  • I am 13, and just got a mountain dulcimer for my birthday. I always was amazed by it and the sound. I am kinda crappy at playing, but now I have a goal... To get as good as this guy!

  • Can you do "Come thou Fount" on the dulcimer? That would sound great

  • So the dulcimer has three strings tuned to DAD? I love your playing and am interested in learning the dulcimer one day. I already play mandolin, guitar, recorder, keyboards and several other instruments. Just wanted to know how many strings it has.

  • Great job! Beautiful!

  • Awesome! Thanks for sharing and inspiring.

  • Well done! You put your whole heart in that one, and it shows. Really masterful working of the instrument. Thank you for sharing!

  • Where can I get the tabs the way YOU play it? I really admire you. Thanks for the enjoyment. - Sherry

  • @sherrygaither01

    From the heart :)

My tab book is in the pre-netal stages...

  • That is a beautifully made instrument

  • awesome sound never really heard this instrument before. i want one! Why are the frets so spaced out towards the headstock?

  • @stevo0665 It's diatonic rather than chromatic, so the frets are spaced to a scale and you adjust the tuning to play in different keys.

  • love this :) great playing man....

  • Hey man :) love this thing , could you please give me a name of the instrument or advices on where to get it ? :) looks awsome :) btw great skills you got there :)

  • I just recently got a dulcimer my friend made for me he makes alto of them and I am trying to learn to play hope to one day play as good as you! Do you think it would be easier to tune in DAA or DAD when first learning? Most of the music I come across is in DAD

  • @MsCrazyhorselady Sorry for the late reply, to answer your question, I would definitely tune to DAD because that is what most people use nowadays :) It is what tuning I use as well!

  • @gretchenman thank you so much for the reply! It was very helpful!

  • I WANT one of these!!!! Only prob is I am BROKE!!!

  • awesome!! amazing grace!!!!!! how sweet the sound!!!!!

  • I love Gatlinburg Tennessee....I have fond memories of going there as a child during the summers and just enjoying the Appalachian Mountains and the Smoky music downtown :)

  • beautiful dulcimer. i'll send you my right foot in exchange for that instrument. I might even consider a leg. Or £500. i want it!

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • VERY good!!! Excellent finger work beatiful sound!

  • And how difficult is Dulcimer actually?

  • I am enjoying your videos. I am just beginning and I notice my fretting is completely different (turkey in the straw this tune). Could you recommend sheet music or book that you use to learn the basic tune? thanks for the inspiration Brian

  • You're probably in ioniain tuning (D-A-A). there are many great books out there. I don't know any right off the top of the top of my head, but in D-A-D mixolidian tuning, Steohen Seifert has some PHENOMENAL books! I'm sure he has books for ionian tuning too!

    Thanks!!!

    Hunter

  • So does he also write books to learn playing this instrument? I was thinking about giving it a try... Beautiful song and very nice playing, by the way :)

  • thats pritty awsome, i love amazing grace, what are you tuned to? i wass told to tune my 4 string to G-C-C-C wich dosn't sound normal...can you give me any advice?

  • You are what they call ionian "C" tuning.

I play almost exclusively in Mixolydian D, which is tuned D-A-D.

  • Beautiful!!

  • I love the way you play. And this definately is one of the most beautiful and accurate songs ever written.

  • good job! I see you have a gatlinburg shirt on, I live like an hour from gatlinburg! do you live around here?

  • Nice job, gretchenman. I really like your articulate and delicate style of playing.

  • good job man!

  • That was beautiful Hunter. I'm glad you finally got your Clemmer. Looking forward to playing with you again. Keep up the great work! Robin D. Charleston WV

    Linda in NC

  • beautiful! simply gorgeous!

  • This is a bit different from my version !! LOL

Really brings out the notes here.

The best rendition of this song I've ever heard was in a small Highland chapel with no musical accompaniment, it made my hair stand on end, almost taken to a different world.

    Keep up the good work

  • Nice sound and very interesting style, good work!

  • Nice playing keep up the work man, Later!

  • Great job, Hunter!

  • Intresting rendition of Amazing Grace, the first part sounds kinda like Aaron O'Rourke's version of the song. Once again though, great video! Keep strumming!

  • Nice to see you putting up some dulcimer videos! Good job.

  • GOO HUNTER! NICE PLAYING
