  • unfortunately this ist Not Comedian Harmonists ha ha

  • @Relleumppm Fortunately it says so in the title, if you bothered to read, ha ha.

  • that was excellent, gentlemen

  • @64wing Thank you very much!

  • Comment removed

  • Quite good and quite enjoyable despite some slight intonation and balance problems.

What a shame they use the name of the fabulous group from the 1930's!

  • @MrFpam Why shame? It's their arrangement.

  • @trudbol But the quality of the voices is not nearly as good and it gives people a false impression of the Comedian Harmonists who were quite outsatanding.

  • @MrFpam It clearly says in the title that it's a collab. Just read before you watch.

No need for condescending comments, we're amateur singers who produced a FREE music video that you just watched.

I just love that the people who write unfriendly comments always have ZERO videos on their page. Sure gives you a lot of credibility.

  • @MrFpam Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy our recording!

It wasn't our intention to give a false impression of this video being a recording of the Comedian Harmonists and we don't call ourselves like them. We hoped this would be clear, since it says it's a cover in the video title, the video description and the video itself. We're just fans, having fun doing an amateur cover and sharing it.

Regarding the balance and blending: Where do you feel we're off and which voice do you think sticks out?

  • this translation is grap, you can`t translate such german in english, cause english does not have this poetic words.

Thats why german is the language of the poets and philosophers and not this slang named "english"

  • @DerErwecker I think you meant "crap"...

And you're right: Shakespeare, Jonathan Swift, Lord Byron, James Wright, Oscar Wilde... all grappy non-Germans.

PS: We provided this translation so that non-German speakers could enjoy the story as well. I hope you understood at least that.

  • @trudbol

yep 50 % of brits got german blood, the rest got viking blood or kelt blood wich is german too.

    So.. ?!

  • Comment removed

  • @trudbol

Don`t correct me, my english is surely better then your german will ever be.

the difference between your english island slang and the motherlanguage german is:

in english you got one word for a thousand things

in german we got thousand words for one thing

shakespear ? fake and nothing more - read newspapers - thank you.

The only brit poet wich i love is Lewis Carroll, he tried to make your english like the poetic german like you can read in "Jabberwocky".

  • @DerErwecker I'll never quite get how haters can take so much time posting lengthy comments in poor English, in which they lecture those who actually work to produce free quality content on YouTube. Really beats me.

  • @DerErwecker

  • @DerErwecker come on guys both countries gave beautiful music and great poets!

  • @superkhelim I never said otherwise.

  • which part are you singing in this quartet?

  • @ganekelioque I'm singing the melody on T1.

  • Julian I'm loving this, and would like it on my i-pod. Is there a way I could get an mp3?

  • your bass doesn't know how to blend, and his part was stupid

  • @hideyourbuttchuck Your comment doesn't make any sense

  • @hideyourbuttchuck Interesting, I had the opposite impression, regarding the blending. Maybe I didn't understand your comment? You mean the bass sticks out? I felt that the lower three voices blend very well and only tenor 1 sticks out a little bit (which doesn't bother me that much, because it's the melody).

Furthermore: What do you mean by "stupid"? You dislike the bassline of the song? Or the Daniel's body language in the video? Or his vocal technique?

  • Exzellente Darbietung. Kompliment!

  • @thoreasia Dankeschön!

  • Perfekt ist Euer Tempo, getreu der Tradition. Danke sehr.

  • Wow!

Heard all that new stuff from you, and just now I'm seeing that you can at least sing in german!

Really, I'm very impressed and even a bit honored :D

    Keep up your work! ;)

Love and Greets from Germany :)

  • @RuffysDarlin Danke schön! ;-)

Tu as une merveilleuse voix.

  • German is such a beautiful language.

PS. When is Christoph getting an account? I'd subscribe to him.

  • @DogDays124 Thank you, it's nice to know that non-German people can appreciate these recordings, too! I'll pass your request to Christoph about getting his own channel/videos. BTW: Here are two other recordings from 2007, in which he participated:

    - watch?v=yyVqu9_F7Uk

    - watch?v=R_Dp-cLjh5E

You have to add the htt...-part that precedes every YouTube-URL. I had to omit that in the links, because YouTube doesn't allow URLs in comments. Let me know if you have problems opening the links.

  • My friend you are better than the original

you have my rispeckt I am proud to be your friend on youtube

  • @1407Kasimir Wow, thanks for the high praise! In this video, we had a great advantage: Christoph---the singer far to the right, from the viewer's perspective (who sung the baritone)---is a professional opera soloist. We were honored, that he agreed on recording a YouTube video with us!

  • I`m kinda proud of you Guys.Well, proud may not be the right Term.Well, it is sort of like the Feeling you have, when:

You look upon one of the great Rivers of Europe, for Example the Rhine. You feel the History that passed here, the Love that so many forgot.Every Moment of Life, summed up in a single Breath, upon this River.

    That would describe it.Well done!

  • @ReezeGoingSenseless Wow, thanks for your nice comment! Knowing that people appreciate these videos really makes our effort worthwhile!

  • Did I not comment upon this video earlier today? Strange! I love these collaborations in song and video. Thanks so much for doing this!

  • @awreslr2 Glad you enjoyed it! Not a very popular piece (for most people who don't know Schubert) and it was a hard one to sing! We all live in different locations and German isn't my first language, and Patrick (tenor 2, far left) did an amazing job with the video editing, making it seem as if we were in the same room. Christoph (baritone, far right) was our vocal coach and is by far the best element in the group: a professional baritone opera soloist! Daniel (bass) gives it the "umph" we need!

  • @trudbol THANKS for telling us a little more about the performers, too! Much appreciate learning about great performers like you and the 3 others! That's just amazing how it all looks like you were all together performing in one location.

Schubert is one of my favorites of all time. A really under-appreciated genius of musical composition.

  • I can only applaud this!

Technology is great, and it is really bringing people together!

    and a great vocal quartet!

  • @ImaginaryMdA Thanks for your kind words!

And yes, it's indeed a great thing about the technology that we have access to, nowadays: People can make music together, even though they are located at distant locations. People in general should make more music together, instead of fighting wars against each other.

  • @Partyburner

    Amen to that!

    (not that I'm religious though!)

I can't wait to see obama sing a duet with some middle eastern prime minister!

  • @acapeles1 Thanks Les!

  • @acapeles1 thanks - we are glad you liked the song

  • This is so beautiful. A marvelous production! I just keep playing it over and over! And how interesting to learn there was an original Comedian Harmonists...I will take a look at some of the rare footage here at youtube.

  • @namastecanyousee Thank you very much---it's really nice to know people enjoy the videos we put up!

The Comedian Harmonists were a popular German vocal ensemble around 1930. Unfortunately, their style of music got a little out of fashion, nowadays. But I'm glad there are still people who appreciate it! They also did less serious and more funny songs too, btw.

  • @namastecanyousee Thanks a bunch, so glad you enjoy it! Cheers

  • @acapeles1 Hey Les! Thanks, it's nice to know our releases are missed :).

  • KLASSE Performance, die Herren... Super toll gesungen;-)))

    4xThumbUp von mir!!!

    Ciao....Bino

  • @savale2110 Vielen Dank für das große Lob!

  • Awesome !

  • @Darggahast Thanks!

  • @BecauseofU43861 Thanks so much for the nice comment. Cheers

  • awesome video / collab.......love the static filter....helps it look like you're all in the same room together

2 thumbs and everything else UP !

  • @skidfrog Thanks! You can't imagine how much work it was to do all the local fine-tuning with these filters. But I'm glad the in-one-room-illusion seems to work---so it was worth it!

  • nice vocals!! and well blended together

    very good collab

  • @enricator Thank you!

  • Very good job ^0^

    BEAUTIFUL harmonies ^w^

  • @WinonaFlammery Thanks!

  • Fantastic work gentlemen!!!! Awesome vocals as expected, and great work on the video!

  • @robangus Thank you very much!

  • @robangus Thanks Rob, much appreciated.

  • Great job!! I enjoied it a lot, thanks for your singing!

  • @blendingmelodies I'm glad you like it, thanks for your nice comment!

  • i would like to give it five stars, but they changed the system!

    well, here they are:

    * * * * *

    another great rendition!

  • @dushka2001 Thanks for the five stars :)!

  • @dushka2001 Thanks for the kind words.

  • this was fantastic! I'm currently doing this for my Grade 5 Classical exam in a few months time. it's nice to hear it sung by professionals. :)

  • @TheHoneybuns021 Thank you very much and good luck for your exam! But the only professional singer in our virtual quartet is Christoph (the one on the right).

  • Great work everyone. Amazing effects! Fool-proof and completely right on! haha they were awesome. The idea of including a translated english is excellent, and will surely give extra hits. I wonder.. Tenor 2 is highest part?

  • @bordonthestreet Thanks for high praise, Josh!

Tenor 1 is singing the melody and tenor 2 never sings higher than tenor 1, in this arrangement. Why? Do I sound so high :)?

Thanks again for the advise about the blending of the separate videos---it improved the result a lot! You can't imagine how much work it was to make it really work, though. The fact that we were using different cameras, shooting under different conditions, made it necessary to apply a lot of local adjustments.

  • @Partyburner It really looks good all seamed together, Patrick. I've seen stage lighting cast shadows that look similar to Daniel's. Multiple stage lights cast multiple shadows, oftentimes. The way you've stiched it all together appears amazingly realistic.

  • Cool, that's nice to hear!

  • @Partyburner well my man, it worked out so very well. it's perfect, and all the effects I think were worth it for the finesse. Though I think most will not realize all fo the work you put in because it's jsut too clean, that is the point!

    5 stars (lol)

  • @bordonthestreet Thanks Josh. Still down for a beatboxin'-a-cappella-instrumental-funky whatchamacallit ? Cheers

  • 1:57 was such a nice pick-up! The whole song is lovely, but you guys really have such fantastic control over your volume and your syllables. Excellent work.

  • @Kiioko Thanks, it's much appreciated!

  • @Kiioko Thanks for your comment, really glad you enjoyed it.

  • wooohoooo german!

  • @468chuckles Are you trying to tell us you would have liked to hear an English song, for a change :)?

  • @Partyburner nope german is awesome :D

  • I absolutely LOVE this you guys! You sound amazing! I also love the setting, and captions.. So I know what you're saying haha, verrrry well done :) I really don't know how you do it, but it's amazing, as always! You got a two thumbs up from me!!! Awe-some! <3

    Melody

  • @SugarbabyLA Thanks you so much, Melody!

  • @SugarbabyLA Thanks Melody for your kind words. Glad so see your singing dreams are starting to come to life and sorry for being so "slow" on our collab, to say the least. Late July I will have time, promise. Thanks again for dropping by and for the nice comment. Cheers

  • awwwwwwwsome work guys your are awesome ^^ .... im sooo glad i heard it

  • @starwolftxt I'm glad you like it!

  • @starwolftxt Thanks!

  • This sounds amazing!! Great job all of you!!

  • @sgtsonny Thanks very much, Sonny!

  • @sgtsonny Thanks Sarge! Do you understand German by any chance? Cheers and hear you soon by email. ;-p

  • @trudbol I do understand a little bit of german, since it is one of the three languages spoken in Belgium :). I get by... But I'm completely blown away by your german dude! I have never heard a french speaking person pronounce a foreign language as well as you do :). Great job! Can't wait to hear from you :)

  • @BecauseofU43861 Thank you very much!

  • @Partyburner

hajaaaa muss man halt immer mal wieder sagen

  • @Konsolenrocker08 Vielen Dank!

  • the bass is ridiculous

  • @mikemis Do you mean ridiculous in a good way or in a bad way?

  • @Partyburner A great way.

  • @mikemis Cool, thanks :)!

  • @mikemis Indeed... he makes low Ds sound easy.

  • Hi all. You all did a fantastic job here. Is not easy to do a multitrack recording spread over different locations. That takes a lot of patience, retries and finetuning. And also a lot of enginering to build it together as audio and video.

    So WELL DONE!! :-)

    Greetings,

    Robert

  • @robbiedoesNL Thanks for the high praise! You did a good job on your version, too! What do you think about making it a video response to ours?

  • @Partyburner Great idea!! Just made the videorespone.

  • Cool song, great video editing work!

  • @virtualbeck Thanks very much, Mike!

  • @virtualbeck Thanks for the kind words, Mike! I enjoyed your recent render of "Tonight, Tonight". I tried to sing that arrangement a while back, but ehhh... You did a fine job with that piece. Cheers

  • Wonderful ! - finally online - ;D

  • @gipskull Indeed! :)

  • Where is everybody from?

    Sounds great!

  • @TheBig5Brass Thanks, I'm glad you like it! Julien is from France, the others are from Germany. But good call: We should add that to the video info.

  • @Partyburner When Professor Aue moved to Halifax, it was Missouri's loss and Nova Scotia's gain.

I really enjoy these international collaborations. Including Josh's advice, there is cooperative German, French, and Canadian talent all represented here. And I noticed Robert's keyboard accompaniment response from the Netherlands, too. I admire all the effort that went into the production of this multitrack!

  • @CarlyCarlyW Thank you, Paul! It's really nice to know our work is appreciated. Comments like this make our effort worthwhile!

  • @CarlyCarlyW Thanks Paul, your comments are always thoughful and pleasing to read. I'm also happy you measure the effort this was to put together. Patrick did a fine job on the video editing. This was definately one nice collab. Cheers and thanks again for your regular visits and comments on our channels.
