  • I made this, also using a white shirt so i used the back of the shirt as well as the front so my fram doesnt show through

  • Whitney, I just adore you & your creativity! It's SO good to see young people being so crafty and you are such an inspiration to me! I'm attempting the idea of sewing after first learning 33 years or so ago and YOU are helping me alot! lol

  • My grandma just died last year, she was my only grandparent I've ever known. I'm only 11. I miss her so much. She had bought me a shirt 2 years ago and it means so much to me. So thanku for making this tutorial -3

  • @Purplepeeps004 Sorry to hear abour your grandma! I'm glad you liked the tutorial and can hopefully use it to save the shirt from your grandma! :)

  • omg seriously how brilliant!!!

I loved your vids from day one of seeing ya, i'm so happy i subscribed.

    Keep the great vids coming!

and All the Best in 2012 xoxo

  • Great idea!! Thanks

    Pam

  • what great timing!!! i have amassed a collection of t-shirts that i love that i don't want to make into bags or pillows!!!! what kind of wood should i use???? i have no knowledge of this!!!

  • That is a really cool idea...may just try that myself..lol

  • I love this idea, very clever!

  • Do you have videos on turning t-shirts into dog shirts?

  • @YenieD13 No, I don't have any on that yet...maybe in the future :)

  • To avoid the see through issue, you could stretch your shirt over a blank canvas. This also works if you don't have access to wood and a saw.

  • @mrslair Yes, that would work...I chose to make the frame because I don't have any money to spend on a canvas.

  • that's a great idea, i'll dig in my closet to see if i can make that! :) i love your owly slippers btw, they're so cute! did you make them?

  • @Earendil2501 Thanks. The owl slippers were a Christmas gift from the hubby :)

  • I love this.

  • Whitney have you ever made a quilt from tee shirts? That's another great way to recycle. Save all your knit material scraps too. If you "chip" up the tee scraps into tiny pieces you can use the tiny fluff to fill pillows and toys. Also old leggings and men's socks can be recycled as stuffing too. Love to see a tut on a Tshirt quilt!!

  • @jcrefasi1 I've never made a t-shirt quilt before...used to want one from my high school band shirts, but am not into it anymore. I do save my scraps though and use then for drawstrings and things :)

  • Great idea! Impressed with the wood cutting skills!

  • @keystoneprepper Hehe thanks :) I had to hand cut all those with a hand saw and mitter box (because we don't have any power tools)...took about 30 minutes.

  • @keystoneprepper Me too. The girl can cut.

  • I love this idea! I'm going to do this with some of my husbands old concert t-shirts!

  • @sweetcherry5975 Cool...just make sure he knows ahead of time... :)

  • This is a great idea I would never have thought of it!

  • Great idea!

  • What a great idea! I should do this with some of clothes my boys can't fit into anymore and hang it on their wall! Thank you!

  • made an awesome wall deco all in the comfort of her pjs, you rock Whitney!!

  • @scarlettrose11 Hehe thanks...but I wasn't in my pjs. That was corduroy pants, a hoodie and house shoes...got to stay warm :)

  • Ok thx for answering my question

  • @starrpirate No prob :)

  • that was cool but i would have sanded the corners so the t-shirt doesn't rip. also, i would have added muslin to the back so you can't see the frame

  • @MsCoolstorybro1 I did sand all of the boards after cutting them...just didn't get any of that on film. Muslin is a great idea :)

  • You are so clever. What a great idea!

  • Nice idea. Please show how to make a t-shirt quilt!

  • @jcsbaby You just cut the same size squares out of all your t-shirts, sew them together in rows, then sew your rows together to get one big piece. Put right sides together with a backing material, sew around edges, turn then top stitch. Hand sew some tacks at the corners of the squares so that it's 'quilted' and you're done. I don't want a t-shirt quilt so no video tutorial...sorry.

  • I love this idea. Now I finally display some off my favorite video game shirts and comics that I didnt have the heart to throw away. Awesome! And thanks for the idea!!!!

  • @precious69cool That's great! Hmm...maybe I should transform some of my hubby's old comic shirts for him... :)

  • I really like this idea, I am going to have to try this but I don't think I trust myself with a staple gun haha

  • @CaleighAnnSquared Hehe I know what you mean! I used to not trust myself around a lot of things...but I worked in the theatre shop dept. in college and was taught how to properly use a lot of power tools and things. I LOVE creating things :)

  • Awesome idea im going to try this for my kid room thanks for sharing :)(

  • Any ideas on how to recycle old pull-over hoodies?

  • @DemonicRainbows some people have made them into bags.

  • Excellent Idea - you could also use interfacing (iron-on would be good) - would give it more body, deter stretching/wrinkling and help with the see-thru. Can see a series of these in a child's or teen's room! Thanks Whitney! Hugs Eva

  • @EvaEvaEva923 Great idea!

  • Awesome! You always come up with some great ideas! Thanx for sharing and happy new year....xoxoxoxo

  • @sandyvan13444 Thanks :) Glad you like the idea!

  • love love love this

  • Awesome DIY!

  • *viciously steals your slippers and scuttles away*

  • @Moonessence1 Hehe I would run after you! Jeremiah got those for me for Christmas :)

  • This is awesome! I have a Siouxsie Sioux shirt that is beyond repair, and this looks like the perfect way to keep my love for it alive <3

  • But what if I don't want to cut or staple or glue or harm the shirt in any way. Also I can't it to be in a frame with glass over it. How can I make that work?

  • @starrpirate If you don't want to harm the shirt then I wouldn't do this project...you could try putting it in a shadow box like people do with old military uniforms.

  • I have old school shirts from when I changed schools and when I graduated from year 6 to high school and they don't fit me any more and are just sitting there in my closet so this usefull

  • Great idea I have tons of shirts that have shrunk on me :( now I can do something with them :) thanks

  • cute owl socks! :)

  • @WindUpFun Hehe thanks! It's slippers that Jeremiah got me :)

  • This is a super neat idea!

  • wow!!! great idea!!! definitely doing it!!! =]

  • I see owl slippers O.O

    SO CUTE

  • @ChinchillaAngel Hehe thanks :) Jeremiah got them for me for Christmas!

  • Awesome DIY! A good way to recycle alot of my shirts. Thanks for sharing <3

  • @ThePoetsLies Glad you like the idea :)

  • I use a thin batting behind it so it won't show through at all.

  • @artcrazed Great idea! I hadn't thought of that :)

  • @aglanceatmyworld My textile professor said it was the best idea and worked for large scale and small scale pieces. :)

  • I love this, will definetely try this. Thanks! for sharing :)

  • @veronica5416 Glad you like it :)
