.

@vorkev1 heroin withdrawal is more harsh but it doesn't last but a month. And actually benzos have a better chance of killing you when coming off because of seizures. And all benzos do for doctors that ween heroin patients is get them hooked into something else that will keep them buying from the doctors and not from their pusher on the streets. Opiate (yes that includes heroin to) withdrawals isn't shit compared to benzo withdrawals.
Benzo withdrawals are a million times worse then opiate withdrawals. I was addicted to Oxycodone and opium. And I have to say, getting off that shit was a million times easier and less painful then kicking a bad benzo addiction.

@JenkemBOMBS I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one, I used to be addicted to both opiates (methadone) and benzo (klonopin). I was on the methadone program in my area and was dosing at 160mg for a little over 3 years, I was taking klonopin daily also (around 5mg a day). One summer I got out of control with the "pins" and was taking around 10 mgs everyday, For me coming off the benzo's sucked big time but getting off the opiates (methadone) was far more horrible... just saying

Ya, well guess what. Benzo withdrawals nearly killed me, I had fucking seizures, it felt like my brain was bleeding, extreme pain, both physically and mentally. It was overall worse then opiate withdrawals, and guess what?
IT LASTED WAY, WAY, FUCKING LONGER THEN OPIATE WITHDRAWALS. A million fucking times longer.
Opiate withdrawals where horrible for me, but it was quick, and compared to quitting benzos, it was fucking easy.

@mrbratsch Idk, I'm an RN and I was told to instruct patients to not throw their drugs down the toilet. I can't give you specific reasons why, but maybe it's because of chemical interactions when the water later gets purified or something. It's the same with funeral homes. After they drain out blood from dead bodies, they're not supposed to dump it down the sink, because then it would get into the public water system.

when i was young (so ashamed of this) i was a heroin addict and would do almost anything to get money to use (beg barrow steal) anything but sexual shit (but i knew ppl who did...). I quit heroin cold turkey and on another occasion a 20 mg a day xannax addiction and gettin off the xanax was maybe 1/4 the hell. it sucked, jus not as bad. no vomitting or diarrhea, jus jitters, anxiety, and insomnia (which come with opiate withdrawals as well as pain from head to toe, and not wanting to eat)

I used to be a school teacher. I never once in the two years I was on it abused my 1mg a day of klonopin. My brain feels fried. I have severe short term and long term memory loss. I am no longer able to do the job I was trained to do and it takes triple the time to type something like this out than it did before I started this med. This drug destroyed my life.....funny?

i flushed a load of xanax down the toilet before, i still take them the odd time but never for long enough to get a habit.
i was never prescribed them, it was purely recreational to begin with for years but i got hooked when i started taking them daily for 4-5 months and i ended up on 10-15mg a day, thats when i flushed em and went cold turkey which i now know to be dangerous..it was fucking hell for around 2 weeks, hallucinations, rattles, paranoia verging on insanity, i abused and i paid

I usually only do valium, but when I had klonopin I would need 10mgs of it to get a nice waaaaahhh hypnotic high. Lately I have been trying to find a chemical company that sells pure cheap phenazepam which is legal here in America, but it isn't a controlled substance and it a strong potent benzo with a long 60 hour half life
