@shilinTV SAi may interest you it comes to coloring, you can rotate the canvas when no draw backs for one. :D Super helpful for those hard to get angles. It can be alittle wonkie at first and the free form brushes are kinda hard to get used to. It's worth it :). If you know what deviant art is there are some wonderful tutorials on it if you want to look at some.
I do love your work and even a speed paint I still pick up on things I never really knew and watching you detail helps. +Subb
@hiyyee of course it's ok, roughs/sketches are meant to be rough and it helps the final image to not look rigid ^^ I'm not too anal most of the time but because of the size of canvas I use, my drawings usually looks very neat in screen resolution.
What program do you use to record your rendering process? I've been trying to record mine but the programs I used gave me crappy videos that partially or entirely black out. :\ Is there anyway to avoid this? D:
One program I used was CamStudio. Forgot the other one.
@HikaruIssyl as I said in the description, this video came from a livestream. in other words I livestream my drawing processes and when I'm done, I use that file to make these videos, two birds with one stone.
wow O_O how many layers would you have on a piece like this one? I seem to have problems with PS if I have too many layers thus it's hard to paint on Ps (I tend to use Sai, but, dunno, I feel like the outcome is not the same...but maybe it's just me) XD
@kanachiaki Usually I have 1 layer for colour, 1 for line art, and then a bunch of lighting effect layers using layer modes. If there are separate, important elements that are obviously easier to deal with on a separate layer (like jewelry, or in this case, the red ribbon), I colour those on separate layers too. You can pretty much tell what layers I have by seeing what the active layer is in the layer window during the video.
@MrsBenzedrine1 yes, I did self teach all of this. Anyone can do it too if they are willing to practice, observe and look up the answers whenever a question hits them.
@shilinTV Awesome! :D Cause I've been self-teaching myself for almost a year now and I have improved a lot. Now I wanted to know if I could reach this level one day by continuing like this. Now I'm relieved… For how long have you been doing this?
Oh, and what exact brushes do you use? I remember you once saying that you use default brushes (a solid and an airbrush one), but I'd like the exact names. I have a hunch, but I want to be sure :P.
@MrsBenzedrine1 I started doing digital art 10 years ago. I dont know the exact brush names but it's as you said, the default circle brushes. It doesn't matter what brush I use or how long I've been doing this though because it doesn't mean it takes 10 years to do something like this (in fact it should probably take a lot less lol) and it doesn't mean if you use the same brushes you will have an easier time drawing lol
@shilinTV I know what you mean. I'm a really fast learner though, so people somehow get depressed when I tell them that I've only been drawing and coloring for a year :P. I'm curious about what brushes other people use (been sticking to the "Airbrush Pen Opacity Flow"-brush for a while now though), so I'm asking around a bit. Most people seem to use the same brushes as me and you: default brushes lol XD.
@ZaBanyan draw the lines really fast (:

why do you do the colors in photoshop compared to sai?

@liz5100 I tried it and I really didn't like it ): I have a cintiq and cs5 though so the rotation problem is gone ^^

Are you very precise with the coloring?
Is it ok just to paint outside the lines first? Mine tend to look very messy :<

um just a question how do you exactly estimate the colouring for shading?
ReOmiXo3 3 months ago in playlist More videos from shilinTV
@ReOmiXo3 intuition from experience. you can build up experience by either learning colour theory properly, or going through years of trial and error

How are you spinning the canvas around like that?

@unabletoperform I use sai for lines, canvas rotation is a feature in sai (:
shilinTV 7 months ago
I save as a .psd, not .sai ^^
shilinTV 7 months ago
How did you transfer the .sai file to the cs & keep all the layers in layers & not flattened?
>:' been trying to figure that out for myself, not going so well. lol

it's mesmerizing. It's like you know exactly what it's going to be before you begin to paint.
