Great old flick. Never saw this one & was surprised at the quality. Compares favorably with the later versions, and seems closer to the book as far as I remember.

The armory (which is protected by a single door?) is still neat and organized. Don't get me wrong; this is still my all-time favorite movie. You just gotta suspend belief at times.
Yes, Richard Matheson in fact wrote the screenplay for this, but he didn't like the way the script was later rewritten. The Logan Swanson in the credits is actually Matheson himself.

Normally hospitals and police stations have electricity generators run by petrol

Maybe so, but Morgan wouldn't of taken the time to fill generators in buildings he didn't occupy. Who filled them with petrol? The vampires?

Well if the generators petrol container was properly closed the gasoline would stay ther for years, no evaporation.
