anybody would sound ear screeching if they had to follow in freddie's footsteps. brian may is actually a pretty good singer, but compare his version of love of my life to freddie's and it's not in the same league.
John could sing, but the other's sang better. In addtion he was shy which is what Bri and Roger wanted, so he wouldn't interfere or compete with them, or with Freddie, as some of the guys they auditioned had tried to do. He kept the financial records, gig appointments etc. until they started making money and hired a manager. He developed the Deacy Amp, set up the stage lighting, amp placement etc. His chosen field had been electrical eng. As a side note, he was a gifted bass player!!!
It's like the Linda McCartney tapes where they isolate her voice. It's really not fair because even great singers sound bad most of the time at live shows when doing backgrounds.
@lee3701 He was going through a really hard time. He was really close to Freddie and suffered major depression and grief when Freddie died. His choice was to live the quiet life with his family, and I don't blame him.
@lee3701 Continued working with Queen through "Made in Heaven" and up until the first show of We Will Rock You, on 14 May 2002. That´s almost 11 years after Freddy died. Then, he retired.
@C0L0SS0 It is John, his mic would occasionally be accidentally turned up, there are a few other recording where you can hear him pretty good but this one is the most distinct. I dont think it was the same "Fool" at every one of those concerts...
@selfhelpguy You might know this already...it's from the video for 'Friends Will Be Friends' (1986), co-written by John and Freddie. I like that shot too, it's like 'yes I wrote this, and I'm enjoying this video shoot with all these fans, this is good.' :)
@MrRetiredOfficer I accidentally put another 'o' in 'to' I don't think it's a very big deal...Plus You Tube isn't exactly a English class, if I spell something wrong or use bad grammar it isn't exactly the end of the world.
Alguien sabe por que John Deacon no aparece en el video de INNUENDO?

We all understood very well what he/she wrote. Bad English or bad grammar or just s little spell mistake shouldn't bother anyone.

Harsh - if you isolate any singer in a live context, it will be rough.

I love the shot at 0:18 to 0:20. It's like the greatest second of a bass player's entire life captured pefectly and frozen in time.
