  • Excellent - I have seen many comments by obviously younger riders. First, do the research far fewer horses were killed and far fewer riders got killed on the old long form.. when dressage was not as high a level, the horses had to think some for themselves and were less refined they were safer. If you actually do the research, slow rotational falls are the most dangerous for both horse and rider, they are not as frequent back then. I agree this course was tough= 20 miles...

  • For the person that asked.. Lucinda Greens Horse had a career ending injury but not a life ending injury. He ruptured a tendon, was retired from eventing but lived for many more years from what I have read on her blog/webpage.

  • Cross country sans protective vests. It's like riding naked. I'm liking this documentary.

  • Ho-lee moley... that was some x-country course. Were they TRYING to kill them? Boom! Boom! They were going down like dominoes! And no body protectors. I can't believe the horses stayed sound, too, after some of those thumps (I'd like to know what happened to Lucinda's horse, though - commentator was strangely silent as we watched him/her hobble around). Some very, very tough TBs back then. I'm glad the water is shallower now and there's no remounting.

  • WOW!!!!! That was for tough-assed riders! I had enough at fence 2.

  • Great video. Reminds me of Badminton in the late sixtys. Those were the days

  • woww! brilliant vid :) great seein the difference in dressage nd xc- soo glad the waters shallower now

  • Cross-Country day: 6km - 25 minutes roads and tracks 3.4km - 5 minutes steeplechase 10.3 - 43 minutes roads and tracks ---ten minute break--- cross country 13.5 minutes

  • Wonderful to see Thank you!

  • Thank you for sharing.....super footage. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Wonderful to see our "Aussie" legend Bill Roycroft competing at the age of 61....amazing !!!!

    Team Australia Bronze Medal position.

  • Can someone explain to me why now that we are more knowledgable, better trainers, and more experienced our XC courses have gotten so much easier?

  • Ah the good old days when the Dressage test didn't really matter because the good Dressage horses couldn't jump. ;-)

  • luvv ittt

  • To see these tough sound TBs is beautiful!

  • you can see mark and ann, due to stubborn protocol, refused the offer of a hand to get up the truck
