I have severe anaphylactic shock from peanuts, and if I'm not to an emergency room within the first hour, it gets really bad, even with a shot in the thigh.

Good Lord dude, you should have taken some antihistamines at least. I used to be allergic to peanuts, My Pa carries a picture of me when I was 5 when I had my first reaction, my face was swollen up way worse that yours.
I slowly built up an immunity to peanuts over a couple years and do not have full blown reactions anymore. I worked my way up from eating a minuscule amount of peanut butter to a heaping spoon full and just get an itchy mouth.
@glysomed123 yes i have a peanut alergey and im a 3 on a six rating and some peole 3 and under dont need one and it will go away it self when some people smell it they might die in a minute
@glysomed123 Epipens are for serious reactions only, when you are either potentially going into shock or the airway is closing. After the injection, you must go to the hospital for immediate treatment. It isn't like taking an aspirin for headache.
I had a major reaction and I couldn't breathe and my throat closed up and my heart started pounding like crazy and i was only 10 years old. I was alone when this happened and i'm been scared of food ever since.
well im allergic to raspberry and each time i eat it (on accident) it gets worse but mines different all i do is get horrible hives like my hole body is covered in bumps its happened 3 times first time it was half my body second time it was almost hole body and a little on the face third time i got it on my face and i felt like i was wearing leather on my skin and it usually lasts for 3-4 days it gos away then it comes back for that 3 day period super itchy its horrible
Better have an epi pen ready for your next reaction because they do worsten the more you get and once your throat closes you're a gonner...my daughter went through all the same symptoms and then some with her dairy allergy but we had to epipen her immediately and the epi worked amazingly fast.
My reaction is much worse- I need to carry the Epi pen. The Rxn has happened many times, each making me feel like; this is it...I need to go to the ER and be put under Ben, Ster, and Epin, IVs for hours...W
Anaphylaxis is dangerous. Next time might be a lot worse a lot quicker. Call 911. Carry at least one EPI pen, maybe more. That said, as an EMT, I found it instructional and interesting. Good luck.
In fact. Allergic reactions get worse with each episode. Sleeping it off can be DANGEROUS!!!! your airway could become constricted due to the swelling ( just like the swelling on your arm) if this happens you will die. GET AN EPI PEN you may think that your reaction is not bad but there is a tendency for them to get worse. GET AN EPI ! death occurs fast.
I get trouble breathing, and alot of mucous begins to develop in the throat and it slowly constricts. The typical solution was to just sleep it off as you do.
It seemed to be the harder I tried to intake air the greater the swelling in the throat region, so yep, sleeping it off just brings me back to more rhythmic breathing and over time it heals up.
However my friends, find it incredibly dangerous. And keep trying to convince me to get an Epi pen.
thanks i am 44 and i just started getting itch allergies, i was in shock to what was happening, my eyes swelled up and itch all over i have narrowed it down to peanuts and possibly vitamins, i am still working on finding out what it is, i thought it was scabies it was so bad then i found out about sodium lauryl sulfate anyway i am starting to think usa is being attack by bioterrorist
hey, not sure if its covered by your insurance or not, but regardless, you should really just go see an allergist...they'll tell you what you're allergic to.
I'm allergic to all kind of nuts, peanut, hazelnut, cashews and walnuts and almond. I've been it since I was 1 year old and now I'm 17. I have never used a anapen in those 16 years I haven't need it because I was caution and I didn't eat them. But three or four years ago I started react on the smell of the nuts. My eyes ran and it felt like I was blowing. I'm scared that my allergy will be alot worser than it's now. I don't like when people pity me I just want them to stop eating it in public!
Thank you. I just showed your video to my 8-year-old with a nut allergy who thought he could sneak and eat something that could have been cross-contaminated. It's been a while since he's had a reaction, so this reminded him what it's like.
Thank you so much for posting such candid shots of what you go through, I am a mother of 5, 2 of which have this allergy. They are too small to tell me what they are feeling, I just know that they are very sick, vomiting, and hives, and colorless skin. It helps me so much to know more of the feelings thay have. God Bless.
I recently realized I´m starting to be allergic to peanuts. Any time i consume it, it affects my breathing also.. so its another thing ... and I neck turns red.
I just wonder .. does anybody has ever had hard time breathing with this allergy??
i have that too but lukily ive only ever had mild reactions and never had to use any of my epipens , and i found out when i was three in now fourteen!
oh my god man i feel u i mean i really do i have hives right now i dont know what to do i just wanted to know when did you get back to normal??and can u tell me what you did to make it get better???
Seriously, why would you let yourself get so sick and possibly even die. Benadryl, an Epi-Pen and a prescription of a steroid to prevent the reaction from reoccuring would have helped you. My son has life threatening food allergies and I pray he never does something as stupid as this. Food allergies are nothing to fool around with.
I had this exact same thing happen to me 3 days ago. I was swollen all over in about an hour. Normally, I'd just throw up, but this time I didn't. My eyes were ridiculously red and my face swelled up like no other. Once the hives kicked in, I was squirming on the ground helplessly. Benadryl helped relieve some symptoms after a couple hours.
Right now, I still have some hives leftover. Soo annoying!
trying to puke it back out of your stomache IS NOT recommended by doctors. You could get some caught in your lungs...then you are seriously reacting in your lungs and they could swell/shut down. So please - nobody ever take that advice.
Instead: Epipen & benadryl & ER visit.
Your reaction and how you were so casual is really freaking me out.
DUDE! I'm an adult allergic to peanuts as well - I've gone severe anaphylactic in the past. It's crazy to me that you did not Epipen/Benadryl. Go google up "Anaphylaxis Grading Chart" --- when 2 body systems are involved...it's anaphylaxis. You step by step go through all of them. "run to the toilet?" --- that's GI anaphylaxis. "have trouble breathing?" WOW. Hives, nuf said. Seriously - find yoursel a better allergist. We'd hate for this to be your last survivable peanut allergy reaction.
If you knew it was something you ate, and it was so soon afterward, you could have done the "finger in the throat" technique to minimize what you digested and sent through your bloodstream. It takes several hours to digest and begin processing food. Did you let it go just so you could video tape it? Did you drink any water afterwards to flush your system? Did you do any meds or anti-inflamatories?
No, i definitely didn't let it go so I could tape it...I guess I've just never been one for voluntary puking. I did drink some fluids but perhaps not enough, and I did take antihistamines.
Ah, well... at least you gave it a shot. I'm not one that enjoys the voluntary upchucking either, but you do what you've got to do in those situations. But then, our physiology is hardly every 'pretty'. ^_^
well i had an allegic reaction to some medicine they gave me in the hospital i tried to sleep it off and it juss got worsen then on the 3rd day i couldnt take the ichtying nomore so i went to see my skin doctor and she gave me some lotion for the icthing it been 5 days now and i still have the reaction in my body still still ichtying cant sleep skin burns i dont no wat to do anymore
sit in a warm bath with varitites of bathsalts, make sure u mix em nice n use more then a couple, it should stop the itching to parts that r exposed to thewater
because your such a brave soul I have a very special reward for you.:)First you would have to accidentally catch poison ivy/oak,then you take a very very hot wand shower.Wherever you put the water you will have the biggest relief, you've ever felt.Plus, the hot water gets it through, and out of your system,as well,it wont itch for 8 hours. You'll have it for 2-3 weeks.Of course,my disclaimer is you can go blind and/or die,But you'll think its worth it after you try it.I know what Im getting for Xmas
I don't have peanut allergies but I do have allergies to the point where I do need to carry an epi-pen around. Haven't used it but was injected the first time when I started to get hives and almost stopped breathing...Looks like you have different symptoms - do you carry an epipen around too? or does your allegies go away after the 6 hour mark??
Depends where I'm going. I keep an epipen at work and at home, but if I'm going away, I'll bring them with me. The reaction seems to dissipate after about 12 hours, during which I take over the counter allergy meds.
m8 i feel ur pain im alergic to peanuts if i eat them ill die one day i gt reali tierd nd cldnt be botherd reading ingredince and i ate i honey nut crunch bar fuk almosdied now im verri paranoid abwt it!!
Yes, one peanut will do it, but I seem to be allergic to ground nuts, not tree nuts, and while I used to be able to eat fish no problem, salmon is starting to give me that scratchy feeling in the back of my throat.
OMG. You need an epipen. Thank goodness you are OK. My son ate a cupcake from a bakery once and nearly died. Thank you for documenting this as there are so many people out there who think a peanut/tree nut allergy is not a reality.
Thanks for helping create awareness. My son is very allergic to peanuts, I am always worried about "hidden" foods (like the candy bar in the cake). Glad you are OK!
I'm deathly allergic to dairy eggs peanuts fish shellfish treenut and several drugs. I could die within 2 minutes of intake. It sucks.

Peanuts are universally contaminated with tons of mold.
Swelling, hives, puking, trouble breathing. All those symptoms strongly suggest mold.

hi.. thanks for posting this.. i have a question.. is there any reason why you didn't use an epi-pen (if you have one)?
glysomed123 1 year ago 4
@glysomed123
At the time, I didn't really know what constituted an anaphlyactic reaction, and thought my reaction wasn't severe enough to use an epi-pen.
aborsk 1 year ago
@glysomed123 yes i have a peanut alergey and im a 3 on a six rating and some peole 3 and under dont need one and it will go away it self when some people smell it they might die in a minute
AndrewPalais98 1 year ago
@glysomed123 dude, he only had a mild reactin, good job with video, but it was creepy
Bubonichobbs2 11 months ago
@glysomed123 Epipens are for serious reactions only, when you are either potentially going into shock or the airway is closing. After the injection, you must go to the hospital for immediate treatment. It isn't like taking an aspirin for headache.

dude if i did what you just did, i'd be dead in 10 mins

I had a major reaction and I couldn't breathe and my throat closed up and my heart started pounding like crazy and i was only 10 years old. I was alone when this happened and i'm been scared of food ever since.

well im allergic to raspberry and each time i eat it (on accident) it gets worse but mines different all i do is get horrible hives like my hole body is covered in bumps its happened 3 times first time it was half my body second time it was almost hole body and a little on the face third time i got it on my face and i felt like i was wearing leather on my skin and it usually lasts for 3-4 days it gos away then it comes back for that 3 day period super itchy its horrible
hatermachine 1 year ago
Better have an epi pen ready for your next reaction because they do worsten the more you get and once your throat closes you're a gonner...my daughter went through all the same symptoms and then some with her dairy allergy but we had to epipen her immediately and the epi worked amazingly fast.
pomalley3306 1 year ago
My reaction is much worse- I need to carry the Epi pen. The Rxn has happened many times, each making me feel like; this is it...I need to go to the ER and be put under Ben, Ster, and Epin, IVs for hours...W

Anaphylaxis is dangerous. Next time might be a lot worse a lot quicker. Call 911. Carry at least one EPI pen, maybe more. That said, as an EMT, I found it instructional and interesting. Good luck.
FloridaAdventuring 1 year ago
and again GET AN EPI
casidito 1 year ago
I noticed you were wheezing in your video. this is a compromise of the airway. GET AN EPI
casidito 1 year ago
GET AN EPI ! death occurs fast.
casidito 1 year ago
I get trouble breathing, and alot of mucous begins to develop in the throat and it slowly constricts. The typical solution was to just sleep it off as you do.
It seemed to be the harder I tried to intake air the greater the swelling in the throat region, so yep, sleeping it off just brings me back to more rhythmic breathing and over time it heals up.
However my friends, find it incredibly dangerous. And keep trying to convince me to get an Epi pen.

Same thing happened to me! I ate soy-bean (sun flowers) recently, and I didn't know i was allergic.
First I started itching around my neck, and the inside of my mouth was on fire. I then vomited out some previous food too (along with the seeds/nuts).
After that I started swelling... Nut allergies are dangerous... Thank god i'm not allergic to peanuts and cashews...I love eating those :[...

I just wonder .. does anybody has ever had hard time breathing with this allergy??

mi little sister has peanut allergies but she has a epi pen..
A7Xlvr4life 2 years ago
Seriously, why would you let yourself get so sick and possibly even die. Benadryl, an Epi-Pen and a prescription of a steroid to prevent the reaction from reoccuring would have helped you. My son has life threatening food allergies and I pray he never does something as stupid as this. Food allergies are nothing to fool around with.

Do you go into anaphalyxis too?
OAlittlechief 2 years ago
I had this exact same thing happen to me 3 days ago. I was swollen all over in about an hour. Normally, I'd just throw up, but this time I didn't. My eyes were ridiculously red and my face swelled up like no other. Once the hives kicked in, I was squirming on the ground helplessly. Benadryl helped relieve some symptoms after a couple hours.
Right now, I still have some hives leftover. Soo annoying!

hi,people bully me because of my allergy they say im on drugs because of my epipen they just don't seem to get it.but i don't no what to say :\
girlwar1234 2 years ago
trying to puke it back out of your stomache IS NOT recommended by doctors. You could get some caught in your lungs...then you are seriously reacting in your lungs and they could swell/shut down. So please - nobody ever take that advice.
Instead: Epipen & benadryl & ER visit.
Your reaction and how you were so casual is really freaking me out.
adrgau 2 years ago

DeadlyChinchilla 2 years ago
No, i definitely didn't let it go so I could tape it...I guess I've just never been one for voluntary puking. I did drink some fluids but perhaps not enough, and I did take antihistamines.
aborsk 2 years ago
Ah, well... at least you gave it a shot. I'm not one that enjoys the voluntary upchucking either, but you do what you've got to do in those situations. But then, our physiology is hardly every 'pretty'. ^_^

you're lucky, my 6yr old has 6 minutes to get to the Hospital after Epi-pen injection to LIVE.
TeleShaman 3 years ago
because your such a brave soul I have a very special reward for you.:)First you would have to accidentally catch poison ivy/oak,then you take a very very hot wand shower.Wherever you put the water you will have the biggest relief, you've ever felt.Plus, the hot water gets it through, and out of your system,as well,it wont itch for 8 hours. You'll have it for 2-3 weeks.Of course,my disclaimer is you can go blind and/or die,But you'll think its worth it after you try it.I know what Im getting for Xmas
creten69 3 years ago
I don't have peanut allergies but I do have allergies to the point where I do need to carry an epi-pen around. Haven't used it but was injected the first time when I started to get hives and almost stopped breathing...Looks like you have different symptoms - do you carry an epipen around too? or does your allegies go away after the 6 hour mark??
NinaM775 3 years ago
Depends where I'm going. I keep an epipen at work and at home, but if I'm going away, I'll bring them with me. The reaction seems to dissipate after about 12 hours, during which I take over the counter allergy meds.
aborsk 3 years ago
pop the epi bro, get it over with

Hi, glad you were ok. Does that happen if you just have one peanut too? Are you allergic to all nuts? Fish? Is that your only allergy?
MallAngel123 3 years ago
Yes, one peanut will do it, but I seem to be allergic to ground nuts, not tree nuts, and while I used to be able to eat fish no problem, salmon is starting to give me that scratchy feeling in the back of my throat.
aborsk 3 years ago
Im alergic to nuts too :(, i ate a little dessert with peanuts in it, when my throat started to itch and i didn't finish it.
i started vomiting *sorry for the graphic information*, and my bodys weak.
thats all i remember, it was ages ago.

OMG. You need an epipen. Thank goodness you are OK. My son ate a cupcake from a bakery once and nearly died. Thank you for documenting this as there are so many people out there who think a peanut/tree nut allergy is not a reality.
