All I have to say is my that if u get a M3 with the competition package it can pull out 0-60 in 4.1 seconds with a good driver. And also u can tell the BMW driver sucked and was not shifting through the gears fast enough but the. Amg would pull out quicker cause of horsepower but in the longer run the BMW m3 sedan would crush any Mercedes in a clean drag race

Nice this is where the extra hp and torque comes in. Both are awsome cars, Mercedes has always been about power and the joy in riding a luxury car. BMW i find is less on the luxury side and more on the sport side; both benz and bmw are awsome cars but mercedes stays the king.
So the CLS is faster but I dont like looking out of a cave, I would rather have the E55 but the bmw is better for people who like taking turns and is my choice here. If you want a nice driver theres nothing wrong with CLS55 AMG or E55. I like a car that has fast reflexes to maze around town or high speed bends.

Merc's have always used larger displacement engines so they can broaden their torque bands and create a flatter power curve for better midrange acceleration and better engine flexibility. BMWs have always been about creating peaky power curves with the highest rev limiters so they can get the most out of a smaller engine. The bad thing about that is they typically have ZERO low end torque & EASILY lose rolling races

The M3 would have fared a little better had it started off in a higher RPM range (it didn't sound like he was revving very high when they jumped). It redlines at 8400rpm, and has, relatively, low torque figures (the Benz is a torque machine due to its kompressor).

The M3 would have fared a little better had it started off in a higher RPM range (it didn't sound like he was revving very high when they jumped). It redlines at 8400rpm, and has, relatively, low torque figures (the Benz is a torque machine due to its kompressor).
