  • Rip the audio from this song at thetunify doht cohm.

  • Why would it be their last tour what the hell. i want to see them come to america one last time!!!

  • NevilleGoanna the anti-Semite needs to grow up and quit blaming an ethnicity and or religion for all of the world's problems. Jesus fucking Christ what a fucking shithead you are.

  • Peter Garrett. SELL OUT. In pay of his master. THE JEWS. Nev.

  • yeh i do want a fucking medal mothalicka. do u want one too so u can shove it upur ass just like ur big black dildo in ur mums drawer?

hit me back man, i can get 2 made

  • AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE OY OY OY

  • You people are really sad this concert wasnt about politics, it was about helping people whos lives have been changed for the worse because of an unavoidable tradgedy. So stop your bitchiness and think about why Midnight Oil is on that stage, to try and HELP those families. You have no right to critise them for this

  • sylviekloot you suck peter garrett is awesome and so is australia and who ever things australia is the greatest god dam country in the world say aussie aussie aussie

  • Poor Sylvie is obviously a bitter soul with an axe to grind... Peter Garrett has stepped away from his political hat to add to the wonderful efforts of so many artists for such a good cause...

Personally, I'm proud to live in this "disgraceful country" as Sylvie puts it... she obviously has no clue!!!

  • oh yes? and where do you come from? where exactly do you get off on judging a nation based on who's in control? with Iraq, that was the result of the former leader, Howard who would do whatever Bush commanded. Most of us don't care about religion, and if we have taken the worst qualities of americanism, please remind me what's worse: Aboriginals or the Ku Klux Klan? if you hesitated with the answer, now who's being Hypocritical.

  • Well done mikebirch9! Ive been overseas since December so ive had to listen to all the bushfire reports over here and watch sound relief on youtube, sadly. Ive never been prouder of Australia as a nation than i am now- seeing that we can all band together to help out people who have lost everything.

If i were you, i would have just told SylvieKloot to fuck off, so well done for presenting a brilliant rebuttle!!

  • He was president of the Australian Conservation Foundation, a highly influential body, and a respected environmental and indigenous rights activist for twenty or so years before he entered parliament. Unlike where you come from (obviously) people in Australian public life can be multi faceted and respected for it. Thank goodness idiots like yourself are deterred - stay away!

  • i heard that kings of leon didn't play sex on fire because of the 'sex', not the 'fire'?

  • Please Peter give up your day job!!!!!!!!!

  • I may be wrong about this (feel free to corrcet me if I am) but I think that Peter Garrett is the only politician in the entire world who gets on stage and performs with a band to help people in need and get his message across. Maybe even to remind himself where he came from and what he stands for. Oils forever!

  • why did they sing that song when people house got burnt

  • I'm pretty sure the song is about land rights. It actually has nothing to do with fire.

  • Better singer than a pollie

  • Peter Garrett ROCKS!!!

  • FFS, can we leave politics out of this?

  • Midnight Oil has always been about politics, so there is no reason to leave them out of this post!

  • Turn our backs, huh? Well, that sounds like a well informed position, considering you live in a cave, on Mars, with your eyes closed and your fingers in your ears.

Wait, you don't? Well, in that case, I'm going to have to ridicule A) Your intelligence, B) Your own hypocrisy, which is doubled by your own claims and C) Your position.

I really can't understand how you can say "All people from this country are racists and hypocrites", when that in itself is racism, and therefore hypocrisy.

  • Peter Garrett certainly looks more comfortable here than in Parliament. Then again he has a lot more experience on stage and is in control whereas in politics you have the party machine squashing any independent thought out of you.

  • i have thought for a while now that Peter Garret was a hypocrite, but i'm starting to think more and more that there is something more sinister going on behind the scenes. Rudd used his fame to get into office and has handed all power over to Penny Wong (She's bloody useless). Peter is inexperienced in politics and is probably being stomped all over. He still believes what he says, but unfortunately government doesn't work like that. look at poor Gough...

  • garret has transformed himself into the great australian wanker and bureaucrat. why you people cheered instead of pissing on him is beyond belief. Internet is in the process of being successfully censored and where is Garrett?

power and the passion my ass...All thats left is the Oil slick......

    Wombats....

  • Long story short, He's a Sell Out. And i'd be happy if he moved back into music.

  • Agreed, hope he can make it back.....

  • Youll find that anything of real interest will be on pay TV in an attempt to get us to sign up for it - good business for them and bad for us!!

  • Legend Mate!!!!!!!!!

  • if i knew this song was peter garrett from the beginning, i wouldnt be here writing this now...

  • i fucking love midnight oil....

I WANT EM TO REFORM DAMMIT

    make it happen

peter garrett wasnt his old self though... k rudds hand was obviously clenched tightly around his genitals

  • true, otherwise he would have done

    us forces

    :D

  • What an honour it was to be somewhere in that crowd there, I had goosebumps through this whole performance

P.S - the song is primarily about Indigenous land rights in Australia :-)

  • ok pples, all the bands were great, the songs, dosnt matter what was sung, the cause was the main objective. BUT the greatest concert in aus history, The reform Of Great Aus bands. AND NO FREE TO AIR COVERAGE,OK do 20mil aussies have cable??oH we HAVe got liVE coverage of OS EVENTS, to me this is the issue how dare the pollies ETC spill how much this meant to us.and they would not allow the masses to see this event.YES they could have enforced free to air to show this event.

  • It was probably because the free to air networks were not interested in broadcasting it, so it fell back on PayTV to show it.

  • It was great that Foxtel played it as a bonus to those of us that pay for subscription TV. Yet they charge extra for pay-per-views such as Taylor v. Mundine. I just don't follow their logic.

  • have you listened to, and/or read the lyrics to Beds Are Burning? - it's the perfect song for the occasion

  • Kings of leon thought it would cause too much controversy if they did Sex on Fire, and campared to kings of leon where they say "you sex is on fire" midnight oil actually had environmental issues or political issues behind their songs, besides this song is about human's treatment of the earth not bushfires in general.

  • I thought Kings chose not to play it. Somewhat ridiculously, seeing as they played a compilation of bushfire footage several times during the day that feature, among other songs, 'Sex on Fire'. That was a bright idea, whoever edited that together. It's one thing to play a song to the crowd, it's another to play it over actual bushfire footage.

  • do you actually know what sex on fire is about..?

those teeny boppers need to actually realise when they say to eachother (your sex is on fire) theyre actually referring to that they have gonorrhea..

  • you read the age too i'm guessing?

  • What a great show by Midnight Oil !! Peter Garratt for PM.

  • Good on Peter Garratt, Midnight Oil, and every other band who reformed, even for only one night to help out the poor bastards in Victoria and Queensland, and everyone who could make it to those concerts.

Midnight Oil did sound good considering they haven't played together up until recently and lets hope that some of these groups may play together for a few concerts at least after this event. May give some of us too young to have seen them in the past one chance to see them live perhaps.

  • <3 Peter Garrot! Everytime I see him do his crazy dance it makes me wanna dance too! xD

  • Can't believe he sang this for a fire relief concert lol.

Yes it's about aboriginal land, but still you can't ignore the title LOLOLOLOL

  • I was there with my two kids - 13 and 16 - they thought it was an absolute blast - I was so proud of Peter Garrett and the Oils for putting on a show as good as any I used to see in Newcastle 20+ years ago. Thanks for posting nelgsta

  • peter garrett is lurch

  • i was there... the guys a fruit loop... and they played the lest 2 nights in canberra b4 sound relief... they'll be back

  • I cant stop laughing at him!

  • i was thereee =D

haha his dancing haha its classic

    best concert!

    xx

  • I fucking love how he dances

  • wat a joke

y would u tape it from the tv n put it on youtube

i was there live man, the last gig of the oils ever

tv cant show how good they really are

but i agree with the whole K.O.L song choices.

    peace

  • i'll happily remove this vid when you post a blurry, pixelated, can't hear anything .00001 megapixel phone video from the mosh pit! until then, it's all some people have got to see!

  • do u want a fuckin medal u douche bag

  • Too bad his legalising whaling and authorising pulp mills in Tasmania.

He did more for the enviroment before he went in to politics.

    Bring back the old Garret!

  • What a wonderful committed Band. Peter Garrett is as great as ever!

  • one of the greatest aussie bands ever.

  • is that the last night one

  • kidbluff is a loser!

  • thats ok kings of leon are shit house any way. man u have got to love Peter Garretts dancing it makes me proud to be australian

  • Garrett is a legend!

  • LEGENDS

  • get a grip kibluff! you reckon there would be one single bushfire victim who would say "dont play that song during a benefit to help me - id be offended". oh please! aussies are just not that precious. kings of leon got it wrong.

  • Kings of Leon did not play Sex On Fire for other reasons, I suspect, possibly something to do with not wanting to piss off their fans who paid $100 for a ticket to their other shows... If Midnight Oil, led by a Federal Minister, can belt out Beds Are Burning, then WAKE UP Kings Of Leon and stop being so politically correct. The only disappointment of the day.

  • dont get me wrong i love midnight oils but kings of leon didnt song sex on fire because the didnt want 2 offend ne1 and i just think its weird midnight oild didnt think the same waysome of the victoms may have felt this song hard 2 listen 2 i know im going 2 get told im an idiot thought it was worth mentioning

  • yes, you're an idiot. stop thinking.

  • i wish i could've been in oz for this, what an incredible concert for our people.

The Oils were the voice of the voiceless, their punk attitude masked by their veil of memorable and accessible songs to the mainstream.

Most important aussie band ever IMO.

  • This music will never die. I dont care what anyone says Peter Garrett has not sold out, this guy and his band really do love playing.

  • Garrett and the Oils still have it big time, the coolest Minister for the Environment ever!

  • i missed this whole thing. god i wish i had iq. i hope for gods sake, they will have a dvd of this concerte. like they did with wave aid

  • I just got back from this! W00t!

I was one of the 80,000 voices singing along... lol.

  • Me, too. It was fantastic.

  • I was rapt to hear the Oils were going to perform and I just love this number - AND the dancing is and always will be AWESOME. What a brilliant day for Australia

  • just awesome....awesome. on so many levels. love it.

  • Ahhh The Oils, I can still feel his sweat hit me in the face when I seen them 24 yrs ago & he still has it. What a great Aussie band, he's still got the moves.

    Thanks for sharing nelgsta.

  • Perhaps the best Aussie band? Credit is definitely deserved for coming back for one night and delivering such a gobsmacking show! Go the Oils!

  • They didnt come back for once night, they played in canberra thursday and friday night as i went and seen them play a full 2 hour set in canberra on friday night, one of the best concerts ever!

  • i'd say it was a warm-up? they're unlikely to be playing the local RSL on a weekly basis...

  • Love it ! Peter Garrett has still got it !

  • I love when Garrett dances!!!!
