  • Use of graphs was impressive and good. I also liked your opinionated approach and how you kept on giving your own examples it was good that we were given a good idea on how you thought about the points you made and what you picked up from the reading

  • Good podcast. The use of the several graphs helped me to follow graphically the podcast. By the way I have to say that the first part is quite low (audio). I don't know what happened from minute 6/7, as I could hear your echo and actually I couldn't understand anything. Fortunately it stops after 30 seconds.

I suppose that games such as Pacman and Tetris do not need any narrative to be loved by the end-user. They are both skills games, and only practice can make the player better.

  • Good effort dude. Your use of graphs and images helped me understand your points better and you're voice is clear throughout. There's definitely a story to games like Pacman and Tetris. At a most primitive Pacman is a game of chase/tag but the player no doubt subconsciously projects some kind of narrative in there.

  • Nice One Easy to understand and a really good use of the graphs etc, Also like your quotes, the voice was a bit quite but that's more down your soft spoken voice than technical issues!

  • Extremely clear sound quality, I liked the way you quoted. Great use of charts and diagrams to backup your points.

    Ali

  • If there is no set story line people will always try to interpret one i would say which is what johnny said in class.

  • Good use of imagery however, some of the images could of been linked properly so it would relate to what you were discussing at the time. Bug? There was two audio layers from 6 minute 30 i can hear you speaking twices with a slight delay. You discussed the reading well and spoke clear and precise. I would agree with Carmel slightly my imagination now has increased but when younger my imagination was relating to things i could do when older.

  • good podcast man, i did comment this already but i have to redo it, yeah i think you hit on all the main points well, to answer your question about pac man or tetris im not sure, i think if they tried they could give it a story and eveyone would follow but like johnny said people come up with their own stories in their imagination

  • Good podcast, it was interesting and covered a lot of what was mentioned by the reading, not to mention that you added your own examples and opinions in places which gave it that all important added depth and intimacy. You also incorporated the use of pictures well. However at times I found it slightly hard to follow, both because of the changes in volume as well as a few other sound issues, and perhaps on occasion the language used wasnt as clear as it could have been.

  • In response to your question on whether or not games like pac-man and tetris, can be said to have any kind of plot and/or narrative, in my opinion they can, but the vast majority will only exist in the players imagination, and how he interprets the possibility of the fairly simple situation presented to him through game play.

  • I also think that such games can increasingly be categorised as games of progression in modern times, as such games tend to have at least a visual progressive narrative these days.

  • This podcast was a tad quiet but you spoke clearly which made it eaiser yo understand what you were saying. I dont agree with the point at the start however. I think that my imagination is a lot stronger now than it was when I was younger. You covered the reading well though.

  • good effort i liked the way you talked about user output and input of the game and also the images were great examples for your reading

  • Good podcast I thought it was easy to understand and you covered the reading very well and your voice wasn't monotonic, which kept me interested and the images helped as well. I thought the way you explained the game cycle was really good.

    Well done Adam :)

  • Good podcast, albeit a bit on the quiet side. I liked the image of the player/input, game/output that you included, I think it is a good general way of looking at the subject at hand. The example you gave for decision making was a good one stealth-based games, I feel, always offer a nice balance of action and stealth, but also offer a choice to the player. I have to ask, was it just me or did something go quite wrong around 6:50? I heard two of you!

  • In terms of story for pacman and tetris, no, I feel like they do not need a story, and the same with many arcade games. I feel these games are games of progression, just in a slightly different way, for example, you progress by beating your score.

  • I always find games of emergence more suitable to an idea of a magic cycle, like Goematry wars 1/2, where i lost many hours focused on the events on-screen and always wanting to get a high score to my friends.

Good podcast, easy to listen to, though a little audio problem in the middle and lack of questions posed to listeners, but otherwise great podcast.

  • Good podcast! Love the intro music xD

You summed up the reading very well. I especially like how you talked about the different meanings that could be found in games and how they might be different for adults and children

  • did you play for the audio to keep changing as it was really annoying and rather disorientating

overall i did like your summary on the reading as i fell you clearly described the magic circle as the continuous cycle of interactivity between players and games and the spiral that donates the difference's in things such as narrative and general play but found the lack of background music and questions from you to be a down side to a overall good pod cast
