@Passie808 hah, i didnt realize this was a classic feature film! thought it was an internet video, but then again i didnt make it past the intro so it could very well be!
At the moment I don't have the time to make new video's.
An advice: keep experimenting. It's not easy like a Roland instant-beat-groovebox. it has a certain learning curve. The possibilities are only limited by your creativity.
You can find good information on the soundonsound site and electro-music forum
Your demo structure is very tight. One of the best demos for the XS I've seen. Too many "experimental" type videos with synths like this. Most people want to know how something like this sounds in a compositional context, which you've given in spades.
This thing does Kraftwerk to the max. Sounds kinda like if Unicrom made a transformer out of a Sherman Filterbank, ARP Odyssey and SCI Pro-1. I'll never part with mine. Going to pair it with some modules for that more "retro" wooley sound.
are you using anything to sequence this or is it all through itself? Thanks in advance...best

@Lemure333 The FR XS doesn't have a sequencer. I used it together with Logic and a Motu midi express 128 interface.

Sounds a bit like Get Innocious by LCD Soundsystem at the start

I don't care what people say i liked the intro. Could of been used for a THX intro at the movie theater.

Do you ever use the patchstrip on the top?

the XS is a beast of a machine, I'll never get rid of mine!

Thank you for your comment.
At the moment I'm working on a multitimbral piece with 22 XS tracks and one revolution track: Also Sprach Zarathustra.
Passie808 2 years ago
I'd really like to hear that! I love that piece, and hearing it on a synth would be interesting.

Great vid -- what are you using for effect processing?

Roland VS-1824 mixer

Never mind -- if i had waited until the very end I would have gotten the answer!
I wonder what this little monster would sound like processed by a Moog analog delay

Very very fat.

nice tweaktoy, i like nobs ...lots of it ;)....
no presets? does that mean you can not save sounds at all,
or does the sequencer play your latest recorded filters?
XHALE303 2 years ago
That's right. You can't save sounds, but you can write it on patch cards (like they did it in the 70's and early 80's)
There is no internal sequencer
Passie808 2 years ago
Ok thanx....im producing 4 about 23 years now, also own(ed) a lot of 70s/80s gear, so im familiar with those ;)
